The camp of army unit 1 Rashtriya Rifles was located in Khudwani village, ANI reported.

The area is being cordoned off and a search operation is underway.

The same evening, terrorists decamped with two service rifles of two policemen in Anantnag's&nbsp;Dabran area.

Terrorists fire at army camp in J&K's Kulgam

The CBI on Friday told the Delhi High Court that the 2G spectrum case allegedly involving former telecom minister A Raja, DMK lawmaker Kanimozhi and others was "a case of monumental loss and a shame to the nation". 
 
Challenging the acquittal of the DMK leaders and others, Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench of Justice SP Garg that huge loss to the public exchequer had been caused due to the spectrum allocation scam. 
 
"This is a case of monumental loss and a shame to the nation," Mr Mehta said. 
 
The ASG also opposed the plea of the accused seeking more time to file their response saying "delaying tactics" were being adopted by them to prolong the proceedings. 
 
The high court has now posted the CBI's plea challenging their acquittal by a special court in the 2G spectrum case for August 2 while the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) plea has been fixed for August 6. 
 
During the hearing, lawyers for some of the accused in the case said that a number of charge sheets have been filed in these cases and they should be heard separately. 
 
The high court had earlier issued notices to Mr Raja, Ms Kanimozhi and others on the CBI's plea challenging their acquittal by a special court in the 2G spectrum case.

A similar order was passed by Justice Garg on the plea of the ED challenging their acquittal in the money laundering case arising out of the 2G scam case. 
 
The court had also allowed the interim plea of the ED for maintaining status quo with regard to the properties worth around&nbspRs.&nbsp223 crore which the agency had attached in the money laundering case. 
 
The ED did not want the properties to be released from attachment, a consequence of the acquittal in the money laundering case, saying that third party rights might be created in them. 
 
On March 19, the ED moved the high court challenging the special court's order acquitting all the accused in the money laundering case arising out of the 2G scam. 
 
Yesterday, the CBI too challenged in the high court the acquittal of the accused in the case. 
 
A special court on December 21 last year had acquitted Mr Raja, Ms Kanimozhi and others in the CBI and ED cases. 
 
Besides Mr Raja and Ms Kanimozhi, the special court had acquitted 17 others, including DMK chief M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal, Shahid Balwa and Vinod Goenka of STPL, Asif Balwa and Rajiv Aggarwal of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, film producer Karim Morani, P Amirtham and Sharad Kumar, Director of Kalaignar TV in the ED case. 
 
The ED, in its charge sheet, had alleged that&nbspRs.&nbsp200 crore was paid by Swan Telecom (P) Ltd (STPL) promoters to DMK-run Kalaignar TV. 
 
On the same day, the trial court had acquitted Mr Raja, Ms Kanimozhi and 15 others, including former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja's erstwhile private secretary R K Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka, Unitech Ltd MD Sanjay Chandra and three top executives of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (RADAG) -- Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair, in the CBI's 2G case. 
 
The CBI had alleged that there was a loss of&nbspRs.&nbsp30,984 crore to the exchequer in allocation of licences for the 2G spectrum which were scrapped by the top court on February 2, 2012. 
 
Special Judge O P Saini, however, had held that the prosecution had "miserably failed" to prove the charges. 
 
The special court, which was set up on March 14, 2011 for hearing 2G cases exclusively, had also acquitted Essar Group promoters Ravi Kant Ruia and Anshuman Ruia and six others in a separate case arising out of the 2G scam probe. 
 
The first case, prosecuted by CBI, had 17 accused, while the second matter, pursued by ED, had 19 undertrials. The third one had eight accused including Essar promoters.

In the CBI case, Raja, Kanimozhi and 15 others were tried under provisions of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery among others.

Karan Johar celebrates his birthday in New York

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) expressway, also known as Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) on Sunday.

The inaugural ceremony will be held at the District Sports stadium of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.

