Soon after sharing a vulnerable post for her unborn son who was lost in a miscarriage, Chrissy Teigen was seen spending time with her two children Luna and Miles.

The former model and cookbook writer shared images on her Instagram on Sunday, in a lovely cream floral off-the-shoulder gown.

One image was a Boomerang video showing her seated on the grass next to a small table with her son and daughter, as the trio enjoyed an outdoor party with confections and drinks. The happy, composed image of mother and children showed all three smiling, as Miles, two, reached for a cookie.

In the caption, Teigen wrote, "fellow parents, you know the stars that had to align to make this happen". The caption read, 'last day' along with a cry face emoji.
One of the most iconic paintings, The Scream, has always had mysterious graffiti, done by none other than its artist Edvard Munch.

The infrared scans of the painting have revealed a small and barely visible sentence written on the painting, stirring the art world and starting the debate - who wrote it on the painting.

The words, "Can only have been painted by a madman", are inscribed in pencil in the top left-hand corner. Now, new tests made by The National Museum of Norway have confirmed they were made by the man himself.

According to BBC, the original painting, first displayed in Munch's home city Oslo (then Kristiania) in 1893, has become a radical and timeless expression of human anxiety. Its influence stretches as far as the 90s Hollywood Scream horror film series, and on to the modern-day emoji.

The artwork has undergone conservation in preparation for its installment in the new museum, which is due to open in the Norwegian capital next year.

Critics have long questioned whether the graffiti was an act of vandalism done by an outraged spectator, or written by Munch himself, who was known to have had mental health problems throughout his life.

Now, with the help of the scan, the long-standing point of conjecture has come to a conclusion that the words were written by Munch.

"The writing is without a doubt Munch's own," said museum curator Mai Britt Guleng. "The handwriting itself, as well as events that happened in 1895, when Munch showed the painting in Norway for the first time, all point in the same direction."

In 1994, The Scream was stolen from a Norwegian art museum. It was recovered in a daring undercover operation by British detectives.

The graffiti reveals Munch's state of mind who was disturbed by the death of his mother and sister at a very young age. As per the artist's diaries, he had been anxious and depressed, as long as he can remember. It's believed he returned to the painting to add his pencilled statement afterwards.

"For as long as I can remember I have suffered from a deep feeling of anxiety which I have tried to express in my art," Munch wrote. "Without this anxiety and illness I would have been like a ship without a rudder."

A recent survey on college students sheds light on the surge in prevalence of depression and anxiety in young people, and now reaching its highest levels.

The study of nearly 33,000 college students across the country reveals the prevalence of depression and anxiety in young people continues to increase, now reaching its highest levels, a sign of the mounting stress factors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, political unrest, and systemic racism and inequality. "Half of the students in fall 2020 screened positive for depression and/or anxiety," said Sarah Ketchen Lipson, a Boston University mental health researcher and a co-principal investigator of the nationwide survey published on February 11, 2021, which was administered online during the fall 2020 semester through the Healthy Minds Network.

The survey further reveals that 83 per cent of students said their mental health had negatively impacted their academic performance within the past month, and that two-thirds of college students are struggling with loneliness and feeling isolated--an all-time high prevalence that reflects the toll of the pandemic and the social distancing necessary to control it.

Lipson, a BU School of Public Health assistant professor of health law, policy, and management, said the survey`s findings underscore the need for university teaching staff and faculty to put mechanisms in place that can accommodate students` mental health needs."Faculty need to be flexible with deadlines and remind students that their talent is not solely demonstrated by their ability to get a top grade during one challenging semester," Lipson said. She added that instructors can protect students` mental health by having class assignments due at 5 pm, rather than midnight or 9 am, times that Lipson said can encourage students to go to bed later and lose valuable sleep to meet those deadlines.

Especially in smaller classroom settings, where a student`s absence may be more noticeable than in larger lectures, instructors who notice someone missing classes should reach out to that student directly to ask how they are doing."Even in larger classes, where 1:1 outreach is more difficult, instructors can send class-wide emails reinforcing the idea that they care about their students not just as learners but as people, and circulating information about campus resources for mental health and wellness," Lipson said. And, crucially, she said, instructors must bear in mind that the burden of mental health is not the same across all student demographics. "Students of colour and low-income students are more likely to be grieving the loss of a loved one due to COVID," Lipson said. They are also "more likely to be facing financial stress." All of these factors can negatively impact mental health and academic performance in "profound ways," she said.

