Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's good governance saying that his unbiased development has benefitted the citizens of the country.

Speaking to ANI, on the completion of four years of Modi government, Adityanath said, "I congratulate the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) his entire cabinet for successful four years in the central government. The policies of development have reached the poor, disadvantaged, women and farmers without any discrimination and casteism."

Adityanath further said that he had faith that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India will soon be a superpower.

He added that the people have a belief that the BJP government would continue to serve the people for providing all-round development.

Adityanath took a dig at the Congress saying that the party has been discarded by the people of the country in the 2014 general elections and said it would be defeated again in the next year's general elections.

Union Minister Arun Jaitley today said aspirational India will reject the "anarchist" formation of "disparate political parties" which are promising to come together to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the next general elections.

He said the political agenda for the debate this year appropriately will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi versus an "anarchist combination" of such parties.

"A group of disparate political parties are promising to come together. Some of their leaders are temperamental, the others occasionally change ideological positions. With many of them, such as TMC, DMK, TDP, BSP and the JD(S), the BJP has had an opportunity to share power. They frequently change political positions," Jaitley wrote in a Facebook post.

Aspirational societies with vibrant democracies do not invite anarchy, the minister said, adding that a strong nation and the requirements of good governance abhor anarchy.

Several opposition parties including the Congress are trying to forge an alliance to take on the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Prime Minister Modi has given 'scam-free' government and his fifth year will focus on consolidation of policies and programmes, he wrote.

Jaitley, who had a renal transplant earlier this month and has yesterday been shifted out of ICU, said the country's mood has transformed from despair to hope and aspirations in last four years.

"Good governance and good economics have been blended with good politics. The result of this has been that the BJP is more confident, its geographical base has become much bigger, its social base has expanded and its winnability has hugely increased," he said.

Attacking Congress, Jaitley said the party "is in desperation without the perks of office".

"From the dominant party of Indian politics, it is moving towards the 'fringe', its political positions are not of a mainstream party but one usually adopted by 'fringe' organisations. Fringe organisations can never hope to come in power," the minister's Facebook post noted.

"Its best hope lies in becoming a supporter of regional political parties. State level regional political parties have realised that the marginalised Congress can at best be either a junior partner or a marginal supporter," he said.

In an example of communal harmony and brotherhood, the Hindu and Muslim communities in Faizabad's Dehriyawan village, have been living together peacefully for 40 years here.

"We have a mutual understanding amongst ourselves to not interfere during each other's prayer time. Our namaz time is fixed and our Hindu friends never disturb us. You cannot find a village as peaceful as ours," a local, Haji Mohammad Wasim told ANI.

The village located at Ganga Jamuna Tahajib under Bikapur Tehsil has a temple and a mosque, adjacent to each other where both communities pray peacefully without being disturbed by the other.

Even in 1992, when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya, no riot broke out among people here.

The Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute is a century-old point of a tussle between Hindus and Muslims.

The mosque was demolished by Hindu Karsevaks on December 6, 1992, in Ayodhya. Following which the country witnessed massive riots that claimed lives of over 2,000 people.

"Hindus and Muslims have always peacefully coexisted here. Even when the Babri Masjid incident took place there was no riot here" said a resident, Gaya Pati.

"There is no conflict between the two communities here. We respect each other's prayer practices," said another.

Karan Johar celebrates his birthday in New York, reveals 'will direct a film around mid-next year'

According to reports, all five accused in the 2013 Bodh Gaya bombings were found guilty by a special Patna court on Friday. The accused belonged to the terror group Indian Mujahideen.

The convicts will be sentenced at the next hearing which is scheduled for May 31.

Maha Bodhi temple, situated in the holy city of Bodh Gaya, was jolted by a series of bomb blasts on July 7, 2013. Five people, including two Buddhist monks, were injured in the incident.

Heat wave condition is likely to prevail in Gujarat for the next couple of days as there are no chances of rain, according to the India Meteorological&nbsp;Department (IMD).

