<p>SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) has all but finalised their retentions ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction in December later this year. SRH has decided to retain South African powerp-hitter Heinrich Klaasen, Aussie Pat Cummins and India youngster Abhishek Sharma.</p>

<p>The development was reported by cricket news website ESPNCricinfo which also mentioned that SRH is also in the final stage of finalising the retention of Aussie opener Travis Head and India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.</p>

<p>Among Klaasen, Cummins and Abhishek, the Protea&nbsp;is the first-choice retention for INR 23 crore (US $2.74 million approx.), the Aussie comes second at INR 18 crore (US $2.14 million approx.) while the Indian is last at INR 14 crore (US $1.67 million approx).</p>

<p>Cummins, who also led SRH last season, is also expected to continue to do the skipper duties this season as well. The Aussie had a brilliant season as a bowler as well, taking 18 wickets in 16 games he played - the second highest for the team.</p>

<p>Sharma, the youngster who made his India debut on the back of IPL performance, had hit 484 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 204.21 - the best among top 10 run getters of the 2024 season.</p>

<p>Head, on the other hand, had hit 567 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 191.55. He was the fourth-highest run-getter of the season overall.</p>

<p>Klaasen, meanwhile, scored 479 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 171.07 - the third most for SRH behind Head and Sharma.</p>

<p>Nitish also played a crucial role in middle for SRH, scoring 303 runs at 142.92 and taking three wickets as well.</p>

<p>SRH had a brilliant season last year, finishing second in league stage with eight wins in 14 games - largely thanks for the explosive batting of Head and Sharma up the order and Klaasen in the middle.</p>

'If it's in my arc...': Abhishek Sharma reveals batting mantra after magnificent 100 in Ind vs Zim 2nd T20I

<p>Abhishek Sharma was all over the news for his record-equalling third-fastest T20I hundred for India against Zimbabwe on Sunday (Jul&nbsp;7) in Harare; however, the mantra to his success is far from what was on display. During a chat on bcci.tv after the game, Abhishek revealed he borrowed Captain Shubman Gill’s bat for this game, and that did wonders for the opener, though not for the first time.</p>

<p>Abhishek and Gill are close friends and have grown up together, having played junior level and Under-19 cricket since. With both playing for India now, Abhishek admitted every time he plays with Gill’s bat, he scores runs. The left-handed batter said this has happened even in the IPL, with his outing in his second India game being the latest example.</p>

<p>“This has been going on since Under-14 cricket. Whenever I have played with his bat, I’ve done well. I want to tell everyone that even today (on Sunday), I played with his bat, which wasn’t an easy task. It’s my last option for a comeback. Special thanks to him for lending me his bat on time,” Abhishek said in a video shared by BCCI.</p>

<p>“It had happened in the IPL as well. Today was no exception as it went well as it usually happens,” Abhishek added.</p>

<h2>Yuvraj lauds Abhishek</h2>

<p>A four-ball duck in the first T20I might be disappointing for Abhishek, but not for his mentor and one of India’s greatest match-winners, Yuvraj Singh. Abhishek said after the first match, he spoke with Yuvraj on the phone, and instead of the India veteran scolding him for playing a careless shot, he lauded his beginning, saying it was a good start to his career.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Abhishek credited Yuvraj for putting in the hard work and guiding him to the right path, which led to his India call-up.&nbsp;</p>

Per the latest reports, India will field a few debutants, including attacking all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and middle-order batter Riyan Parag. While Shubman Gill will lead the team, a couple of new faces in the pace attack could also take the field.</p>

<p>The batter, who has already hit the fastest fifty for his team (off 18 balls) earlier in the season, also thanked former cricketers Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh for his development as a batter.</p>

<p>Lucknow Super Giants batsman Nicholas Pooran smashed three consecutive sixes in the 16th over of the chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad to turn the game in his team's favour.</p>