At a higher level within colleges and universities, Lipson said, administrators should focus on providing students with mental health services that emphasise prevention, coping, and resilience. The fall 2020 survey data revealed a significant "treatment gap," meaning that many students who screen positive for depression or anxiety are not receiving mental health services."Often students will only seek help when they find themselves in a mental health crisis, requiring more urgent resources," Lipson said. "But how can we create systems to foster wellness before they reach that point?"

She has a suggestion: "All students should receive mental health education, ideally as part of the required curriculum."It`s also important to note, she said, that rising mental health challenges are not unique to the college setting--instead, the survey findings are consistent with a broader trend of declining mental health in adolescents and young adults. "I think mental health is getting worse [across the US population], and on top of that we are now gathering more data on these trends than ever before," Lipson said. "We know mental health stigma is going down, and that`s one of the biggest reasons we are able to collect better data. People are being more open, having more dialogue about it, and we`re able to better identify that people are struggling.

"The worsening mental health of Americans, more broadly, Lipson said, could be due to a confluence of factors: the pandemic, the impact of social media, and shifting societal values that are becoming more extrinsically motivated (a successful career, making more money, getting more followers and likes), rather than intrinsically motivated (being a good member of the community). The crushing weight of historic financial pressures is an added burden. "Student debt is so stressful," Lipson said. "You`re more predisposed to experiencing anxiety the more debt you have.

And research indicates that suicidality is directly connected to financial well-being."With more than 22 million young people enrolled in US colleges and universities, "and with the traditional college years of life coinciding with the age of onset for lifetime mental illnesses," Lipson stresses that higher education is a crucial setting where prevention and treatment can make a difference. One potential bright spot from the survey was that the stigma around mental health continues to fade.

The results reveal that 94 per cent of students say that they wouldn`t judge someone for seeking out help for mental health, which Lipson said is an indicator that also correlates with those students being likely to seek out help themselves during a personal crisis (although, paradoxically, almost half of the students say they perceive that others may think more poorly of them if they did seek help)."We`re harsher on ourselves and more critical of ourselves than we are with other people--we call that perceived versus personal stigma," Lipson said.

"Students need to realise, your peers are not judging you."

London Fashion Week begins on Friday in a virtual format due to a coronavirus lockdown with mainstays like Victoria Beckham shunning the event but others like Burberry embracing the online avatar.

Despite the absence of global celebrities and fashionistas, designers such as Turkey's Bora Aksu, Britain's Molly Goddard and Ireland's Simone Rocha will stream their collections on the London Fashion Week website.

Most of the 94 designers participating in the show, which concludes on Tuesday, will broadcast video highlights of their collections showcasing menswear, womenswear or mixed fashions in an event that is now gender-neutral.

On Monday, the British brand Burberry -- known for its tailored trenchcoats -- will present its menswear Autumn/Winter collection for 2021, designed by Italian creative director Riccardo Tisci.

In September, the brand presented its Spring/Summer 2021 collection in a film set in the middle of a forest and broadcast live on Twitch. The streaming platform has grown in popularity, broadcasting live video gameplay and offering the possibility of live commentary. More than 40,000 people watched the innovative show, which could be viewed from different perspectives.

- Impact of Brexit -

Former Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckham will present her creations a few days before London Fashion Week. Her collection, which mixes the seasons, aims to be "optimistic but realistic", she explained.

Beckham has been living under coronavirus lockdown in Florida, where her husband, former England football captain David Beckham, is now one of the co-owners of the American professional soccer club Inter Miami. During the pandemic, the former pop star said "people still want to dress up" but with "a need for comfort".

Her designs include military details that evoke a "sense of protection -- a toughness", she added. Her collection also exhibits a lighter, more delicate side with dresses made from Jersey fabric or with prints of flowers and goldfish.

The more joyful designs are in stark contrast to the grim outlook for the fashion industry in Britain, seriously impacted by the pandemic. The UK suffered more than 118,000 Covid-19 deaths and has been under national lockdown measures since January.

The fashion sector, which employs more than 890,000 people and contributed £35 billion ($48 million, 39 billion euros) to UK GDP in 2019, has also been hit by Brexit and the end of free movement between the EU and the island nation.

In early February, hundreds of fashion figures, -- including top former models like Twiggy and Yasmin Le Bon -- signed an open letter, coordinated by the industry forum Fashion Roundtable, warning the sector risked being decimated because of Brexit.

To increase the visibility of young talent in the pandemic, the British Fashion Council, which represents the industry, has partnered with the social media giant TikTok.

The umbrella organisation has also joined forces with Clearpay, a group allowing customers to "buy now pay later" to boost sales.

