'Only 16 years to go,'he declares to his 75-year-old son Babulal whose personality is a stark contrast from his father. Babulal is calculated man, who lives in the past, mopes too much and generally disapproves his father's way of living life. Which is why Dattareya decides to send his son to an old age home. When Babu resists, Datta agrees to let him stay provided he agrees to certain conditions and performs a few tasks as directed by Dattabhai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>More than four decades after he made his debut with the blockbuster teen romance "Bobby", veteran actor Rishi Kapoor says he now has the freedom to explore his characters and is no longer bracketed in an image.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The actor, 65, who mostly played the romantic hero in his youth, has transitioned into strong character roles, be it the endearing school teacher of "Do Dooni Chaar", the merciless human trafficker of "Agneepath" or the cantankerous 70-year-old son of a centenarian father in his new film "102 Not Out".</p>

<p>"I always try to be different and play varied kind of characters. I am not stagnating in one kind of an image. I am an actor who is doing his job. I am not making a career for myself. What safe (roles) can character actors play? They don't matter at all," Kapoor told PTI.</p>

<p>"Those hackneyed plots are not going to be accepted. It is a healthy thing that actors of my age are getting work today. I am not a young actor. People want to see different kind of films, they are fed up of seeing same formula.</p>

<p>"This is the era of actors now, non-actors are not going to survive. They maybe there for one or two films but if you are not competent enough you cannot survive," he added.</p>

<p>The actor says he will not sign a film if it does not offer something new and challenging.</p>

<p>"I want the role to excite me and I must feel passionate about doing the film. I will not do a run of the mill kind of a film or role. I will not say yes to that. Also, I will not do a film for money."</p>

<p>Kapoor has been a part of Hindi cinema for 45 years but his passion for films has only increased with years.</p>

<p>"I love my work. I am born and brought up into a family of cinema, family of actors. I only know how to act, I don't know anything else. I have been working for 45 years and I have done over 150 films. I am thankful to God that I get paid very much for what I love very much."</p>

<p>What intrigued Kapoor the most about Umesh Shukla directed "102 Not Out" is that the film is about a father-son relationship told in an entertaining way.</p>

<p>"It's a very different story about a 102-year-old man who has a 75-year-old son. I would imagine a son sending his father to old-age home, but here circumstances are such that the father wants to send his son to an old-age home," he said.</p>

<p>Kapoor says it is always a privilege to work with Amitabh Bachchan, who he has reunited with after 27 years.</p>

<p>"Mr Bachchan is a very loved and senior actor... He is the commanding superstar of our industry. And a wonderful actor and colleague to work with."</p>

<p>The two started working together more than 40 years ago with "Kabhi Kabhie" and the last film they did together "Ajooba" 27 years ago, he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kapoor calls himself a "student of cinema" who is always learning something, be it from older or junior actors.</p>

<p>"I picked up lot of things when I worked with Amit ji. The way he romances his role, the way he flirts with his role and gets into the character that is something I observed.</p>

The 75-year-old actor, who met renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan on Saturday in Mumbai to discuss about film preservation and restoration, said the cause deserves serious consideration and it is important that people from the film industry across the globe come together to save the medium.<br />

Nolan is in India&nbspon a three day trip along with visual artist Tacita Dean to promote the cause of film preservation and restoration.<br />

"Prominent dignitaries from the world of cinema gathered here in round table to debate and ascertain the importance of film heritage and its preservation. The word film has suddenly lost its charm for there does not seem to be any need to shoot films on film. It's all digital now.<br />

"It was known as the 'film industry', they were known as 'film stars'. So in the complete absence of that medium and that product, it would be quite in order to call ourselves 'robotic genes' or words of similar sound -- 'digi act' or 'digi digi'-- It would be an issue that would need consideration," Bachchan wrote on his blog.<br />

The actor said celluloid film is the "original format" and it is necessary to bring it back into the business.</p>

"It (film) had greater aesthetic value, and its preservation, an essential for posterity of having an original, than one that has been manufactured digitally. Digital is a derivative of the original film print so how would you feel if a xerox copy of a Picasso were to be up at a museum for attention and appreciation. Superstar Aamir Khan is currently focusing on his upcoming period drama "Thugs of Hindostan" and has not signed any other project, the actor's spokesperson today said. There were reports doing the rounds that Aamir has come on board for "Mogul" and "Osho". "There are many speculations about Aamir Khan doing numerous projects, but currently he is doing only 'Thugs Of Hindostan'. He has not signed any other project. If and when he does he will make an official announcement. Right now his focus is only on Thugs Of Hindostan," his spokesperson said in a statement. <p>In the opening scene of the trailer, Amitabh declares that he is just 16 years short to being the oldest man alive in the world and that he is going to do everything possible to make it happen. Almost three minutes long, the trailer shows how Rishi’s life brings down the spirit of his father (Amitabh) and his struggle to send Rishi to an old age home so that he can lead his colourful life without any obstacles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan took to his personal blog post to &quot;rubbish&quot; and call out against copyright laws in India that put&nbsp;a cap on his late father, Harivanshrai Bachchan&#39;s literary works to belong to Amitabh as private property.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to The Copyright Act, 1957, all&nbsp;literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works of a public figure can remain as a private property of the family only till 60 years after the person&#39;s death. As Amitabh&#39;s father, Dr Harivanshrai Bachchan, a known Hindi poet died in January 2003, his works will&nbsp;belong to the public domain and could be used without permission after 60 years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In his public outcry against the Act, Amitabh wrote: &quot;I oppose, disagree, lament, dispute, be&nbsp;in variance of, in vehement loud screams of voice&quot; over the cap. He challenged the Act and wrote,&nbsp;&ldquo;So who designed 60 years ? why 60 why not 61 , or why not perpetuity?&rdquo;</p>

<p>Amitabh added:&nbsp;&ldquo;...So what gets left as natural heir by Father Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan, after his passing passed 60 years, belongs no longer to his domain or possessive copyright as willed .. but becomes for the entire Universe to tread, scratch, mutilate, use in commercial consideration on their own creative discretion .. ???</p>

In 1982 while shooting for <em>Coolie</em>, he lost a lot of blood and his spleen was ruptured. He was in fact, pronounced clinically dead but recovered completely after a few months. In 1984, he was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, which made him weak physically and mentally and sent him into depression. However, Amitabh came out of it too.</p>

During the time of his treatment he wrote scripts like <em>Life In A Metro&nbsp;</em>and&nbsp;<em>Gangster.&nbsp;</em>He was diagnosed with&nbsp;acute promyelocytic leukaemia which is type of blood cancer, but has continued to fight on.</p>
