Human muscle has an innate ability to ward off the damaging effects of chronic inflammation when exercised, a new study suggests.

The study, published in the journal Science Advances, indicates that inflammation is not inherently good or bad. When the body is injured, an initial low-level inflammation response clears away debris and helps tissue rebuild.

"Our engineered muscle platform is modular, meaning we can mix and match various types of cells and tissue components if we want to. But in this case, we discovered that the muscle cells were capable of taking anti-inflammatory actions all on their own," said researcher Nenad Bursac, Professor at Duke University.

Among many molecules that can cause inflammation, one pro-inflammatory molecule in particular, interferon-gamma, has been associated with various types of muscle wasting and dysfunction.

While previous research in humans and animals has shown that exercise can help mitigate the effects of inflammation in general, it has been difficult to distinguish what role the muscle cells themselves might play, let alone how they interact with specific offending molecules, such as interferon-gamma.

To prove that muscle alone is capable of blocking interferon gamma`s destructive powers, the team turned to an engineered muscle platform that the laboratory has been developing for nearly a decade.

They were first to grow to contract, functional human skeletal muscle in a Petri dish, and since then the lab has been improving its processes by, for example, adding immune cells and reservoirs of stem cells to the recipe.

In the current study, the researchers took these fully functional, lab-grown muscles and inundated them with relatively high levels of interferon-gamma for seven days to mimic the effects of a long-lasting chronic inflammation. As expected, the muscle got smaller and lost much of its strength.

The researchers then applied interferon-gamma again, but this time also put the muscle through a simulated exercise regime by stimulating it with a pair of electrodes.

While they expected the procedure to induce some muscle growth, as shown in their previous studies, they were surprised to discover that it almost completely prevented the effects of the chronic inflammation.

Eva Mendes has opened up about her time off social media.

The 46-year-old actress and businesswoman revealed why she had been silent on social media. Mendes explained on Saturday that one of her two daughters, whom she shares with Ryan Gosling, told her that she was spending too much time on her phone.

"I haven’t posted lately because my little one told me I was on the phone too much," Mendes admitted. "I could tell she was taking it personally. And she’s a kid, of course she’d take it personally."

"They take things personally unless we go out of our way to make it clear to them it’s not personal," she continued, adding that they "had good talk, I apologized and I promised her I’d be mindful. I realized that just because I’m always home with them doesn’t mean I’m always present. ❤️."
Mendes' post also included a quote from the Latinx Parenting account, which reads in part, "Let your kids call you out. It's not disrespect. It's healthy."
Mendes explained on Saturday that one of her two daughters, whom she shares with Ryan Gosling, told her that she was spending too much time on her phone. "I haven’t posted lately because my little one told me I was on the phone too much," Mendes admitted. "I could tell she was taking it personally. And she’s a kid, of course she’d take it personally." "They take things personally unless we go out of our way to make it clear to them it’s not personal," she continued, adding that they "had good talk, I apologized and I promised her I’d be mindful. I realized that just because I’m always home with them doesn’t mean I’m always present. ❤️." Mendes' post also included a quote from the Latinx Parenting account, which reads in part, "Let your kids call you out. It's not disrespect. It's healthy."
Capitol hill riots shocked many around the globe and recently Prine Harry opened about the riots and blamed social media for spreading misinformation which he feels was a key element of the riots planning.

The former senior royal said in a rare interview with Fast Company, the digital landscape needs to change.

"We have seen time and again what happens when the real-world cost of misinformation is disregarded. There is no way to downplay this," he said. "There was a literal attack on democracy in the United States, organised on social media, which is an issue of violent extremism."

Harry added that we should "avoid buying into the idea that social media is the ultimate modern-day public square and that any attempt to ask platforms to be accountable to the landscape they've created is an attack or restriction of speech." "I think it's a false choice to say you have to pick between free speech or a more compassionate and trustworthy digital world. They are not mutually exclusive," he said.

"Dominant online platforms have contributed to and stoked the conditions for a crisis of hate, a crisis of health, and a crisis of truth," Harry says. "And I stand by that, along with millions of others who see and feel what this era has done at every level -- we are losing loved ones to conspiracy theories, losing a sense of self because of the barrage of mistruths, and at the largest scale, losing our democracies."