The 135-km expressway is India's first smart and green highway and is built at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore.

The EPE is also the country's first highway to be lit by solar power and at every 500 metres, the arrangement of rainwater harvesting has been done on both sides of the expressway.

Replicas of 36 monuments of the country have been established at the gallery on both the side.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the expressway will bring down the pollution level in the national capital by 27 per cent.

"If people from Himachal Pradesh want to visit Uttar Pradesh or someone from Rajasthan wants to visit Himachal Pradesh, they can now straight go to that place. They do not need to enter Delhi," Gadkari said.&nbsp

Veteran Bollywood actress Geeta Kapoor breathed her last in a Mumbai old age home on Saturday morning. She was 67.&nbsp;

She had been living in an old age home after she was reportedly abandoned by her son and daughter, last year.

In a humanitarian gesture, film producer Ramesh Taurani and Ashoke Pandit had been caring for the actress and were paying her medical bills after her children turned their backs on her.&nbsp;

Her son Raja is a choreographer and her daughter Pooja is an air hostess.

"Heartbreaking! `Pakeezah` actress Geeta Kapoor passes away after waiting to see her children one last time," tweeted her friend and film-personality Ashoke Pandit.

An infiltration bid was thwarted by the forces in Jammu & Kashmir's Tangdhar sector early on Saturday. At least five terrorists were killed in the&nbsp;operation by the&nbsp;Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC).

The fresh infiltration attempt comes a day after Indian Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat said Pakistan should "stop infiltration" if it aims to end turbulence at the border. The general also called for an end to unprovoked firing by the Pakistani forces.

Earlier in the month, with the onset of Ramzan, the Centre announced the suspension of all operations targeting the militants in the Kashmir Valley.

The Union Home Ministry has said the decision has been taken to help the "peace-loving Muslims observe Ramzan in a peaceful environment".

However, it clarified that the security forces "reserve the right to retaliate if attacked or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people".

BJP leaders Ganeshi Lal and Kummanam Rajasekharan were today appointed as Governors of Odisha and Mizoram respectively.&nbsp;

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, Professor Ganeshi Lal will take over as the new governor of Odisha, a post which had fallen vacant in March this year after veteran Naga leader S C Jamir completed his tenure.&nbsp;

Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik had been given additional charge of Odisha.

Lal is a former Haryana BJP chief. "The President of India has been pleased to appoint Prof. Ganeshi Lal to be the Governor of Odisha with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the communique said.

In his second order, the President appointed Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan as the Governor of Mizoram.

He will be replacing Lt. General (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma, who is completing his tenure on May 28, 2018.

The National Investigation Agency has detained an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Muneer-ul-Hassan Qadri from Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday.

The NIA's arrest has been made in connection with the 2016 terror attack on an army camp in the state's Nagrota.

The attack on the army camp had claimed the lives of seven soldiers and two officers. The counter operation had killed three Pakistani terrorists and recovered a huge quantity of firearms, ammunition, explosives and other articles.

The JeM operative was in the custody of police for some time.&nbsp

A case was registered by the National Investigation Agency into the incident in December 2016 under sections 120B, 121, 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and sections seven and 27 of the Arms Act, 1958.&nbsp

Director Shashank Khaitan says he wishes to give audiences a unique experience with his upcoming warrior film 'Rannbhoomi'.

The film is slated for a Diwali 2020 release.

In February this year, filmmaker Karan Johar had announced the project with Varun Dhawan in lead and Shashank believes the genre is still not completely explored in Hindi cinema.

'Baahubali' is an example of a warrior film, it is an Indian film. We have explored that space in Hindi cinema with 'Jodha Akbar', 'Padmaavat' but we have not gone all out.

"The opportunity we are seeking right now is to create something new and be remembered for it. It is a great opportunity to have Karan backing it and Varun ready to go with my vision," Shashank told PTI.

The director credited SS Rajamouli's epic war drama for opening up the market and showing people the potential of Indian cinema.