Larry King's wife Shawn has plans to contest his will. According to ET, that the late TV personality amended his will in 2019 leaving his $2 million estate to his five children, two of whom are now deceased. Shawn was not included in the amendment. Though, it does mention his now-deceased children Chaia and Andy as beneficiaries along with the 3 remaining ones, Larry King, Jr., Cannon, and Chance.
The will is dated October 17, 2019, per multiple reports; King filed for divorce from Shawn two months earlier, in August 2019, after 22 years of marriage. According to ET's source, Shawn plans to contest the will in court.

The broadcast legend's handwritten will was recently revealed. King stated in his amended will that he wanted his kids to get all of his fortunes and divide them equally. Sadly in 2020, King's 65-year-old son, Andy, died in July while his 51-year-old daughter, Chaia, died a month later.

The 3 who never fail to make me smile: Barack Obama's sweet tribute to family on Valentine's Day

In a business still dominated by men, French chef Helene Darroze credits a feminine, "emotional" touch for her unprecedented leap from three to five Michelin stars this year.

Darroze is already a household name in France thanks to her appearances on "Top Chef" -- famous enough even to have a Barbie doll in her image.

And when the latest Michelin guide was published last month, the 53-year-old became the first woman to pick up two stars at once: a third for her London restaurant at The Connaught hotel and a second for Marsan in Paris.

That puts her in a tiny club of just seven women worldwide who run a three-star kitchen.

She is adamant that her womanhood is the reason for her success: "Men and women are not made in the same way," she told AFP. "And it shows on the plate."

"A man primarily wants to show off what he can do, whereas a woman wants to please. It is more about emotion, to which technique is added, rather than technique with emotion added later," she said.

Darroze is careful to stress that she has "great respect" for male chefs.

But her message to the fast-growing generation of female chefs is "Live your passion as women... do not try to be someone else."

- 'Don't call me chef' -
That attitude shows not only in her cooking, but in her approach to the workplace.

She says she has been fortunate to be spared the misogyny suffered by many female counterparts in this "male environment" and has tried to avoid the abrasive, military style of the typical kitchen with its ranks and barking orders.

"Problems aren't solved by yelling or throwing a spoon," she says.

Not all her efforts at creating an informal atmosphere have worked, however: "I never wanted to be called 'chef', just Helene. But though I keep telling my colleagues that you don't earn respect with a title, a few still don't call me by my name."

She now has more Michelin stars than any woman other than her compatriot Anne-Sophie Pic (who has eight) -- an achievement she still "can't quite believe."

But because of the pandemic, Darroze has not even been able to travel to Britain to celebrate with her team at The Connaught, or with her friend Clare Smyth of London's Core who also became a three-star chef last month.

- Comfort -
Darroze is the fourth generation of her family to go into the business, and her restaurants are renowned for the Basque flavours of her home region in southwestern France.

She almost didn't follow in the family footsteps, opting for business school in the 1980s ("It was the done thing"), until famed chef Alain Ducasse encouraged her to launch herself into haute cuisine at his Louis XV restaurant of Monte Carlo.

Being a woman has imposed some difficult decisions throughout her career, not least delaying motherhood until the age of 40, when she adopted two Vietnamese girls. By then, she already had two Michelin stars.

Recipes such as poached lobster with tandoori butter, and grouse with foie gras and whiskey sauce, helped win her the title of "Best female chef in the world" in 2015 from Britain's "50 Best Restaurants".

Even someone of Darroze's skill has not escaped unsinged from the ravages of the past year, however: it has taken government support and a click-and-collect service at her other Paris restaurant Joia to stay afloat.

But overall she is optimistic.

"When all this is over, we will want a cuisine that comforts us."

Saint Valentine's Day may now be celebrated worldwide but traditions are often very different -- and sometimes have nothing at all to do with romance.

Valentine's Day: Flowers, chocolates or a good whipping?

After the pandemic torpedoed his chance to work at a Michelin-starred New York restaurant, Lim Wei Keat returned to his roots by becoming a Singapore street-food chef cooking local fare.

The 25-year-old is among a growing number of young street-food vendors -- known as "hawkers" locally -- fuelling hopes that a new generation will preserve the city-state's culinary traditions.

Singapore is full of open-air food courts offering a wide variety of cuisines influenced by the Southeast Asian nation's ethnic Chinese, Indian and Muslim populations.

Even after the city-state ballooned into an affluent financial hub, the hawker tradition lived on, and remains a central part of everyday life for many.

The United Nations recognised this tradition as "intangible cultural heritage" in December, describing the centres where hawkers toil as "community dining rooms" that bring together people from diverse backgrounds.