Model Hailey Bieber says she has healthier hair nowadays, and it is all due to the Covid pandemic. The 28-year-old confessed that the secret behind her healthy and shiny hair is taking vitamins intended for pregnant women

"My hair is so much healthier as a result of the pandemic. It`s because I`ve left it to its own devices and not dyed it in almost a year -- aside from touching up the front slightly -- but I really don`t care for highlights anymore," she said in an interview to SheerLuxe.com.

"Even so, I swear by prenatal supplements. I`ve gone through a lot of trial and error with supplements for healthy hair, but prenatal vitamins have been the most helpful. I can`t take biotin - if I do, I get really painful, deep breakouts. Most hair supplements marketed for growth don`t work for me, so I`ve been using prenatal vitamins for a while now as they give you essential nutrients, while keeping your skin and hair in great condition," added Hailey, who is married to pop star Justin Bieber.

Hailey also shared that she is mostly seen with a "slicked back" hairstyle because she uses hydrating oils and masks on her hair.

She said: "Day-to-day, slicked-back hair is my go-to style. Most of the time it`s because I have about four different oils or masks in there and I like to let it sit. I`ll apply loads -- castor oil, coconut oil and lovely nourishing formulas. I like to load my hair with hydrating products, put it up in a bun for two days and let everything absorb."

"I tried a plant-based diet for two months during the quarantine. I felt great and I had a lot of energy, but it was not for me. I don`t eat a strictly plant-based diet and I do still eat meat. I just don`t eat a lot of it. I`ve picked up more fish, greens, and lentils," she added.

Research led by psychology and neuroscience professor of the University of Montreal highlights that abnormally hyperactive areas in the brain may help better predict the onset of Alzheimer`s disease. In the study, the team led by Universite de Montreal psychology professor Sylvie Belleville found hyperactivation in certain brain areas in people not yet diagnosed with Alzheimer`s but who were worried about their memory and who exhibited risk factors for the disease.

The findings which were published in Alzheimer`s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring marks an important milestone in this research area, as the hyperactivation of regions susceptible to Alzheimer`s as shown by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), was observed in people with no clinical symptoms and before the onset of cognitive impairments detected with standardized tests. "This study indicates that abnormal activation in these areas may be observed many years before diagnosis," said Belleville.

Alzheimer`s disease is progressive and may emerge in the brain 20 to 30 years before diagnosis. It is therefore very important to pinpoint biomarkers -- that is, physical and detectable signs of the disease -- and to better understand the initial effects on the brain. Hyperactivation could therefore represent one of the first signs of Alzheimer`s disease, according to the researchers.
The team observed that, as the disease progresses, neuronal activation follows an inverse U-shape trajectory. Indeed, activation in certain areas of the brain in the early stages of Alzheimer`s may significantly increase before the neuronal loss that is caused by the disease leads to a clear decrease in inactivation."This form may characterize the underlying pathological process and help doctors determine the stage of the disease. Research led by psychology and neuroscience professor of the University of Montreal highlights that abnormally hyperactive areas in the brain may help better predict the onset of Alzheimer`s disease.

Strange hyperactivation in brain can be early sign of Alzheimer's

If you love having plants at home, then there is a good news for you as a new study suggests that plants at home can keep you mentally healthy.

The findings, published in the journal Urban Forestry and Urban Greening, indicated that having plants at home had a positive influence on the psychological well-being of the dwelling`s inhabitants during Covid-19 lockdown.

For the study, the researchers, including Katia Perini from the University of Genoa in Italy, evaluated the role played by the plants at home during the first Covid-19 lockdown and the study involved 4,200 respondents.

The situation between the months of March and June deprived the public of the chance to enjoy open spaces and nature, and forced them to spend extended periods of time indoors.

The team found 74 percent of the respondents agreed that having plants at home had a positive influence on emotional well-being during lockdown, the researchers said.

In fact, more than half of them (55.8 percent) stated that they would have preferred to have more plants in their house during that difficult period. The frequency with which study participants experienced negative emotions was higher in those who stated they had no indoor plants.