"We are hoping to create something unique with 'Rannbhoomi'. We hope people like it," he added.

Shashank said in terms of story ideas, Hindi films were no way behind Hollywood movies, but they do lack when it came to special effects.

"They make a film with a budget of 500 million dollars which we are going to make it in ten million dollars. I don't think we are any lesser in terms of thoughts, ideas, stories. A 'Baahubali' shows you can do things intelligently even if it is not of the highest level of animation, it has the highest level of thought. The construction of the film is beautiful and that is where the focus should be," the director said.

"Our animation and technique will improve when more and more countries are able to watch our films and get better recovery," he added.

While there were reports that Sara Ali Khan would be part of this film, Shashank refuted the rumours.

"No one is finalised. The story is in place, work on the screenplay is on. We will get down to casting once we are completely done with writing so that we can give proper narration as opposed to a one-liner."

Shashank will be seen judging a dance reality show 'Dance Deewane'&nbsp;along with Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Tushar Kalia. It will be aired on Colors channel from&nbsp;

With the electioneering for the Kairana Lok Sabha seat nearly over, the Samajwadi Party made clear on Friday that its president Akhilesh Yadav will not address any rally in support of the joint opposition candidate.

News agency PTI quoting an SP leader said there was no need for him to campaign given the anti-BJP mood in the Uttar Pradesh constituency where a bye-election will be held on May 28.

The party had earlier indicated that Yadav may address a rally in support of Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Tabassum Hasan, who is also being backed by the SP, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress.

The Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after the death of BJP MP Hukum Singh, whose daughter Mriganka Singh is now that party's candidate.

A bypoll will also be held for the Noorpur assembly constituency in the state on the same day.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently attacked Akhilesh Yadav over the 2013 riots in neighbouring Muzaffarnagar, virtually daring him to campaign.

The SP chief doesn't have the courage to come here and campaign. His hands are stained with the blood of Muzaffarnagar riot victims," Adityanath had said during an election meeting in Saharanpur.

"The SP president is yet to be seen here, as people will question him about the Muzaffarnagar riots if he comes here," he had said.

SP legislator Sunil Singh Sajan said the party workers had initially asked Yadav to hold a rally in Kairana.

However, later we only asked him not to come, especially after seeing the frustration in the speech of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he told.

He said in the prevailing anti-BJP mood there was no need for him to campaign. Also, Lok Dal candidate Kanwar Hasan had now pulled out of the contest, he added.

"The SP president has not campaigned for the bye-elections on both Kairana and Noorpur seats though he has been in direct touch with party leaders and office bearers there," SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.

"A written appeal by him has been sent but he has not gone there personally," Chaudhary said, adding that the decision on this was taken by the party.

The opposition campaign is being led by RLD leaders Ajit Singh and Jayant Chaudhary.

The prime minister said the nation had moved from "Kala Dhan" (black money) to "Jan Dhan" (money of the people).

"In these four years, the 125 crore Indian have come to believe that our India can change. Today the nation is going from 'Kala Dhan to 'Jan Dhan', from bad governance to good governance," PM Modi said.

Referring to his policy of demonetisation and the opposition parties uniting against the BJP, the PM said, "Chaos was caused for some when we made strict laws against black money, it made many come together and stand on the same stag, those accused in big scams are coming together now."

"Till 2014, 39 per cent of the population had access to sanitation facilities, today the figure is over 80 per cent. From independence till 2014 there were around six crore toilets in the country but in last four years 7.5 crore toilets have been made," the prime minister said.

PM Modi also blamed the previous governments in Odisha for a lack of proper health facilities in the state. He said the central government was doing "everything it can in this direction".

"There is lack of proper health facilities in several places. Situation is worse here in Odisha. I wonder what were the previous governments doing? Even if state governments aren't carrying out their responsibilities properly, centre is doing everything it can in this direction," PM Modi said.

