<p>"We would like to inform our loyal and precious supporters that due to some reason the event `Dabangg - The Tour Nepal` has been postponed until further notice. We will inform everyone as soon as the dates are confirmed. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience" read a Facebook post from the event`s organiser ODC Entertainment.</p>

<p>The event at Tundikhel, near the Army Headquarters, was earlier scheduled for March 10. However, it later got postponed to April 26.</p>

<p>Besides Salman, the event was also expected to be graced by Sonakshi Sinha, Prabhudheva, Meet Bros, Daisy Shah, Kriti Sanon and Manish Paul.</p>

<p>Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday won the trust vote in the Karnataka assembly shortly after he moved the moved the motion of confidence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>117 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) voted in his favour enabling the JD(S)-Congress alliance to cross the simple majority mark of 112 seats.</p>

<p>Moving the trust vote, he&nbsp;thanked Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun M Kharge, who he said&nbsp;were the first to call him to join hands. He also said his father, former PM H D Deve Gowda, had said if I&nbsp;joined hands with the BJP, the entire family would disown him.</p>

<p>The BJP walked out of the Karnataka assembly ahead of the floor test after its leader BS Yeddyurappa said that the party will hold a state-wide bandh on May 28, if CM Kumaraswamy doesn’t waive off farmer loans.</p>

<p>In the recently concluded state assembly election, though the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats (only eight seats short of the simple majority mark of 112), the Congress party with 78 seats and JD(S) with 37 seats, along with two independent candidates, stitched up a post-poll alliance which has a total of 117 MLAs.</p>

<p>Even though the Karnataka Governor invited the BJP to form the government with a time period of 15 days to prove their majority on the floor of the house, the Supreme Court in an interim order directed the floor test to be held in just two days, even after Yeddyurappa had taken oath as the Chief Minister of the state.</p>

<p>What followed post the game-changing Karnata Polls verdict was the shifting of MLAs from one resort to another in order to prevent horse-trading.</p>

<p>However, unable to garner the required number of votes to form Government in the state, Yeddyurappa resigned as the Chief Minister prior to the top court-ordered floor test, but accused the Congress of hijacking the `People`s Mandate`.</p>

<p>On May 23,&nbsp;Kumaraswamy was sworn-in as the 24th chief minister of Karnataka, marking the beginning of the JD(S)-Congress alliance in the state.</p>

<p>Unhappy with the sequence of events, the BJP observed the day as `Anti-People`s Mandate Day` in the state on the same date.</p>

<p>Confident of his win in the floor test, HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday informed that he has called for a meeting of the Finance Ministry official after the floor test in the state assembly, to take a decision on the state budget.</p>

<p>In a press briefing, the chief minister said he will fulfil all the promises made by the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD-S) in their manifesto.</p>

<p><strong>New Speaker</strong></p>

<p>Earlier, Congress MLA&nbsp;K R Ramesh Kumar was unanimously elected the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, after BJP candidate S Suresh Kumar pulled out of the race, in a major victory for the JD(S)-Congress coalition before Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy faced the floor test.</p>

<p>Shortly before the start of the proceedings, Suresh Kumar said he was withdrawing his nomination following a direction from the BJP leadership.</p>

<p>"On the directions of our party, I had filed the nomination for the post of Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Now, after discussion in the party, it is felt that the Speaker has to be elected unanimously following the parliamentary traditions. I'm withdrawing my nomination," Suresh Kumar tweeted.</p>

<p>Suresh Kumar, a 5th term MLA from the city, had filed his papers yesterday, in an apparent indication by the BJP that it wanted to give the JD(S)-Congress coalition a run for its money in the race for speakership before Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy faced the floor test.</p>

<p>As the House met and pro-tem speaker K G Bopaiah took up the matter, BJP's Sunil Kumar stood up and said he was not moving the motion proposing Suresh Kumar for the Speaker's post. Suresh Kumar then said, "I accept it."</p>

<p>Ramesh Kumar's name was then proposed by the former chief minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara.</p>

