The Champions League semifinal first leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich lived up to the occasion on Tuesday (April 30) as both teams served a treat to the fans with an entreating 2-2 draw. The result means the second leg in Madrid will be a direct shootout on who goes to Wembley to play in the final.Withbigand young stars on offer,it wasthe veteran Toni Krooswhostole the show with a beautiful assist in the 23rd minute for the opening goal.

Kroos delivers perfectpass

With the game goalless until the 23rd minute,it wasthe Toni Kroos passthatunlocked the Bayern defence spearheaded by Eric Dier and Kim Min-jae.Bisecting the two central defenders, the German international picked a swift pass that was taken by Vinicius Jr to finishfirsttime.Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was left helpless as he failed to prevent the Brazilian Vinicius from scoring.Thiswas Vinicius’ fifth goal in the Champions League and 21st overall.

The 1-0 leadthoughwas not enough as Bayern turned the game on its head with a second-half comeback. In the 53rd minute, Leroy Sane scored yet another beauty on the night to level the match. It was his first goal since October, relieving pressure on him.

Soon the score was 2-1 in Bayern’s favour after the hosts were awarded a penalty in the 57th minute. Harry Kane stepped up with a cool head to dispatch the spot kick to help the home side raise the roof. However,justwhen Bayern were looking good, Real Madrid had a penalty of their own in the 83rd minute.

Vinicius was the man again from the spot kick as he converted to earn the visitors a 2-2 draw. With no away goals rule existing, Real Madrid will have no advantage of the previous rule and will have to win on home turf to play in the final on May 26 in London’s Wembley Stadium.
