A video from inside a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tunisia on Thursday, September 10, shows passengers screaming because of severe turbulence. The pilot tried to land the plane three times, flying through a storm, but all three landing attempts at Tunis-Carthage International Airport were unsuccessful. It had to be diverted to Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport. The poor weather made the flight extremely dangerous. Instagram user @mmaiskaya shared a video from inside the cabin, showing passengers screaming and holding onto their seats as the plane shook violently in the storm.
A Delta Air Lines flight left Los Angeles Airport on Sunday (Sep 6), and just before it was to land at the Salt Lake City Airport, it rapidly dropped to 9,000 feet. Oxygen masks were released as the scary incident unfolded on the Boeing 737-900ER. Thankfully, the plane reached a safe altitude without any untoward incident on board. Reports suggest that the incident happened because of a cabin depressurisation event.

The pilots do not mention the emergency clearly to Air Traffic Control in the cockpit audio shared by Flight Drama on X. One passenger shared the experience on Reddit, saying it was a pressurisation system failure and "pretty traumatic." As the system failed, oxygen masks were automatically deployed. The pilots were forced to perform an emergency rapid descent to an altitude of about 9,000 to 10,000 feet where passengers could breathe naturally.

Plane diverted to Las Vegas airport

The aircraft was near the Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas at the time and the pilots declared an emergency and diverted towards it. The plane landed in Las Vegas without any problem. It remained there for some time where the minor valve or software issue responsible for the depressurisation was likely fixed. The same flight took off for Salt Lake City and landed safely later that evening.

Passengers complained of sudden ear pain and distress inside the plane as it descended sharply. They said that during the harrowing experience, when they were wearing the oxygen masks, they could barely hear the announcements from flight attendants.

This is the second time a depressurisation problem has occurred on a Delta flight this year. In January, an Airbus A319 rapidly descended from 36,000 feet to below 10,000 feet due to a slow pressure leak. However, the pilots were aware that a gradual loss was happening.

Plane diverted to Las Vegas airport The aircraft was near the Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas at the time and the pilots declared an emergency and diverted towards it.

A Briton flying to Spain got drunk and assaulted a flight steward, trying to kiss him on the neck. He managed to leave the airport upon arrival without any hassle. However, he was arrested while trying to board the return flight.

A British man flying from London to Spain has been arrested for allegedly trying to kiss a male steward on the flight. The 30-year-old was heavily drunk when he got handsy with the steward, and tried kissing his neck. The rest of the crew saw the assault and stepped in. The pilot radioed in to air traffic controllers and informed them about the incident. Police got onto the Ryanair flight as soon as it touched down in Majorca. The alleged assault was investigated; however, the tourist escaped arrest initially. The steward decided not to press charges, but later changed his mind and accused him of sexual assault. However, by then the man had passed through passport control. He was arrested while taking the return flight to London. The tourist was taken to the court, after which an investigation was launched into the kissing incident on the flight. He was released on bail. It is unclear whether he is still in Majorca or has returned to England. Another Briton assaulted a male steward on the plane last year The case comes after another Briton assaulted a steward on a flight from Newcastle to Palma last year. Court documents show that Mark Turnbull touched a flight attendant’s bottom and nipples “in a lewd way”. Prosecutors told the court that the man touched the victim's chest area and "pinched his right nipple". When the steward, holding the snacks and beverage trolley, turned his back against him, he grabbed his buttocks with both his hands, the prosecutors said. Upon seeing the assault, other passengers intervened and restrained the man. The pilot informed airport officials about the incident. The police caught hold of the man after the flight landed, who got aggressive and resisted arrest. He later confessed to the crime on a video call.

The era of cutthroat fare wars in aviation is hitting a wall. In 2026, global airlines are prioritizing profitability over passenger volume, leading to widespread flight cuts and reduced seat availability. With rising fuel prices, persistent engine maintenance queues, and constrained fleet deliveries, carriers are choosing to fly fewer routes at higher price points rather than risking operational collapse.

Airlines Priorities Capacity Utilisation over Fare Cuts

Nigeria Cuts 30% Airline Debts Amid Sharp Rise in Jet Fuel Prices

Nigeria is considering a partial debt write-off for domestic airlines as part of efforts to stabilise the country’s aviation sector. President Tinubu has requested a formal proposal to evaluate possible relief measures aimed at supporting struggling carriers facing mounting operational costs and financial pressures.

Nigeria Considers Partial Debt Write-Off for Airlines; President Tinubu Seeks Formal Proposal

Bola Tinubu has agreed in principle to offer partial debt relief to domestic airlines as Nigeria grapples with soaring fuel prices.

Airline operators have warned they may suspend operations due to rising costs, raising concerns over connectivity and economic disruption. The move highlights the growing pressure on emerging economies dealing with fuel price shocks and currency challenges.

Air travellers in India won’t see relief on seat selection charges just yet. The government has kept the proposed 60% free seat rule in abeyance, citing further review. Airlines had warned that reducing fees could hurt revenue and push ticket prices higher. For now, only a small portion of seats remain free to choose, leaving passengers to continue paying for preferred options.

Indian Govt Suspends 60% Free Flight Seat Rule

The Indian Government has suspended the rule requiring airlines to allocate 60% of seats for free or discounted travel, a policy aimed at promoting accessibility for students, senior citizens, and certain government scheme beneficiaries. Authorities cited operational challenges and rising costs as reasons for the suspension.