<p>The motion was unanimously adopted by the House.</p>

<p>Ahead of the floor test in Karnataka on Friday the&nbsp;MLAs of the Bhartiya Janata Party walked out of the assembly showing their&nbsp;discontent with the party in power.</p>

<p>The MLAs moved out of the assembly&nbsp;to press the government to waive off the farmer's loan.</p>

<p>The former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa also said that the party will hold a statewide bandh on May 28, if CM Kumaraswamy does not respond to their demands.</p>

<p>BJP leader R Ashoka said, " We walked out on the issue of farmers' loan waivers. We will hold state-wide bandh on May 28. We will be aggressive now."</p>

<p>Congress leader DK Shivkumar hit out at the BJP for walking out of the assembly. He said that were a responsible government and cannot act to the wishes of the BJP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said, " They cannot waste public money, if a law and order problem is created it'll be because of them. They cannot force and blackmail us, we are a responsible government and cannot act to wishes of BJP".</p>

<p>The Congress led by chief minister HD Kumaraswamy won the vote of confidence in the Karnataka assembly on Friday.</p>

<p>The Indian Army on Friday ordered a court of inquiry against Major Nitin Leetul Gogoi who was briefly detained by police in Srinagar after an altercation when he was allegedly trying to enter a hotel with an 18-year-old woman.</p>

<p>The Jammu and Kashmir Police has initiated an inquiry into the incident involving Gogoi, who found himself at the centre of a storm last year following his decision to tie a civilian to the bonnet of his vehicle in Kashmir.<br />

<p>In a fresh source of embarrassment for Pakistan, twenty-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Zaibullah alias Hamza has told India's national investigation agency (NIA) that Pakistan is not just sending terror agents into the country but also smuggling arms.</p>

<p>Zaibullah's disclosure is significant as security forces admit that no terrorist has been caught without a weapon in an encounter.</p>

<p>According to the information provided by the LeT operative, for every two infiltrations, there is one arms consignment stocked in safe areas. Such cargos are dumped in areas demarcated by the LeT.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further informed that the terrorists can take weapons including pistols, AK-47s, grenade launchers among other arms from the safe areas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was earlier believed that the terrorists relied on stealing weapons during the encounters. Zaibullah also noted that at a time, one arms package contains 6-7 weapons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Zaibullah was arrested on April 6 this year after India's security agencies acted on a tip-off. He had earlier escaped an encounter in March.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Pakistan's army is rewarded for every kill. &nbsp;LeT's Falahai-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) carries banners reading "Burmese and Kashmiri Muslims must join the FIF". These are put outside mosques. The FIF is funded by many events in Pakistan, they are funded by the Saudis too. These funds are collected for the Mujahideens at the Muzaffarabad camps," Zaibullah informed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>PLA's Defence Engineering Research Insitute has developed these special fortifications which have four major categories: a) Observation centre, b) Shooting Command centre, c) Personnel sheltering, and d) Equipment sheltering.</p>

Trump has taken aim at India's small trade surplus with the US, he has cracked down on immigration and H-1b visas which has hit Indians, new sanctions on Iran will force up oil prices and complicate India's position. &nbsp</p>

<p>Trump has been harder on Pakistan for its support of terrorism but there is no sign that he's willing to hit them where it hurts the most. Pakistan continues to back terror groups in India and is seen to be working alongside China to undermine India in the region. &nbspDebt-laden Sri Lanka is beholden to China, so is the Maldives, so could Nepal and Bangladesh in a few years from now.</p>

<p>How Delhi manages the contradictions of being the big guy in the region without being seen as big brother is a challenge. &nbspYet there's no doubt Modi has single-mindedly moved to heighten India's profile in the world. &nbspIndia is seen and noticed but minus economic heft, will not get a seat at the high table.&nbsp</p>

<p>Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said on Wednesday that Goods and Service Tax (GST) and demonetisation were "revolutionary steps" taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards making the nation corruption free.</p>

