#WATCH | Ghazipur, UP: People in huge numbers gathered outside the Mohammadabad residence of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who died of cardiac arrest on Thursday night at Banda Medical College.
Mukhtar’s post-mortem earlier confirmed that he died of cardiac arrest. His mortal remains were handed over to his younger son, Umar Ansari, who was present at the Rani Durgavati hospital.
It is to be noted that a magisterial inquiry has been launched into the death of Mukhtar Ansari following allegations of ‘slow poisoning’ by his family members and opposition parties.
Ansari's family has alleged that now-dead gangster was subjected to "slow poisoning" while he was in jail. His family claimed that they were not informed about Ansari's death by the authorities and learned about it through the media.
Ansari's life was marred by controversies and legal battles. In April 2023, he was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. Earlier this month, he received a life sentence for his involvement in obtaining an arms license using forged documents.