Those living in small or poorly lit dwellings and those who did not visit green spaces frequently before lockdown also experienced more negative emotions, it added.

Moreover, just over half of respondents (52 per cent) reported spending more time on plant care at home during lockdown and almost two thirds (62.5 per cent) expressed a desire to do so once normality was restored.

As a result, 40 percent of the participants indicated that they were motivated to have more plants at home in future, the researchers said.

Forget red and blue (states). The theme of the Biden inauguration was “America United,” and the colour of the day seemed to be purple — the shade that bridges the divide by bringing both colours together (not to mention one of the original signature colours of the suffragists, whose dreams are now being realized with the first female vice president).

“Purple is the colour of loyalty, constancy to purpose, unswerving steadfastness to a cause,” the National Woman’s Party wrote in a newsletter in 1913.

Though Jill Biden coordinated her blue Markarian coat with her husband’s blue Ralph Lauren tie, Vice President Kamala Harris served up a bipartisan message in a bright single-breasted coat and dress from Christopher John Rodgers, as did former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a grape Ralph Lauren pantsuit. And Michelle Obama, the former first lady, wore wine trousers with a coordinated turtleneck and long coat from Sergio Hudson, a young Black designer.

Masks were also part of the material culture of this inauguration. Jill Biden wore a sky blue mask that appeared custom-made to match her coat, and other members of her family chose a similar monochromatic theme. Harris opted for a shiny black number that complimented her purple outfit, one of her signature mask looks.

Many men opted for paper medical masks, but a few went for solid shades or face coverings that featured insignia. Former President George W. Bush sported a mask made by Rhoback, a company that was started by former Capitol Hill staffers.

Despite the very high fashion content of President Joe Biden’s swearing-in, which included Lady Gaga in a veritable ballgown from Schiaparelli, Ella Emhoff in a crystal-dusted tweed Miu Miu coat with a big white collar; and Jennifer Lopez in winter white Chanel, it was Sen. Bernie Sanders, not normally known for his style statements, whose choice of accessories may have had the widest effect. Specifically, Sanders’ woolly mittens, in a sort of brown and cream Himalayan sweater pattern, seemed to have charmed practically half the social media world, with commenters asking where they could buy a pair.

The mittens quickly got their own hashtag: #Berniesmittens. Even Vogue took note. Jen Ellis, a Vermont schoolteacher, claimed ownership in a tweet.

“I made Bernie’s mittens as a gift a couple of years ago,” she wrote, posting a photo of other similar creations. “They are made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece (made from recycled plastic bottles).”

In response a friend noted, “you better buy some titanium knitting-needles lol, you’ll need them, you just became the world’s most famous ‘mitten knitter’.” And thus the new administration appears to be keeping its vow to jump-start small businesses already.

Zee Theatre adds another modern classic to its treasure-trove of theatrical treats with director and writer Purva Naresh’s 'Ladies Sangeet. '

A poster announcing the teleplay that stars Joy Sengupta, Loveleen Mishra along with Nidhi Singh, Siddhant Karnick, Harsh Khurana, Sarika Singh, and Monica Gupta was launched today.

'Ladies Sangeet' tells the story of young Radha who is to wed her beau Siddharth at her ancestral home in the hinterlands while her enthusiastic family members and their wedding planner are trying to make the wedding resemble the ones in Bollywood! The play uses wit, humour, music, and drama to bring out extremely relevant challenges faced by families and individuals, especially against the backdrop of a big, fat wedding.

Purva Naresh shares, “The play tries to develop a discourse on what is feminine identity and how it is being manipulated through classical texts, through patriarchy, through cultural appropriation and the market. Female identity filtered through the male gaze, is the core of the play. A wedding seemed a perfect setting for this because the bride is the epitome of the feminine and the groom of the masculine. It's a wedding and the bride is getting freaked out. Not just the bride but the groom too is getting freaked out. And then it seems, everyone has a disquiet. As the household prepares for a boisterous sangeet, the disquiet seems to be spreading and growing. And through classical songs, folk songs, Bollywood music we begin to see glimpses of how conditioning works. How prevalent is the male gaze that even women embrace it gladly.”

