India pacer Mohammed Shami&#39;s wife Hasin Jahan has sent the documents related to her complaints against her husband to the BCCI&#39;s Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai for a probe into her allegations of corruption, her lawyer said on Thursday.

&quot;We have sent the details of the complaint that was lodged at Lalbazar (Kolkata Police headquarters) and the copy of the FIR to Vinod Rai,&quot; news agency PTI quoted Jahan&#39;s lawyer Zakir Hussain as saying.

According to PTI, Jahan has alleged that Shami had taken money from a Pakistani woman named Alishba on the insistence of an England-based businessman, Mohammad Bhai.

Rai has instructed the BCCI&#39;s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) chief Neeraj Kumar to look into the corruption allegations levelled against Shami by his wife.

Jahan had filed a police complaint against the pacer, alleging infidelity and domestic violence, which had resulted in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) withholding Shami&#39;s central contract.

The Kolkata Police had last week booked Shami and four others under various sections of the IPC, following Jahan&#39;s complaint.

The case was lodged under sections 498A (cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Indian Penal Code.&nbsp;

In a new twist, Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administration(CoA) has said it there are no investigations being conducted against Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami on&nbsp;match-fixing charges.

However, as stated above, Dhoni is a class act and all we need is the resetting his role in the team. Despite the decline in his natural hitting abilities, Dhoni still has some unique selling points. He is sharp behind the stumps, he is frantic runner between the wicket and he brings plenty of experience on the table, which at times become very handy for Kohli. Moreover, God has given him a natural hawk-eye and he is normally spot-on with his decisions to go upstairs for DRS.

The need of the hour is to change Dhoni&rsquo;s&nbsp;&nbsp;batting order. Dhoni is no longer the best man to finish the innings at number six or seven. He, however, can still play a colossal role in mid overs, largely because of his ability to keep the scoreboard ticking by taking ones and twos. His ability to run fast between the wickets helps him in the course.

Sending Dhoni at four or five will also help Indian team to fix their middle order woes. Currently in the middle order, barring skipper Kohli, there is huge volatility and Dhoni can be the perfect companion to Kohli. As we saw in past, when Dhoni and Kohli bats together, they score with a rate of five-run per overs in just singles and doubles only.

When we unfold the pages of Dhoni&#39;s history, he played the role of Imran Khan from Pakistan who played amazingly in his last couple of years (with the bat). Opinion: Time to have new version of MS Dhoni: 'Dhoni .03'

After years of debate whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) be made a public body, the law commission has made several recommendations to bring the board under the Right to Information (RTI) purview if not under government&#39;s domain.&nbsp;

The world&#39;s richest cricket body currently operates as a private entity under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.

In the recommendations soon to be submitted to Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, the panel is requesting the government to make BCCI a public body or the least to bring them under RTI.

&ldquo;We have found that BCCI is eminently qualified to be classified as &lsquo;state&rsquo; under Article 12 of the Constitution,&rdquo; said Chairman Justice B S Chauhan to a leading daily.

The fallout of a body getting classified as &#39;state&#39; would be subject to constitutional checks by the Supreme Court and high courts.

It would also face PILs questioning the fairness of its decisions.

Earlier, the Supreme Court in July 2016, had asked the law commission to examine the legal framework to bring BCCI under the RTI act.

If the government accepts the recommendations, anyone can file PILs in the SC or HCs questioning the selection of players representing India, states and zones.&nbsp;

The PILs could also question the agreements signed by BCCI with other cricket playing nations and the International Cricket Council.

&quot;The (ICC) Board expressed their concern around the absence of a tax exemption from the Indian Government for ICC events held in India despite ongoing efforts from both the ICC and BCCI to secure the exemption which is standard practice for major sporting events around the world,&quot; the ICC said in a statement.

&quot;The Board agreed that ICC management, supported by the BCCI will continue the dialogue with the Indian Government but in the meantime directed ICC management to explore alternative host countries in a similar time zone for the ICC Champions Trophy 2021,&quot; it added.

The BCCI, in its Special General Body Meeting in December last, had announced that the country will host the 2021 Champions Trophy as well as the 2023 World Cup.

According to reports, the ICC is fearing a revenue loss of at least USD 100 million if tax exemption is not granted for the mega tournament. The Indian government did not provide the tax exemption for the 2016 World T20.

Also during yesterday&#39;s meeting, the first of 2018, the ICC Board agreed a revised financial model incorporating increased allocations for Ireland and Afghanistan as the newest Full Members of the ICC.

The new model will see Ireland and Afghanistan each receiving a percentage of the projected surplus, amounting under current projections to approximately USD 40m each over the course of the current eight-year commercial rights cycle.

Additionally, the ICC Board was provided with an update on the ongoing suspension of Nepal. Following an ICC delegation to Nepal in January, the ICC Board was informed that a general meeting will be held in Nepal in March to adopt an agreed and amended constitution by which the membership base will be determined.

This process is expected to be completed by March with a view to Nepal being readmitted to the membership at the ICC&#39;s Annual Conference in June.

The ICC Board also received an update on progress regarding the establishment of a National Governing Body in the USA following the expulsion of USACA in June 2017.

A new NGB -- USA Cricket -- and the election of a new Board and Chair under a new constitution is expected to be completed in early June. It is envisaged that USA Cricket will subsequently be in a position to apply to become an Associate Member of the ICC Annual Conference.

