Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy bagged the bronze medal in badminton women's doubles at the 21st Commonwealth Games on Saturday after defeating Setyana Mapasa and Gronya Somerville of Australia.

The dramatic match ended when Indian duo outplayed the Australians with their experience and marked the victory.

Ponnappa and Reddy won the match in the straight sets 21-19, 21-19 but as the scores reveal, each set was a neck-to-neck clash.

At a point, in the second set, Australian duo bounced back to level the scores at 18-18 and again at 19-19 but then Ponnappa and Reddy earned two crucial points and clinched the bronze medal.

On the other hand, unfortunately, India's Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwik Rankireddy lost to Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh of Malaysia 0-2 (19-21, 19-21) in the badminton mixed doubles bronze medal match.