"We have given heatwave alert for Gujarat for today. Many places have seen the temperature above 44 degree Celsius in Gujarat," IMD Gujarat Director Jayant Sarkar said.

When the government announced a surprise $32 billion bailout plan for the nation's state-controlled banks last October, credit rating firms and the nation's central bank saw it as a huge step to getting the industry back to robust health – and lending more to&nbsp;businesses and consumers.

But their optimism may have been majorly misplaced judging by the latest numbers coming out of the banks. And that may, in turn, crimp economic growth in Asia's third-largest economy.

Thirteen state banks have reported combined losses of $8.6 billion for the year to March - including $6.5 billion in the last quarter - and their non-performing loans have surged nearly a fifth from end-December levels. Two state banks have reported modest profits and six are still to report.

While many of the banks, including top lender State Bank of India, have said the worst is probably over, they still see one or two more quarters of pain. That means more bad loans getting disclosed and loss provisions shooting up as a central bank order will cause more debt defaulters to be dragged into bankruptcy.

"The government capital is only going to just plug the hole, there is definitely no growth capital," said Udit Kariwala, an analyst at Fitch Ratings' India Ratings & Research. He said smaller state lenders with limited ability to raise capital from the market will have to curtail their lending.

The 21 state lenders hold two-thirds of India's banking assets and accounted for the bulk of the record $150 billion of soured loans in the banking sector last year.

The banks, which have been blamed for indiscriminate lending to sectors such as metals and power that turned sour, can still be held responsible for much of the balance sheet carnage.

A more than $2 billion fraud at India's second-biggest state lender, Punjab National Bank, disclosed less than four months ago, not only left a hole but also underlined how weak the banks' grip on risk is.

Exacerbating the problems is a move in February by the Reserve Bank of India, the nation's central bank, to withdraw half a dozen loan restructuring schemes that banking experts said were helping banks to avoid disclosing dud loans. It also tightened other rules governing bad loan accounting.

In addition, the RBI this month banned Dena Bank, a loss-making smaller state-run lender, from making any new loans. Days later, Allahabad Bank, another smaller state-run lender, said it had been asked by the regulator not to increase the number of risky loans and costly deposits on its books due to its capital and leverage position

Bank analysts say more state banks could come under similar restrictions aimed at conserving limited capital. The RBI already has 11 state lenders under its "prompt corrective action" framework that restricts them from expanding.

That is not all. Capital needs will also be exposed by global banking rules fully kicking in by March 2019. They mandate banks to have a minimum core capital ratio of 8 percent, and at least six banks, including PNB, are short of that number.

Under New Delhi's recapitalisation plan - aimed mainly at driving credit growth in an economy where bank loans are the main source of funding for everything from buying a car to building a port - the government has already injected about 880 billion rupees ($13 billion) into 20 banks as of end-March.

It has 650 billion rupees to inject in the current fiscal year, and the banks themselves were supposed to raise 580 billion rupees through share and asset sales.

Some, including SBI and PNB, last year raised funds from share sales, but several others have postponed such plans.

Kariwala at India Ratings estimates the banks now need 800 billion to 1 trillion rupees to fund soured-asset provisions and maintain minimum capital ratios alone, which means there will be little left from the bailout for lending growth.

Some bank analysts say the government may have to increase the size of the bailout.

Certainly, bank lending - and its impact on growth - will be on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's agenda ahead of a general election that has to be held within a year.

"Given how the stocks are doing, the nearly 0.6 trillion rupees banks need to raise looks difficult. So, the government may have to slightly increase the amount they are planning to inject," said Srikanth Vadlamani, vice president of the Financial Institutions Group at Moody's Investors Service.

Moody's said this week that PNB alone would need 120-130 billion rupees of new capital in the year to March to achieve an 8 percent core capital ratio. At the end of the last quarter, it was at just 5.95 percent.

Businesses, especially the smaller ones, are already complaining about not getting the loans they want.

In February to March, lending to small&nbsp;businesses dropped 0.2 percent, though overall lending grew 5.9 percent.