World&#39;s richest cricket board (BCCI), faced a major embarrassment on Saturday after a blooper on its official website - www.bcci.tv. The website&nbsp;went down&nbsp;for almost a day. The&nbsp;problem occurred due to failure in renewing the domain name.

The domain was valid from 2-2-2006 to 2-2-2019. The renewal was due on or before February 3, 2018. The board&#39;s website was acting up until Sunday evening even as the senior national men&#39;s team was&nbsp;playing the second ODI against South Africa at the Centurion.

Website registrars register.com and namejet.com had put the domain name up for public bidding, receiving seven bids so far with the highest of $270.

In 2008 Lalit Modi, first Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League had bought the domain name from register.com in&nbsp;his name.

In 2010 Modi suffered a ban for life by the BCCI and suspended from all the acting responsibilities but he did not transfer the intellectual property.

Modi didn&#39;t&nbsp;transfer the rights to the BCCI, the BCCI had filed a case against him in 2013. The case is pending in the Bombay High Court, the Court had asked Modi&rsquo;s lawyers in 2014 to give an undertaking of co-operating on all operational fronts until a judgement is passed.

Finally, the site has been restored after the BCCI paid up, reports said.

The oustanding tax demand by the income tax department on the Board of Control for Cricket in India may go up to over Rs 860 crore, according to an RTI reply from the department.

In response to an application by RTI activist Subhash Agrawal, the I-T department has given details of the tax demands raised by it on the BCCI and the payments made by the cricket body.

The tax department said the total tax payable by the BCCI till January 9, 2018 was Rs 1325.31 crore for the assessment year 2014-15 of which it had paid Rs 864.78 crore leaving an outstanding tax of Rs 460.52 crore.

The reply said for the year 2015-16, the assessment will be completed and the department is likely to raise a demand of Rs 400 crore on the cricket body, taking the total pending demand to Rs 860.52 crore.

The response of the tax department came after the Central Information Commission directed it to furnish the factual position on the demand pending and the recoveries made for the period sought by Agrawal.

&quot;The commission would also like to draw the attention of the tax recovery authorities about the approach, procedures and extant guidelines followed by the respondent in recovery of arrears of taxes due from the public body (BCCI) and the interest accrued thereon in this particular case vis-a-vis the philosophy pursued in similarly placed matters,&quot; Information Commissioner Bimal Julka said in a recent order.

The issue was raised after a meeting on Wednesday&nbsp;and the panel of former cricketers Ricky Ponting, Mike Gatting, Kumar Sangakkara and John Stevenson&nbsp;discussed the game&#39;s return to the Olympics.

The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics will help to promote the game around the world.

&quot;It would be ideal if all the major countries take part. And how we were looking at the 2024 Olympics, I don&#39;t think that&#39;s going to be a reality at the moment because the preparations are well underway. But, 2028 seems a very, very likely target and they are negations and discussions underway,&quot; suggested Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.

Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan <a href="http://www.wionews.com/sports/indian-cricketer-yusuf-pathan-suspended-for-5-months-failing-a-dope-test-28991" target="_blank">has been suspended for five months for doping</a>, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday.

Pathan had received a five-month ban due to a doping violation but will be free to play from Monday after the ban was backdated to August, the country&#39;s cricket board said.

The Baroda all-rounder had inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance &mdash; Terbutaline, which can be commonly found in cough syrups.

&quot;The BCCI is satisfied with Mr Pathan&rsquo;s explanation that he had taken Terbutaline inadvertently to treat an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) and not as a performance-enhancing drug. Having considered all of the evidence and taken expert external advice, the BCCI has accepted Mr Pathan&rsquo;s explanation of the cause of his ADRV, and on that basis has agreed that a period of ineligibility of five months should apply, together with the disqualification of certain results.&quot;, the board said in the statement.

In his response, Pathan released a statement saying that he was confident of being cleared of deliberate usage and vowed to be more careful in future.

The selection committee of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet again ignored star spinners Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin, while announcing India&#39;s ODI squad for South Africa.&nbsp;

The selectors decided to persist with the young wrist-spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal along with left-arm orthodox Axar Patel.

The two last featured in the limited-overs team during India&rsquo;s tour of the West Indies, soon after the June ICC Champions Trophy.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, left paceman Umesh Yadav also did not find any place in the squad and is replaced by Mohammed Shami. &nbsp;

Shami last played an ODI against Australia in September 2017.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, whose performance cannot be doubted if considered the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka, was also left out.&nbsp;

Middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav and speedster Shardul Thakur have made a comeback into the Indian team.&nbsp;

Skipper Virat Kohli, who rested for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, will lead the side.

Ahead of the ODIs, India will start their tour with the three-Test series against the Proteas, starting January 5 in Capetown while the second (January 13-17) and third (January 24-28) Tests will be played in Centurion and Johannesburg, respectively.

The ODI series starts from February 1 in Durban, four days after the conclusion of the third Test. The second ODI will be played in Centurion on February 4, the third in Cape Town on February 7, while the fourth and fifth ODIs will be held on February 10 and 13 in Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth respectively.

The final ODI will be played in Centurion on February 16, followed by a three-match T20I series concluding on February 24.

Fresh elections were held under the supervision of Rajasthan High Court and Congress leader CP Joshi was elected as its president in June this year.

The Indian Cricket Board was also looking after RCA&#39;s cricket affairs since its suspension in 2014.

The RCA had filed a suit against its suspension by the BCCI, to which the board had asked the association to withdraw all pending cases and not to involve the cricket board in any case.&nbsp;