Joy Sengupta who enacts a pivotal character in the teleplay, says, “I play the complex character of a slightly harrowed father whose truth is revealed only in the second half when the audience learns why he has a problematic relationship with his wife. The tension then builds up to a very cathartic scene where all of his insecurities and secrets tumble out. It is then that viewers gauge the extent of his misery within the institution of marriage and start questioning the gender roles in marital relationships and society."

The march of time can be unkind to the human body but new research hints at a cause -- and possible solution -- for some of the ailments and decline that often come with age.

Scientists have long known that cognitive decline as we get older and specific age-related diseases including Alzheimer's are linked to inflammation, but they are still uncovering precisely why and how this is the case.

Research published in the journal Nature pinpoints the role of a messenger hormone found in much higher levels in older people and mice than their younger counterparts.

When the hormone was blocked in older mice, they were able to perform as well as more youthful rodents in tests of their memory and navigation.

The researchers found that higher levels of the hormone affected the metabolism of immune cells called macrophages, prompting them to store energy rather than consume it.

That effectively starved the cells, sending them into a damaging inflammatory hyperdrive associated with age-related cognitive decline and several age-related diseases.

The hormone, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), "is a major regulator of all types of inflammation, both good and bad, and its effect depends on the receptor that is activated," the study's senior author Katrin Andreasson told AFP.

"In this study, we identified the EP2 receptor... as the receptor that leads to energy depletion and maladaptive inflammation," added Andreasson, a professor of neurology at Stanford University.

Having isolated the role played by PGE2, Andreasson and her team then set out to see if there was a way to counteract its negative effects.

They administered to mice two experimental compounds that can block the EP2 receptor and found it reversed the metabolic problems seen in older macrophages -- restoring their more youthful behaviour and preventing destructive inflammatory activity.

They found similar effects in mice that were genetically modified with deletions of the EP2 receptor.

- 'Very excited' -

Older mice that received the compounds or had the receptor deleted from their genes performed as well as young mice when tested for navigation and spatial memory, both of which deteriorate with ageing and diseases like Alzheimer's.

"Our study suggests that the development of maladaptive inflammation and cognitive decline in ageing may not be a static or permanent condition, but rather that it can be reversed," the study says.

Andreasson said the findings, while still preliminary, could have implications for a broad range of conditions.

"This would apply to most age-associated inflammatory diseases," including Alzheimer's, atherosclerosis and arthritis, she told AFP, saying she was "very excited" about the possible applications.

But the research is still in its early stages, and there are several unanswered questions. It is not yet clear how much PGE2 is too much, and how it accumulates over a lifetime.

And neither of the experimental compounds have been tested in humans, so it is unclear whether they could be toxic, although no harmful side effects were seen in the mice tested.

Andreasson said her team is now working on several questions thrown up by the research, including understanding more fully the mechanisms that produce cognitive decline and investigating the role of cell metabolism functions in ageing.

"While intriguing, this is early-stage research carried out in mice," noted Susan Kohlhaas, director of research at Alzheimer's Research UK, who was not involved in the study.

"While the results deserve further follow-up, there are many steps to go before we will know if this is likely to be a successful strategy for treatment of dementia," she added.

"We need to see experiments in environments that closely mirror the human brain."

Turn back time? Study hints at way to halt decline as we age

Italian police have found a 500-year-old copy of Leonardo da Vinci's Salvator Mundi in a Naples flat and returned it to a church that had no idea it had been stolen.
Officers said late Monday they had arrested the 36-year-old owner of the apartment on suspicion of receiving stolen goods, after the painting was found in his bedroom cupboard.

Depicting Jesus Christ with his hand raised in a blessing and holding a crystal orb, the painting is part of the Doma Museum collection within the San Domenico Maggiore church complex in Naples.

It is a copy of Leonardo's famous work that in 2017 became the most expensive painting ever sold, fetching $450 million at a Christie's auction.

But the collection has been without visitors for months due to coronavirus restrictions and nobody had reported it missing.

