<p>Condemning Pakistan Cricket Board&#39;s decision of compensation claim against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), &nbsp;former International Cricket Council (ICC) President Ehsan Mani on Thursday said the showdown will lead to bad blood and will hamper the future cricket relations between the two countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The PCB had filed a $70 million compensation claim against the Indian Cricket board before the ICC for breaching the bilateral cricket series agreement.</p>

<p>&quot;I have concerns about the consequences of this case whatever its outcome. What I am concerned about is the affect it is going to have on cricket relations between the two countries in the long run,&quot; Mani said to a Dubai based Pakistani sports channel.</p>

<p>Mani, who served as the ICC President between 2003- 2006, further slammed Pakistan for not exploring all the legal aspects before filing the compensation claim.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&quot;I just think all avenues of talks, discussions and backdoor diplomacy were not explored by the PCB before going ahead with its compensation claim in the ICC. I would have waited and first exhausted all options of trying to get something out of India for them not playing bilateral ties with Pakistan before opting for the compensation claim option,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Mani also went on to add that former BCCI President and ICC Chairman N. Srinivasan had a significant role to play in India not resuming bilateral cricket ties with its neighbouring nation Pakistan.</p>

"Kumar will not take any further part in the ongoing test series against Sri Lanka and the all-India senior selection committee has named Vijay Shankar as his replacement," the BCCI said in a statement late on Monday. <p>In the sting operation, curator Pandurang Salgaoncar is seen and heard speaking to an undercover reporter, who poses as a bookie, while standing on the pitch of the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.</p>

<p>The 68-year-old Salgaoncar is seen agreeing to tamper with the pitch to suit the requirements put forth by the reporter. India Today TV said the video was shot last evening. It is not clear how Salgaoncar, a former pacer and one-time India prospect, could have tweaked the pitch with just a few hours to go before the match later today.</p>

<p>&quot;Pandurang Salgaoncar has been suspended from the Maharashtra Cricket Association&#39;s curator&#39;s post with immediate effect,&quot; BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary told.</p>

<p>&quot;The MCA has also suspended Salgaoncar from all other positions in the association. An inquiry Commission will also be constituted by MCA. At BCCI, we reiterate that we have zero tolerance towards any corrupt activity,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Asked if the ACU unit should be answerable as to how an outsider got access to the pitch, Chaudhary said, &quot;...Everyone associated with the ACU would be answerable. In any case, a very select few have access to the centre of the pitch.&quot;</p>

<p>When contacted, BCCI acting President C K Khanna said he is writing a mail to Kumar so that his team gives an update on the incident.</p>

<p>&quot;It&#39;s a pity that both former MCA President Ajay Shirke and current president Abhay Apte had helped Salgaoncar have a career after retirement. He gets Rs 65,000 salary per month from the MCA and also a BCCI pension. He is among BCCI&#39;s independent curators. We are feeling bad for both Abhay and Ajay. Salgaoncar let them down badly,&quot; Khanna said.</p>

<p>Salgaoncar, a former Maharashtra speedster, was considered a genuine India prospect in early and mid &#39;70s.</p>

<p>He toured with the Indian team for an unofficial series against Sri Lanka back in 1974. Sunil Gavaskar&#39;s autobiography &#39;Sunny Days&#39; mentions him as being a genuine prospect who was unlucky not to don national colours.</p>

<p>The former pacer took 214 wickets in 63 first-class games.</p>

<p>The Pune pitch had been under the spotlight earlier as well. It had been rated poor by the ICC after an India- Australia Test match in February.</p>

<p>The Australians had hammered India by 333 runs on a turner where the home team was bowled out for 105 and 107 in two innings. The game itself had ended inside three days.</p>

<p>Former India captain Sourav Ganguly also expressed his shock.</p>

<p>The Board of Control for Cricket in India was slammed by fans of Indian cricketer Anil Kumble over a birthday message that described former ace spinner Anil Kumble simply a &quot;former bowler&quot;.</p>

<p>The cricket board has not sent any other nomination Padma awards this year and it was a unanimous decision to name Dhoni, India&#39;s most successful captain, a senior BCCI official said.</p>

<p>The top official of the BCCI said MS Dhoni&#39;s credentials are impeccable and as the only Indian captain with two World titles -- he led the Indian team to victory in the 2011 50-over World Cup and the World Cup T20 in 2007 -- the BCCI did not have to ponder over likely names.</p>