For importers, a major channel of funding - overseas credit through letters of undertakings from Indian banks - has been shut after the PNB fraud, forcing those&nbsp;businesses to depend more on domestic rupee loans.

The Indian government will ensure that all state banks including the weaker ones meet the minimum regulatory capital ratio, said Rajeev Kumar, the top bureaucrat overseeing the banking sector at the finance ministry.

He also said with the planned recapitalisation some of the banks will have room to grow, while bad loan recoveries in the bankruptcy process will further aid banks' bottom lines, He said he expects the banks' woes to subside in a quarter or two.

"Whenever you do the cleaning part, a bit of dust, a bit of pain, upfront is okay," said Kumar. "It's only one quarter that you have to just wait."

Tourism in Kerala is bearing the brunt of the sudden occurrence of&nbsp;Nipah virus&nbsp;in a section of the state. However, locals and tourists believe that the situation has been falsely portrayed by the media.

News of the presence of the virus was first reported from Kozhikode earlier this week, and now, at least 12 deaths have been confirmed to have taken place due to the "rare and deadly" virus. As the death toll is rising each day, a wave of panic has gripped the state, since the infection spreads through human contact.

However, locals in Kochi believe that unnecessary panic has been spread through various sections of the media, which in turn, is disrupting tourism to the region.

"In Northern India, it is the holiday season now, due to which we get many tourists from there. However, the news of the Nipah virus has led to almost 50 to 60 per cent cancellation of bookings. We are also getting inquiries from Gulf countries, as the Arab holiday season is approaching. It has created unnecessary panic," Tourism Profession Club Secretary Paul said.

Echoing a similar thought, Ajay Kumar, a local tourist guide said the false portrayal of the situation is hampering his business.

"In Kochi, there is no need to panic as the area is safe from the virus. It (Nipah) is only in a small section of Kozhikode. However, media is portraying it in such a way that tourists believe the whole of Kerala is affected by the disease. I have lost business due to this, as travellers are cancelling trips booked even for the next month," he added.

However, tourists in the area, although unfazed by the virus, are taking a number of precautionary measures in the wake of the disease.

"We are trying to eat home cooked food for our own safety. We are avoiding excessive amounts of hotel food and fruits for now. We are also planning to avoid visiting Kozhikode at this time," a tourist said.

So far, the virus has claimed 12 lives in Kerala, following which the state's health department issued an advisory for people travelling to the state, and urged travellers to be extra cautious while visiting Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur districts.

A similar note of caution has also been issued by the Himachal Pradesh health ministry on Thursday after more than 18 dead bats were discovered on Wednesday in the premises of a government school in Nahan, triggering a panic among locals.

For those unversed,&nbsp;Nipah virus, spread by fruit bats, causes communicable disease and is fatal for both animals and humans.

The symptoms of the disease include fever, headache, drowsiness, respiratory illness, disorientation and mental confusion.

According to the advisory, consumers of fruits that are bitten by bats, farmers who come in contact with bats, people consuming and working with pigs and people who are in contact with people affected by the virus, are at high risk of getting affected.

Hence preventions like avoiding contact with pigs and pig handlers, maintaining personal hygiene, avoiding consumption of raw fruits, should be taken.

It also said that sudden onset of fever, headache, muscle pain and vomiting are the early symptoms of the virus.

The advisory further stated, supportive and symptomatic care is the key to the treatment as there is no approved specific therapy for this, adding that infected patients may require intensive care monitoring in isolation.

On that note, more than 18 dead bats were discovered on Wednesday in the premises of a government school in&nbsp;Nahan, triggering a panic among locals.

State Health Minister Vipin S Parmar, speaking on the same, said, "Chief Medical Officers and the task force of the health department are alert and prepared. Samples of bats that were found dead in Nahan have been sent for tests. The report will be out soon."

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, MoS for Health, also said, "Samples of dead bats have been sent for testing to ascertain the reason behind their deaths. Without laboratory reports, it cannot be said that these bats have been killed by Nipah&nbsp;virus."