Filmmaker Abhishek Sharma's 'Ram Setu' has Kumar debunking arguments about Ramayan being fiction and 'scientifically' proving that the famous bridge also known as Adam's bridge was actually made by Lord Ram in order to protect his wife Sita's honour.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the beginning of the film, we are told it's the year 2007 and Kumar plays Dr Aryan Kulsheshtra- a star archaeologist who does not always play by the rule book. He is an atheist who objects to his wife Gayatri's (Nushrat Bharucha) way of rearing their son with mythological comic books, he knows his job all too well and debunks anything related to religion.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
A private shipping company wants to break the Ram Setu or Adam's bridge to save to nautical miles and fuel. The bridge connects India and Sri Lanka, and Hindus for centuries have believed that it was constructed by Lord Ram when he went to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from the evil clutches of Ravan. While mythology states that Lord Ram along with a group of monkeys helped in building the bridge, when one thinks of it logically, it is a result of the geological evolution of rocks.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
As Aaryan submits his initial report based on scientific research he also calls Ramayan a work of fiction. Naturally, the conservatives shun him and a suspension order is released soon after. He is then approached by the owner( Nasser) of the shipping company to visit the actual site and submit a detailed report to the government debunking the theory of the bridge being man-made.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
His research leads him to believe that the structure could possibly be man-made and he sets out on a difficult mission to search Ravan's golden Lanka along with environmentalist Dr Sandra (Jacqueline Fernandez). Naturally, the journey is not a bed of roses as goons of the shipping company are out to kill them in order to stub the facts, There is also an impending court verdict and so Aaryan needs to present his argument before the court in a day's time.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Written by Sharma himself, with dialogues by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, 'Ram Setu' tries very hard to give a liberal approach to a very Hindu narrative. So there is mild shading at the Taliban regime, at Afghanistan's deplorable conditions and even a snide comment on how the army controls Pakistan- all facts but still slightly unnecessary to the narrative.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The screenplay is not the best where Kumar's scruffy beard is inconsistent through the scenes, Jacqueline's hairdo is salon-ready as she runs through jungles, dives underwater in search of hidden tunnels and travels on a chopper- but not a strand of hair is out of place.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
It is not a very performance-driven film and Akshay Kumar sleepwalks through his role - it's a familiar role and Kumar almost feels jaded playing Dr Aryan. Fernandez is there only to ask questions, she really doesn't have too many dialogues and Bharucha has limited screen time. There is also actor Satyadev Kancharana as Lankan guide AP who brings in some amount of vibrancy to an otherwise very dull narrative.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The corals, the underwater sequences, the supposed islands, the mid-water labs - all are laughable. The shots of the supposed bridge when Kumar approaches wearing a space suit look like scenes out of a children's show.<br />
<br />
While the film naturally plays to the gallery and sets out to be an adventure film- with terrible VFX, it also meanders towards jingoism ever so often making it a middling affair throughout. I would have enjoyed ignoring how it very nonchalantly debunks logic if the film had just concentrated on being an adventure film. Instead its a mish-mash with certain exciting chase sequences but nothing else.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
'Ram Setu' tries to be educational wrapped in an adventurous film. But it fails on both counts.&nbsp;<br />

Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi starred with the bat as SRH chased down the target of 155 runs with 14 balls to spare to secure their first three points of the season.</p>

<p>Both CSK and SRH headed into the clash winless in IPL 2022. While CSK had lost their first three games in a row under new skipper Ravindra Jadeja, SRH had suffered defeats in their first two matches. Put to bat first, CSK openers disappointed once again as both Ruturaj Gaikwad (16) and Robin Uthappa (15) were dismissed cheaply in the Powerplay.</p>

<p>Moeen Ali played a great knock of 48 runs and combined with Ambati Rayudu (27) to post a 62-run stand for the third wicket before CSK lost wickets in quick succession and failed to finish strongly. It was skipper Jadeja, who helped the side post a fighting total of 154 runs on the board with a quickfire 23 off 15 balls.</p>

<p>Sharma and Williamson added a partnership of 89 runs for the first wicket before Rahul Tripathi arrived in the middle and took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners Sharma and Tripathi combined to add 56 runs for the second wicket to set up a comfortable win for the Orange Army. Sharma's fiery knock was his maiden fifty in IPL 2022 as he cemented his spot as an opener in the side.</p>

<p>“Its been a great journey. I learned a lot from each film,” says Abhishek of his years in the world of entertainment&nbsp;and adds, “Two of the five films I made have had a great impact on the audience (‘Tere Bin Laden’ &amp; ‘Parmanu’) and I am grateful for that. Even the other films which didn’t succeed as much have helped me to improve my craft as a director and so I’m thankful to those experiences as well.”</p>

<p>Over the course of a decade of being a part of the industry, Abhishek&nbsp;feels that “the industry has become much more brave in terms of content creation and cinema has evolved a lot”. He says, “We are surely in the second golden age of hindi film industry.”</p>

<p>Ask him about the power he yields as a filmmaker as cinema is single-handedly the most impactful tool of opinion maker, Abhishek agrees and says, “Cinema is the most powerful medium in the world and as filmmakers we should take our jobs seriously as influencers. Films are soft power and Bollywood represents India in hundreds of countries.”</p>

<p>“It is up to us how we want to shape the narrative of new India and how we want to evolve as storytellers," he adds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Abhishek is currently busy with the post-production work of his upcoming film ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ featuring Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. Produced by Zee Studios, the film's shoot was completed prior to the nationwide lockdown.&nbsp;Talking of the film, he says, “SPMB is a genre defining family comedy. It is a fun film with the 90s nostalgia and a fair bit of social satire. This is a first film that looks at the business of wedding detectives and how they become a pain in the life of unsuspecting grooms. It is a hilarious and clean movie to be enjoyed by families. We have a stellar cast and it was a great ensemble of very talented actors coming together.”&nbsp;</p>

I feel I’m blessed with a sense of humour and thus I love to direct comedies. However like Parmanu I would want to also do other genre films.”</p>
