
The Indian contingent has been on a roll in the Paris Paralympics 2024 edition. IndiaendedDay 8, on Thursday (Sep 5), with 25 medals overall -- i.e. their best-ever haul in aParalympic edition-- and have a chance to add to their medal tally when their athletes take part on Day 9 events, on Friday (Sep 6). The focus will be on the likes of Simran, Dipesh Kumar, Prachi Yadav, Pooja Ojha, etc. to bring more laurels for India.
Simran missed out on bagging a medal in women's 100m T12 final, by finishing fourth with a timing of 12.31 seconds, on Thursday. She, however, will be back in action in the Round 1 of the Women’s 200-metre event. A desperate Simran will be keen to add to India's medals tally.
In the men’s javelin, Dipesh will tryto follow the footsteps of Sumit Antil, who earlier defended his Olympic crown. Dipesh will take part in the F54 Finals and aim fora podium-finish.
India's hopes will also rest on the men’s KL1 200M Heats in Para Canoe where Yash Kumar will take centrestage. Moreover, the likes of Dilip Gavit, Praveen Kumar, Bhavanaben Chaudhary, Soman Rana and Hokato Sema are the others who will also be taking part in the athletics events on Day 9.
In addition, Prachi, Pooja are the participants in Para canoe events whereas Kasthuri Rajamani will be in action in the women’s Up To 67 KG Final inpowerlifting.