<p>As a wicketkeeper, Dhoni has held 584 catches across formats (256 in Tests, 285 in ODIs and 43 in T20 Internationals). He has also effected 163 stumpings.</p>

<p>The former Team India skipper is already a recipient of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and the Padma Shri award.</p>

<p>If he is conferred with Padma Bhushan, he will become the 11th Indian cricketer to get the third highest civilian honour.</p>

<p>According to DNA, the notices were sent to all NCA members, sans Shah, late on Thursday by none other than acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary. If sources are to be believed then Shah has deliberately been left out to send &ldquo;right signals&rdquo; to the Supreme Court ahead of the September 18 hearing.</p>

<p>The Committee of Administrators (CoA) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) &nbsp;on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to remove top officials of the cricket board for not complying with the Lodha Panel reforms.</p>

<p>In a scathing status report submitted to the top court, the two-member COA - comprising of Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji - asked the &quot;governance, management and administration&quot; of the board be handed over to them along with a professional group headed by CEO Rahul Johri till the elections are held.</p>

<p>The officials which the COA wants to remove include acting president CK Khanna and secretary Amitabh Choudhary.</p>

<p>In the fifth Status Report, the COA also sought the removal of treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhry.</p>

<p>In the 26-page report, the COA stated that CK Khanna, Amitabh Choudhary and Aniruddh Chaudhry should be removed just like former BCCI president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke, who were ousted for failing to ensure the implementation of the Lodha Panel reforms.</p>

<p>&quot;...It is only fair that the current office-bearers be treated in the same manner because a further period of six months have elapsed since the said office-bearers submitted their undertakings and reforms mandated by Hon&#39;ble Court have still not been implemented.</p>

<p>&quot;It is clear that current office-bearers are not in position to make good on their undertakings and ensure that reforms mandated by this Hon&#39;ble Court is implemented.&quot;</p>

<p>The COA also mentioned that the Supreme Court order on July 24 was &quot;deliberately misconstrued&quot; during the BCCI&#39;s Special General Meeting (SGM) on July 26 where office-bearers asked CEO Rahul Johri, the administrative staff and the legal team to leave the meeting.</p>

SC-appointed administrators ask court to remove top BCCI officials

<p>In a big relief for S&nbsp;Sreesanth, the Kerala High Court on Monday lifted the lifetime-ban imposed on the tainted pacer by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in connection with the spot fixing case.</p>

<p>Sreesanth was one of those charged for spot-fixing during the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013.</p>

<p>In September 2013, the disciplinary committee of the BCCI gave him a life ban from the sport, effectively ending his career.</p>

<p>The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may have ignored complaints that the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) was siphoning off a large sum of money in connection with the construction of a stadium.</p>

<p>Even the auditing, done by Deloitte and commissioned by the BCCI itself, may not have revealed the actual scale of irregularities relating to the Edakochi stadium scam. (DNA has audit reports from 2010-11 to 2015-16)</p>

<p>Annual audit reports of the KCA throw light on how they spent more than Rs 12 crore over six years on maintaining an office for a project, which doesn&#39;t exist.</p>

<p>This adds to the already controversial issue concerning the construction of an international stadium at a whopping cost of Rs 250 crore. For this, the KCA had procured wetland at a cost of at least Rs 25.50 crore, flouting environmental norms in Edakochi, Kochi.</p>

<p>The stadium was never built as the State and the Central government refused to allow the construction on &quot;ecologically fragile land&quot;.</p>

<p>DNA has documents to show that current BCCI vice-president TC Mathew, who was secretary of KCA then, played a hand in procuring this wetland after rejecting the state government&#39;s offer to provide free land for the stadium.</p>

<p>In February 2008, KCA decided to form a stadium committee to find Build Operate Transfer (BOT) operators to construct the stadium.</p>

<p>As per the records in possession of DNA, the committee received 24 proposals and five were shortlisted. However, the stadium committee, which included Mathew and current secretary Jayesh George, recommended the Edakochi proposal from Infrastructure Venture Consortium (IVC) to the General Body.</p>

<p>While the other four proposals were marked &quot;poor&quot; or &quot;average&quot;, the marshy Edakochi land proposal was marked &quot;excellent&quot;.</p>