It was not immediately clear how the police came to discover the theft of the painting, but they said it was a "particularly complex operation".

"The painting was found on Saturday thanks to a brilliant and diligent police operation," said Naples prosecutor Giovanni Melillo.

"There was no complaint on the matter and in fact we contacted the (church) prior, who was not aware of its disappearance, as the room where the painting is kept has not been open for three months."

The oil painting is believed to be by artist Giacomo Alibrandi and dates to the early 1500s.

Commissioned theft

Having returned the painting to the church, police are now investigating how it was stolen in the first place, as there was no sign of a break-in, Melillo said.

"Whoever took the painting wanted it, and it is plausible that it was a commissioned theft by an organisation working in the international art trade," he added.

Video images released by police showed an empty wall inside a large niche where the artwork had been housed, in an alcove behind heavy wooden doors locked with a key.

Women opt for monochrome, colour-block at Biden-Harris inauguration

Following severe backlash over its February cover image featuring Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris, Vogue magazine has decided to publish a limited print edition with a new image of Harris.

The limited edition of the February issue will feature an image of Harris which was earlier part of the digital cover. The edition will be published after Harris is sworn in as the Vice President of US on Wednesday.

Kamala Harris is the first person of Black and south Asian descent to have become the Vice President of the US. She is also the first woman to have reached the second-highest office in America.

Vogue's original cover had Harris wearing Converse sneakers and casual clothes. The image had sparked outrage as many questioned the magazine's decision to choose the image over the more formal online cover. In the online image, Harris can be seen wearing a powder blue Michael Kors suit, standing in front of a gold background.

The cover image had been criticised over its casual tone. Many felt it took away Kamala Harris enormous achievements and weightage of her position. The Washington Post fashion critic Robin Givhan wrote, “Vogue robbed Harris of her roses. A bit of awe would have served the magazine well in its cover decisions. Nothing about the cover said, ‘Wow.’ And sometimes, that’s all Black women want, an admiring and celebratory ‘wow’ over what they have accomplished.”

There were others who also felt that Harris's skin tone was also tampered with.

A Vogue spokesperson said, “In recognition of the enormous interest in the digital cover and in celebration of this historic moment, we will be publishing a limited number of special edition inauguration issues."

Last week, Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, explained that the original photo was chosen for its accessibility and approachability.
Wintour also discussed the negative reaction to the photo.

“Obviously we have heard and understood the reaction to the print cover,” Wintour told the New York Times, “and I just want to reiterate that it was absolutely not our intention to, in any way, diminish the importance of the vice president-elect's incredible victory."

The cover made it to headlines as Kamala Harris reportedly expressed her displeasure over the choice of clothes and background that was selected. There were two options reportedly, one which had Kamala Harris in a powder blue suit with her arms crossed, looking like a boss while the second one was more casual in its approach as she sports an athleisure piece with sneakers that go with the background of pink and green curtains. Formal or casual? Kamala Harris magazine cover starts a debate on social media
Reportedly, the US Vogue’s team and that of Kamala Harris had a disagreement over the choice between the two for the cover. While Kamala wanted the suit to make it to cover, it was after all the casual one that was picked for the cover of her spread.

Joe Biden will continue the tradition of having pets inside the White House. The arrival of the Bidens and their dogs Major and Champ at the White House this week will mark the return of a longstanding tradition - four-legged furry friends have always been a part of the 18-acre estate that is home to the US president.

Outgoing President Donald Trump was the first president since Andrew Johnson in the 1860s not to share the presidential digs with a dog or a cat - or even a raccoon, like the one kept by Calvin Coolidge in the 1920s.
Major, a German Shepherd, is the first rescue dog to move in at the White House. The Bidens adopted him in November 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association. Champ, also a German Shepherd, joined the family in 2008.
"From shelter pup at the Delaware Humane Association to First Dog at the White House, Major Biden is barking proof that every dog can live the American dream," said the group, which hosted an online 'indoguration' fundraiser on January 17 to celebrate Major`s move into the White House on January 20.
The Clintons` Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Buddy, joined cat Socks at the White House; while George HW Bush and family had several dogs in the White House, including Millie, the star of a children`s book written by Bush`s wife Barbara.