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also issued an advisory on Thursday for the general public and healthcare personnel on how to take preventive measures in high-risk areas and how the Nipah virus spreads and what are its symptoms.

The ministry advised the public to avoid consuming raw date palm sap or toddy, half-eaten fruits from the ground and refrain from entering into abandoned wells and eat only washed fruits.

It informed that handling of bodies of those who died due to the disease should be done in accordance with the government advisory and that during this emotional moment traditional rituals and practices may need to be modified to prevent the exposure of family members to the disease.

In Kerala, about 160 samples have been sent for testing at the virology institute and 13 cases have been found to be positive. Of the 13 confirmed cases, 11 people have died so far.

Kerala government also issued an advisory, asking travellers to avoid visiting the four districts of Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur.

"Travelling to any part of Kerala is safe. However, if travellers wish to be extra cautious, they may avoid the four districts," Health Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan said.

The government has also called for an all-party meeting at Kozhikode today to discuss the issue.

Most of the deaths reported are from Kozhikode and Malappuram districts from where 11 deaths have now been reported and 18 are undergoing treatment in various hospitals, including one in Wayanad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jharkhand today and lay the foundation of development projects worth Rs 27 thousand crores. PM Modi, along with Jharkhand's Chief Minister Raghubar Das, will lay the foundation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Deoghar.&nbsp;

Other projects that will be kicked off by PM Modi would include the development of Deoghar airport, gas pipeline development at Deoghar AIIMS and in Ranchi among other projects.

According to reports, around Rs, 1103 crore has been allocated for the development of Deoghar AIIMS. Rs 441 crores has been allotted for Deoghar airport. Sindri workshop will be reopened at the expense of Rs 7,000 crores while Rs 11,668 crore will be spent for the setting up of an NTPC plant in Patratu.&nbsp;

PM Modi will travel to Sindri from Dhanbad at around 3.30pm on Friday. After unveiling the details of the development project, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting with state officials and Jharkhand CM in the evening.&nbsp;

The Prime Minister&nbsp;will also visit West Bengal today.&nbsp;

Karnataka's newly sworn-in Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday expressed confidence of an absolute victory during today's floor test. "I have no tension, I am going to win clearly," a confident Kumaraswamy told reports ahead of the floor test.&nbsp;

Kumaraswamy will aim to prove his majority putting an end to the political turmoil prevailing in Karnataka over the government formation.&nbsp;

Karnataka's recently concluded state assembly election witnessed the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats (only eight seats short of the simple majority mark of 112). The Congress secured 78 seats and the JD(S) 37 seats. JD(S) and Congress, along with the support of two independent candidates, stitched up a post-poll alliance with a total of 117 MLAs.

Even though the Karnataka Governor invited the BJP to form the government with a time period of 15 days to prove their majority on the floor of the house, the Supreme Court in an interim order directed the floor test to be held in just two days, even after Yeddyurappa had taken oath as the Chief Minister of the state.

Although BJP's Yeddyurappa was sworn-in as Karnataka's Chief Minister, he was unable to garner the required number of votes to form Government in the state and resigned before the top court-ordered floor test.

HD Kumaraswamy was sworn-in as the 24th chief minister of Karnataka on May 23, marking the beginning of the JD(S)-Congress alliance in the state.

In his speech, he said Telugu Desam Party government was the one who met Bill Gates several times and brought Microsoft to the city. Taking a jibe at PM Modi he said, "Money for bullet train is being given to Mumbai, Delhi but not Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. I supported demonetisation but today we are not able to find money in ATM`s and not able to spend our own money."

Slamming the BJP at the Centre, he said, "I was the only person to raise my voice in parliament in the matter of triple talaq. We waited for four years and waited but we didn`t get any support from them, that is the reason I came out from NDA and passed no-confidence motion for the first."Evoking the BJP`s defeat in the Karnataka polls, he said, "

The same what had happened in Karnataka elections will be repeated even here in Telangana."He further said that all the state parties are bonding together for the development of the country."We will even take care of the state public along. We all will work together" he said.