<p>In March 2009, KCA General Body unanimously approved the choice of the stadium committee to procure the Edakochi marshes. The minutes show how some members, including former president A Salim, put forward their apprehensions about getting environmental clearances to build the stadium on such a land, and the committee members were quick to allay these fears.</p>

<p><strong>Project Office for what?</strong></p>

<p>DNA has access to audit reports of KCA between 2010 to 2016 which state that &quot;more than Rs 12 crore were spent on maintaining a project office&quot;.</p>

<p>This Project Office was opened, near Madhava Pharmacy Junction on Banerji Road, specifically for the Edakochi International Stadium as indicated in the KCA Annual report 2010-11.</p>

<p>Even the statutory auditor of the state cricket association has no clue on how and where this money was spent.</p>

<p>The statutory auditor (Ms Varma &amp; Varma) has stated in all their annual reports from 2010-11 to 2015-16 that &quot;the accounts of the Project Office at Ernakulam have not been subject to audit by them, it is audited by a separate firm and we are only incorporating the assets/liabilities, income and expenses in their report&quot;.</p>

<p>None of these audit reports over six years contain the audited statement of accounts pertaining to the &quot;project office&quot;.</p>

<p>George, however, said the huge expenditure under the &quot;Project Office&quot; included all maintenance expenses on stadia/ grounds owned/ leased by KCA all over the state.</p>

<p>When asked to produce the audited statement of accounts related to this &quot;project office&quot; head to support this claim, George chose to remain silent.</p>

<p>And so the questions remain, &quot;Where have all those crores of rupees, intended for development of cricket in Kerala, gone?&quot;</p>

<p>And, &quot;Why have the BCCI and the present Committee of Administrators (COA) remained silent despite being aware of all these irregularities?&quot;</p>

<p>That was after a number of news organisations reported that Shastri had been picked as coach.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shastri had been thought of as the frontrunner all along.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Board of Control for Cricket in India had been expected to make an announcement on the new coach on Monday but it said yesterday that it was delaying the decision until it was able to speak with captain&nbsp;Virat Kohli. (The last coach, Anil Kumble, had reportedly had to go because of differences with Kohli.)&nbsp;</p>

<p>The announcement yesterday was made by&nbsp;Sourav Ganguly of the BCCI&#39;s Cricket Advisory Committee.</p>

<p>Ganguly had said then that the CAC -- made up of Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and VVS Laxman, and which had been tasked with finding the next coach -- had talked to the applicants but would also want to talk to Kohli to get his feedback on who best he could work with before announcing who would be the next coach of the Indian cricket team.</p>

<p>On Tuesday evening the BCCI finally announced that Shastri had got the job, and that Zaheer Khan would be the bowing coach.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Supreme Court on Friday asked the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Anurag Thakur to tender afresh an &ldquo;unequivocal&rdquo; and &ldquo;categorical&rdquo; apology before it in a contempt case initiated against him.</p>

<p>A bench, comprising Justices Dipak Misra, A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud, said it was not going to consider the earlier affidavit of apology filed by Mr. Thakur and asked him to file a &ldquo;one-page short affidavit&rdquo; tendering unconditional apology.</p>

<p>The bench indicated that it was willing to accept the apology and close the contempt proceedings against Mr. Thakur, a BJP MP from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.</p>

<p>Senior advocate P.S. Patwalia, appearing for Mr. Thakur, said though his client was willing to tender an unconditional apology, he has got a very good case on merit through which it can be proved that he did no wrong.</p>

<p>The apex court fixed the matter for July 14 and asked Mr. Thakur to remain present before it that day.</p>

<p>The court initiated the contempt proceedings against him on January 2 this year for filing a false affidavit over writing to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the issue of autonomy.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The conduct of the president of the BCCI in seeking a letter from the president of the ICC in August 2016, after the final judgment and Order of this Court, is nothing but an attempt on the part of the head of the BCCI to evade complying, with the Order of this Court,&rdquo; the court had said while issuing the show cause notice to Thakur.</p>

<p>Coming down heavily on the defiant BCCI brass, the court, on Januray 2, removed Mr. Thakur and Ajay Shirke as president and secretary for &ldquo;obstructing&rdquo; and &ldquo;impeding&rdquo; its directions for overhauling governance in the cricket body and appointed a committee of administrators to oversee the BCCI&rsquo;s functions.</p>