The prime minister also promised to address the challenges faced by the farmers of Odisha due to the Mahanadi river dispute with &nbsp;Chhattisgarh.

"Due to the Mahanadi water dispute, farmers of Odisha are suffering. We are committed to resolve their problems and address the challenges they have to face," PM Modi said.

"It is my good fortune that I got the opportunity to greet my 125 crore countrymen from the land of great Lord Jagannath," PM Modi said earlier. "Great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born in this holy land."

Here are a few films we are looking forward to and some that made news last year. a) 'Hope Aur Hum': This good family film is directed by Sudip Bandyopadhyay, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Sonali Kulkarni. Sudip Bandyopadhyay is an ace ad filmmaker who is making his directorial debut in Bollywood. The filmmaker has used his ad film learnings and has created a 90 minute film that tells a story of three generations learning to deal with change in their own way. The film releases on May 11 and it is a complete family film. b)'102 Not Out': The film directed by Umesh Shukla is staring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. This movie is a family comedy that looks at the relationship of Amitabh Bachchan, who plays a fun loving jovial father who wants to break the record of the oldest living man, and his son who is exactly the opposite in character. The film already got released on 4th May 2018 and is an hour and is 107 minutes long. c)'Omerta': This Hansal Mehta directed film has Rajkumar as the terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The film follows the life of the terrorist and all that he has done, it uses news videos and footage. This film has been in the making for over 12 years now. The film is about 96 minutes long. It released on 4th May 2018. d)'Meri Nimmo': Rahul Shankara's 'Meri Nimmo' stars Newton Actress Anjali Patil in the lead role. The film revolves around Nimmo (Anjali) and her little companion, Hemu who is a young schoolboy. The film is 90 minutes long and is screening on Eros Now. e) 'Haraamkhor': Director Shlok Sharma’s 'Haraamkhor' is well known not just for its story or the fact that two amazing actors, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi star in the film. Indian remake of 'Criminal Justice' to star Pankaj Tripathi

A Delhi court on Saturday allowed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy to summon those documents, officials after examination, as evidence in the National Herald case.

The court has also disallowed Swamy's petition in the case seeking Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi to either admit or deny the documents filed by him on whether they are originals.

Meanwhile, Swamy said, "What Court is saying is that instead of accused confirming or denying, you move the evidence becoming a witness yourself and summon documents and witnesses who are competent and at that stage, we'll decide on the admissibility of the documents."

Swamy, petitioner in the case had filed three applications in which he had accused Rahul and Sonia Gandhi and others of allegedly misappropriating funds.

On January 20, the court of metropolitan magistrate Ambika Singh had ordered the documents submitted by the petitioner in the case, Swamy, to be kept in a sealed cover till next hearing.

Swamy, in his plea, alleged that the Congress party granted an interest-free loan of Rs. 90.25 crore to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), owner of the National Herald newspaper. In November last year, the two Congress leaders filed their response to the application filed by Swamy.

In the response, they stated that the application filed by Swamy was not bonafide and filled with the sole object of "delaying the proceedings in a lifeless case".&nbsp;

Four years of Modi: Rahul Gandhi's report card

BJP President Amit Shah said on Saturday that members of the party wanted to fight along with the Shiv Sena in the 2019 elections.

"I repeat this, that we want Shiv Sena and BJP to fight together in 2019 elections," Amit Shah said while addressing the press in New Delhi.

Asked about the Shiv Sena not wanting to ally with the BJP, Amit Shah said, "You should ask them", adding that&nbsp;they are still together in both the centre and the Maharashtra governments.

Yesterday, while referring to the growing conflict with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Amit Shah had said he would not want to give up the coalition with the party but that the BJP will not be left with an option if the Shiv Sena insisted on breaking up the old time alliance with them.

In a scathing editorial on Friday in its mouthpiece "Saamana", the Shiv Sena had called the BJP a "mad murderer" that was stabbing anyone coming in its way.