Italian luxury label Prada has ended all cooperation with Chinese actress Zheng Shuang, a week after appointing her as a brand ambassador, after she was engulfed in a surrogacy controversy that has enthralled the Chinese public.

Prada made the announcement late on Tuesday, after coming under heavy criticism on Chinese social media for cooperating with 30-year-old Zheng, whose former partner Zhang Heng has accused her of trying to abandon two young children the couple had through a U.S.-based surrogate.

It is the latest global brand to succumb to public pressure in China, where customers have become increasingly vocal about their expectations for the behaviour of companies and celebrities, especially foreign ones.

"The Prada Group has terminated all cooperation with Ms Zheng Shuang," the company said on its official Weibo account, without providing further details.

Prada did not respond to Reuters queries on Wednesday. Zheng and Zhang also did not answer Reuters` requests for comment.

China has become an increasingly important market for luxury labels during the global pandemic and its shoppers are expected to account for around half of all global spending on high-end brands in 2020, up from 37% in 2019, according to McKinsey & Company.

Prada has said the group`s China sales jumped 60% in June and 66% in July.

"The hit to Prada`s image is huge," said Huang Shengming, professor of the Communication University of China in Beijing. "Their decision to stop working with Zheng is an effort to cut their losses and it`s the right move."

SURROGACY CONTROVERSY

The controversy erupted on Monday after Zheng`s former partner Zhang Heng said on social media that the couple had turned to a surrogate to birth two children in the United States and released voice recordings of a woman he said was Zheng lamenting that the children could not be aborted.

Italian luxury label Prada has ended all cooperation with Chinese actress Zheng Shuang, a week after appointing her as a brand ambassador, after she was engulfed in a surrogacy controversy that has enthralled the Chinese public.

"Their decision to stop working with Zheng is an effort to cut their losses and it`s the right move." SURROGACY CONTROVERSY The controversy erupted on Monday after Zheng`s former partner Zhang Heng said on social media that the couple had turned to a surrogate to birth two children in the United States and released voice recordings of a woman he said was Zheng lamenting that the children could not be aborted. Zhang said he was stranded in the United States because he had to take care of the two children born in 2019 and 2020. Zheng quickly became the target of public criticism, with Weibo users calling her "irresponsible" and "vicious". The controversy has over the past three days been a top trending item on the Twitter-like site, with 600 million views and more than 100,000 comments. Desis on Twitter wonder if Kamala Harris will wear a sari on Inauguration Day or gown inspired by the Indian dress?

It was a sight to watch as US President-elect Joe Biden accompanied by wife Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris along with husband Doug Emhoff were spotted at the National Mall in Washington DC for a COVID Memorial honouring and remembering American lives that were lost during the pandemic. US Inauguration Day 2021 Live updates: Biden set to be next US President

Looking at the Mall’s pool of reflection were President-elect and Vice President-elect with their spouses. At the commemoration, Joe Biden said, “To heal we must remember. It’s hard sometimes to remember but that’s how we heal. It’s important to do that as a nation… Let us shine the lights in the darkness… and remember all whom we lost.”

Kamala Harris had followed and said, “Tonight we grieve and begin healing together. Though we may be physically separated we the American people are united in spirit. And my abiding hope, my abiding prayer, is that we emerge from this ordeal with a new wisdom: to cherish simple moments, to imagine new possibilities, and to open our hearts just a little bit more to one another.”

As America hopes for a new future and hope for change, we can also reflect on changes that were hinted by the way of Kamala Harris and Dr Jill Biden’s sartorial choices. Dr. Biden chose a purple wrap coat and paneled dress from the fall 2021 collection of Jonathan Cohen, one of a new generation of American designers who is championing sustainability and responsible design. The color of the coat and mask was made from fabric scraps from Cohen’s studio. Also, the colour purple is what you get when you mix red and blue -- of the American flag.

Meanwhile, Vice President-elect Harris wore a camel coat by Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss, a Black designer. On his runways, Jean-Raymond has addressed the erasure of African American narratives in popular culture via a three-part series of collections that he called “American, Also,” which included one show at Weeksville, a black neighborhood in Brooklyn.

