At least 25 terrorists belonging to the Islamic State were killed in an airstrike carried out by the United States in Afghanistan's northern Jawzjan province bordering Turkmenistan, officials said on Tuesday.
US forces used Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, a subsonic bomber aircraft to conduct the airstrikes.
The B-52 warplane targeted an Islamic State terrorist group hideout in Darzaab district of the province on Tuesday.
"Twenty-five [Daesh] militants were killed. They included Uzbek, Chechen and Arab militants," Mohammad Reza said, adding there were no civilian casualties.
Earlier reports said that 13 IS militants lost their lives after the bombing which occurred in Sar Dara locality of the mountainous Darzab district in Jawzjan, 390 km north of Kabul.
Since last week, the US forces in Afghanistan have conducted air operations to target Taliban training facilities in Badakhshan province according to a report by NATO-led Resolute Support Mission.