<p>Praising Prime Minister Modi for introducing various central schemes for the development of the country, the Vice President said, "With the introduction of GST and demonetisation, the Prime Minister took revolutionary steps. The GST revenue in April has crossed Rs 1.4 lakh crore, indicating high hopes for the new tax regime."</p>

<p>Vice President Naidu was speaking at the 11th convocation ceremony of the Tripura University.</p>

<p>In his speech, he also emphasised on the role of the present Union government towards the infrastructural development in the northeastern states for better connectivity and business in the region and the neighbouring nations.</p>

<p>The 11th convocation of the Tripura University was held after five years. As many as 142 scholars rePhDd PhD&nbsp;degrees and about 400 students from many streams received gold and silver medals.</p>

<p>Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Vice-Chancellor Anjan Kumar Ghosh, Registrar Santi Deb Roy and other dignitaries were present in the Maharaja BB auditorium for the convocation.</p>

<p>The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, heads of State and Central Intelligence Agencies, GOC XV Corps, GOC Victor Force, Senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces, Inspector General of Police Kashmir CEO and Additional CEO of the Shrine Board.</p>

<p>S.P. Pani, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir and Major General J.P. Mathew, GOC, Victor Force, gave a detailed briefing regarding the security environment in the state, while the Governor, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, highlighted the need for all concerned agencies to keep a close watch and maintain effective coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Yatra.</p>

<p>The meeting held extensive discussions related to the preparations for meeting unforeseen situations functioning of the Joint Control Rooms (JCRs) at every Yatra Camp deployment of NDRF, SDRF and Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) of the State Police along with Rescue Teams of various Security Forces at identified locations on both Yatra routes deployment of well equipped Fire Fighting units at pre-determined points installation of X-Ray Baggage Scanning Units, etc.</p>

<p>The Governor also directed officials to ensure widespread publicity of advisories related to safety and security of Yatris, including the cut-off timings, through print and electronic media and to display the same at various public places.</p>

<p>He further directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the roads from Jammu to Srinagar, Srinagar to Baltal, and Anantnag to Pahalgam are maintained in satisfactory condition for the smooth movement of the pilgrimage.<br />
The enforcement of regulatory mechanisms like allowing only those pilgrims who possess a valid Yatra Permit to undertake the Yatra on a given day was also stressed upon.</p>

<p>The Shrine Board has also made a provision for an Insurance Cover for all service providers, like pony wallas, labourers, palki wallas, tent and shop owners, who play a very important role in the smooth conduct of the Yatra.</p>