The Sena said it had decided to fight all the elections alone, be it the Palghar bypoll or the recently-held Legislative Council elections.

"This is just the beginning of tomorrow's fight," the Sena had said in an apparent reference to the next year's Lok Sabha elections. 
 
In his press conference, Amit Shah also addressed the question of rising prices of petrol and diesel that was being raised by the Congress.

"The current prices of petrol and diesel were the same during three years of Congress government. But they are fed up of these raised prices in only three days in our government? Government is thinking about that and will form a long-term solution for it," the BJP chief said.

On Rahul Gandhi's tweet marking the performance of the Modi government in four years, Amit Shah said, "What else do you expect from Rahul Gandhi? He is in the opposition, he has to do this. Woh&nbsp;thodi na hamare bakhan karenge. (They will not praise us). We have presented facts and figures and anyone can challenge that."

In the run up to the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray released an audio clip, purportedly of Maharashtra chief minister asking BJP workers to use all possible means to win the by-election, even as Devendra Fadnavis Saturday termed it "twisted".

Fadnavis said he was ready to face action if what he said in the clip was found to be inappropriate.

He also released a 14-minute audio clip, claiming that it was the complete version of the "twisted" clip that was released by Thackeray during a rally on Friday.

In the audio clip, Fadnavis is purportedly heard exhorting BJP workers to win the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll, slated for May 28, by using all means.

"The Shiv Sena can see it is losing and has, thus, stooped to such levels. The Sena twisted my audio clip and presented it before the people to misguide them.

"The full audio clip is 14 minutes long. I will myself submit this audio clip to the Election Commission," Fadnavis said while addressing a poll rally in suburban Vasai.

The chief minister alleged that the Sena had edited the clip.

"My last sentence in the clip was that we are in power, but we will never misuse it. This line they never released. Had they shown it, their claims would have fallen flat," he said.

"Listen to the whole clip released by the Sena. If there is anything wrong that I have said, I am ready to face action," Fadnavis said.

Speaking at a rally last evening, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had released the audio clip, in which Fadnavis was purportedly heard asking BJP workers to use "saam, daam, dand, bhed" (all possible means) to win the Palghar by-election.

"If somebody is challenging our existence in Palghar and has betrayed our trust, back-stabbed us, while calling itself our ally, then they should be taught a lesson. We should not be sitting quiet now. We should also launch a big attack and show them what the BJP is," Fadnavis is purportedly heard telling BJP workers in the clip.

"If we want to win this election, then an answer has to be given in the same measure... Give an answer by using 'saam, daam, dand, bhed' (negotiation, money, punishment and division).

"Do not tolerate anybody's bullying. On the contrary, bully them... I will stand behind you," the chief minister is heard saying in the clip.

The BJP said it would complain to the Election Commission (EC) about the Sena's alleged "misuse of technology".

After releasing the audio yesterday, Thackeray had demanded that the EC act against Fadnavis.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said the use of such language against an opponent did not befit a chief minister.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Ashok Chavan sought Fadnavis' clarification on the audio clip.

"The CM should issue a clarification about the clip. We demand a probe into it and appropriate action by the Election Commission," Chavan said.

"If the clip is authentic, then the chief minister should immediately resign, but if it is fake, then Fadnavis should take action against Uddhav Thackeray," Chavan tweeted.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik demanded a probe by the EC and a complaint against the chief minister under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

"If the chief minister is threatening people in such a manner, then it amounts to vitiating the election atmosphere," he said.

"The chief minister and ordinary citizens are all equal before law when it comes to following the election code of conduct. The Shiv Sena should make a written complaint to the EC instead of resorting to such tactics," Malik said.

Responding to the clip and the allegations, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said, "The Sena is showing an incomplete and edited audio clip because it is shaken foreseeing its imminent defeat."

"We will complain to the Election Commission about the condemnable misuse of technology and also release the full clip," he said.&nbsp