The lack of compliments and acts of kindness from their spouses is the top reason for female infidelity, reveals a study.

The survey was conducted by dating app Gleeden on over 11,000 female users and according to their responses, 84 percent of women complain about their partners not giving them enough attention and compliments whereas 61 percent admit that lack of compliments cause discussions and tension within the couple. Further, 77 percent of respondents admitted that this behaviour is the primary reason which brought them to stray away from their married life.

The survey added that 82 percent of the respondents stated that they need to feel appreciated and valued in their relationship, lack of which forces them to look elsewhere. For 76 percent, the lack of compliments undermines their ability to feel desirable and seductive. Lastly, 42 percent find it hard to feel sexually attracted and aroused towards someone who doesn`t feel the same way, forcing them to look for love outside the relationship.

The Journal of Sex Marital Therapy supports these revelations that an inattentive partner can have a devastating impact on a woman`s interest in the relationship. It states that women who regularly receive compliments from their fiance, husband, or boyfriend about their looks are more sexually fulfilled than others.
Ana de Armas is sporting a brand-new hairstyle after breaking up with Ben Affleck. The actress, 32, debuted a new look on Sunday in a video message to a friend after her split. Donning a black bob and bangs, the look is a dramatic shift from the shoulder-length locks. According to People, after reportedly spending time in Cuba with family recently, Armas and Affleck have ended their relationship of nearly a year. The actors had started dating in early 2020 while filming the upcoming thriller 'Deep Water' in New Orleans. They were clicked during a trip to her native Cuba. They then headed to Costa Rica for a romantic vacation before returning to Los Angeles. The Knives Out actress confirmed their relationship on Instagram in April when she shared photos with Affleck for her 32nd birthday. The ex-couple was frequently seen together during the summer as they both spent the quarantine period in Los Angeles. At the time, de Armas spent time with Affleck and his kids, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: daughters Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, as well as 8-year-old son Samuel.
Zee Theatre's curation of diverse human stories with a universal resonance continues to gather momentum in the new year. This month, with a special focus on regional narratives, it will screen three acclaimed Marathi plays, 'Selfie,' 'U-Turn,' and 'U-Turn 2' on Tata Sky Theatre. The plays explore social and personal dilemmas with insight and are relatable at many levels.

Here is an overview of the offerings:

Selfie:
Actress Shilpa Navalkar made her debut as a playwright with ‘Selfie‘, an engrossing narrative about women from different walks of life. Swati Kautekar, a nurse in a private hospital, Vibhavari, an English professor, Tanuja Sharma, a housewife, Shalmali Pradhan, a well-known actress, and Meenakshi, a vice-president of a company, are all women who happen to meet one another in a waiting room of a train station. As they begin to get comfortable in each other's presence, these young and middle-aged women from different walks of life share their outlook on life and society in general and take a closer, critical look at their own lives.

Directed by Ajit Bhure, the teleplay stars Sukanya Kulkarni, Rujuta Deshmukh, Poorva Gokhale, Shilpa Navalkar and Sonali Pandit.

U-Turn:
This award-winning play revolves around a retired and divorced army officer, Major Sudhir and a widow, Rama. Their reflections depict their different attitudes towards life and question the narrow Indian mentality towards the concept of companionship. The two lonely souls want to spend the twilight of their life together but their children are against the idea. The theme of the play revolves around the companionship that a man and woman share and how their relationship goes through various ups and downs.

Directed by Anand Mhasvekar, the play stars Girish Oak and Ila Bhate.

U-Turn 2:
The play narrates what happens when army veteran Major Sudhir decides to visit his widowed friend Rama in Pune. Rama who lives alone is excited to see him but is wary of societal disapproval and the reactions of her neighbours. However, when Major Sudhir suffers a heart attack, she not only admits him to the hospital but also takes care of him post his discharge. Seeing them together, people begin to get curious and their probing questions make Rama increasingly defensive and uncomfortable. Will the two tackle the negativity coming their way with courage and stand their ground? Or will they give in and go their separate ways?