J&K Governor discusses key security issues ahead of Amarnath Yatra

On the various Unicef Field Visits I have taken, I am always surprised by the simple yet effective solutions that @unicef and their partners develop to deal with the most dire and pressing situations and issues. More than 60,000 babies have been born in the camps over the past 8 months, so this center is an essential resource for new mothers to learn about proper feeding and nutrition. It all begins with the MUAC, a process where the child’s middle upper arm is measured to ascertain their nutrition level. From there, aids create a program for the child and a nutrient rich, ready-to-eat peanut paste is portioned out for each child based on the severity of malnutrition. These camps are loud & crowded, actually overcrowded, and so to find a quiet oasis, in this case a small hut with a tarp roof and thatched bamboo walls, is surprising. But for the girls in this camp, this is what they call their “house of peace.” It’s a place they can come and just be. A place to interact with friends, seek counselling, learn about hygiene, or learn life skills like art and music. There are approx 50 Women Friendly Spaces in the camps, just like this one, that on any given day see 50-70 Rohingya girls seeking these safe havens. The centers open at 9am, but there is seldom a day when the women aren’t lined up early, waiting for the doors to open. It is here that I met three 18 year old young women, in particular, who’s stories really shook me - their names have been omitted to protect their identities. They recounted lives of pain and suffering so horrifying...it’s difficult to fathom. One scarred with memories of houses in her village being burned - she and her parents traveled for two days to get here, passing hundreds of decapitated and dismembered bodies along the way. Another shared stories of young girls being pulled from their homes to be raped and tortured. They even tried to kill her and cut her with a knife, but she fought back. How did you manage to be so brave, I asked her...she replied, “If you’re born you will die, so I’m not scared of dying today.” In what world is it normal for an 18 year old girl to have this perspective on life?! The third young woman traveled for nearly two weeks on foot through the forest, where her youngest brother died along the way. There was lots of rape and torture back home she told me, and some women’s breasts were even cut off. While their lives are safer now, they are all still struggling. They know that with an education they can get a job and create better lives for their family, like buying protein for their meals, and clean drinking water. It’s literally as basic as that. Today, his drawings reflect a more hopeful story, one we would like all these children to have. Since the #Rohingya children have arrived in Cox’s Bazar, they have been living in overcrowded camps with no real place that to call their own. Imagine a space that lets you forget your troubles and be a child again... even if its only for just a few hours a day. For the Rohingya children, over 300,000, in the camps in Bangladesh this is the only space that allows them to be kids. Many of them made their journey on foot, walking for days through the hills, then floating across the Naf River or the Bay of Bengal on make shift boats...many of them injured, pregnant, elderly, etc. Their ordeal didn’t end here...after entering Bangladesh, they would often have to wait for days, sleeping in the open fields with no food or water, for aid workers to reach them. For a lot of the Rohingya children, this ordeal will leave them scarred, physically and emotionally, for the rest of their lives. Priyanka Chopra is on a field visit to refugee camps in Dhaka, Bangladesh as UNICEF brand ambassador

Priyanka Chopra never fails to make a statement -- be it in her personal choices or professional commitments. As a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights, the globetrotter is currently in Dhaka, Bangladesh spreading warmth among the displaced kids and their families as is visible in pictures shared by her on her Instagram page. Dressed modestly with a headcover in most photos, Priyanka feeds nutrient-rich UNICEF provided food supplement to malnourished Rohingya refugee kids as their mothers and other UNICEF volunteers look on. In others, she engages with the kids as she plays with them. Priyanka had earlier posted about the start of the Bangladesh journey as she insisted that world deals with empathy and wrote: “Follow my Instagram to share my experiences as I visit the Rohingya refugee camps on this Unicef field visit. <p>Amidst the news of the&nbsp;Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, more than 18 dead bats were discovered on Wednesday in the premises of a government school in Himachal Pradesh's Nahan, triggering a panic among locals.</p>

<p>Officers of the Health Department, Animal Husbandry Department and Forest Department arrived at the Burma Papadi School, following a directive from the Deputy Commissioner, and took samples from the dead bats for further investigation.</p>

<p>However, the officials denied rumours of fears of the virus as of now.</p>

<p>The district's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Sanjay Sharma, although the bats are present in the area every year, this year their numbers are significantly higher.</p>

<p>"The principal of the school and the students said that bats come here every year, and eventually perish, however, this year, their numbers are far greater than in previous years," Sharma said.</p>

<p>"We have informed the teachers, students of the school about the virus, its symptoms, preventive measures. We told them to avoid physical contact in case of an outbreak, as this is a communicative disease," he added.</p>

<p>Suparna Bharadwaj, the principal of the school, said, "In this situation, there is a panic in the people after this episode, as the way the bats are dying, Napa Virus's fears cannot be sidelined. The students were informed of the disease, it's preventive measures, so we will exercise all precautions in case of an outbreak and inform as many people as possible."</p>

<p>The death toll in the deadly Nipah virus outbreak has so far, risen up to 10, Kerala health minister KK Shailaga confirmed.</p>

<p>Earlier, Kerala Governor P Sathasivam appealed to the people of the state to not to panic over the rumours being circulated about the spread of the virus and requested everyone to follow the advisories issued by the State Health Department.</p>

<p>Also, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the state government is closely monitoring the outbreak and taking steps to prevent its further spread.</p>

<p>Taking cognizance of the issue, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda also directed to constitute a team of six doctors to probe the outbreak of the virus.&nbsp;</p>
