The Indian women's cricket team landed in Mumbai early on Wednesday.
They were met with a rousing welcome from their fans.
"None of us ever experienced this kind of reception," ANI reported captain Mithali Raj as saying.
"Good that women are doing really in sports and they should be celebrated," she added.

The Indian team had got to the finals of the recent World Cup held in England and looked on course to win when a late burst from England took the game away from them.

Despite the loss in the final -- the team had won pretty much everything up to then -- some commentators have said the side has changed the women's game in the country forever.
