Anushka Sharma is PETA's 'Person of the Year'

Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma is making headlines all over.

The Jab Harry Met Sejal actress recently tied the knot with Indian skipper Virat Kohli and hosted a grand reception at Mumbai's St Regis Hotel yesterday.

Anushka Sharma has now been named as the 'PETA 2017 Person of the Year'. 

The Sultan star had featured previously in PETA's list of 'Hottest Vegetarians' along with Bollywood celebrities like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. 

"Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights proponent whose kindness and initiative know no bounds," PETA's Associate Director, Sachin Bangera, said in a statement today.

The actor has also taken to Twitter to demand a ban on cruel carriage rides in Mumbai, PETA noted. 

PETA's Person of the Year Award was previously awarded to eminent personalities like Dr Shashi Tharoor, former Supreme Court Judge K S Radhakrishnan Panicker and actors Hema Malini, R Madhavan, and Jacqueline Fernandez among others.

National Award Winner Rajkumar Rao and Highway star Alia Bhatt were named as the 'Hottest Vegetarians' of the year. 

"Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao are fit, hot, and compassionate, and they're setting a great example for their fans and millions of other people who want to fight climate change with their forks," said Sachin Bangera, PETA's Associate Director of celebrity and public relations.

Microblogging giant, Twitter recently declared Anushka Sharma's wedding post as the 'Golden tweet of the year' with the maximum number of reposts.