But many chefs are heading toward retirement -- their median age is 59 -- and young Singaporeans often shun the trade, stoking fears that hawker traditions and their delicious dishes could be lost.

Lim stumbled into becoming an apprentice hawker, only choosing to do so as he could not take up an internship at a US restaurant last year due to coronavirus travel curbs.

But he feels he has found his true calling.

"Local dishes would disappear if young people did not take over stalls or learn (to cook) these dishes," Lim told AFP.

He got the apprenticeship through government initiatives aimed at safeguarding the street food culture, which has helped dozens of younger chefs join the trade.

- 'This flavour will disappear' -
Hawkers usually focus on just one or two dishes, from fried rice noodles and turnip cake to curry puffs. Lim chose an ever-popular traditional favourite -- Hainanese chicken rice -- and likes to cook it the old-fashioned way.

"I love chicken rice, so why not start with something that I love and I'm passionate about?"

His mentor, 61-year-old Neo Cheng Leong, has been selling the dish for 30 years.

He makes it from scratch every morning at his stall, cleaning the chicken, poaching it at just the right temperature, then cooking the rice in chicken broth, with ginger and scallion-infused oil.

Cuts of the tender meat are served with a plate of the resultant fragrant rice with garlic chilli sauce and sweetened soy sauce, all for just Sg$3 ($2.3).

His two sons, both in their early 20s, are studying at university and have no interest in taking over the stall after seeing how hard their parents worked for three decades, said Neo.

"If I don't teach (apprentices) then this flavour will disappear from Singapore," Neo told AFP.

Once Lim has completed his government training programme -- which includes two months of training under Neo, and cooking for a panel of judges -- he can rent a stall at a heavily subsidised rate for 15 months.

- 'What's wrong with you?' -
Still, there are many challenges that make it hard to lure young Singaporeans from better-paid office jobs, such as rising costs and long hours.

And then there is the stigma.

"Back in the day, it was really seen as a profession for those who have no route into life," said K.F. Seetoh, an influential critic and entrepreneur who created a popular guide for hawker food.

After the pandemic torpedoed his chance to work at a Michelin-starred New York restaurant, Lim Wei Keat returned to his roots by becoming a Singapore street-food chef cooking local fare.

- 'This flavour will disappear' - Hawkers usually focus on just one or two dishes, from fried rice noodles and turnip cake to curry puffs. Lim chose an ever-popular traditional favourite -- Hainanese chicken rice -- and likes to cook it the old-fashioned way. "I love chicken rice, so why not start with something that I love and I'm passionate about?" His mentor, 61-year-old Neo Cheng Leong, has been selling the dish for 30 years. - 'What's wrong with you?' - Still, there are many challenges that make it hard to lure young Singaporeans from better-paid office jobs, such as rising costs and long hours. And then there is the stigma. "Back in the day, it was really seen as a profession for those who have no route into life," said K.F. Seetoh, an influential critic and entrepreneur who created a popular guide for hawker food. "There's still a school of people who would say 'what, you want to be a hawker? What's wrong with you?'" Hawkers are also forced to keep prices low to compete with rivals, meaning that making ends meet in one of the world's most expensive cities can be tough. Shawn Aw, a chef who runs a noodle stall with his 60-year-old mother, admitted it was hard work and said he only made around Sg$1,000 ($750) per month -- far below Singapore's median wage, Sg$4,500 ($3,370), according to official data.
Pet dogs are far more likely to play with one another when their owner is present and being attentive, according to a new study, raising the intriguing possibility that they are putting on a show for our benefit.

That our canine companions are keenly attuned to the level of interest humans are showing them is well established, Lindsay Mehrkam, an animal behaviorist and lead author of the paper that appeared in Animal Cognition, told AFP Tuesday.

"But we weren't aware of any research that has really shown the effect of a human audience impacting species typical behavior, in this case dog-dog play."

Mehrkam oversaw an experiment involving 10 pairs of pet dogs that had lived together for at least six months.

The duos ordinarily engaged in play at least once a day, according to their owners.

The researchers videotaped the dog pairs under three conditions: where the owner was absent, where the owner was present but ignoring them, and where the owner was present and showering them with attention in the form of verbal praise and petting.

To ensure the experiment was robust, they ran each of the conditions three times over the course of several days.

"We found overall that the availability of owner attention did in fact facilitate play," said Mehrkam, with human attention increasing both the frequency and intensity of behaviors like bowing, hip nudges, wrestling, chasing, gentle bites and so on.

"It's really quite striking that dogs who have the chance to play with each other whenever they want to, nonetheless are much more likely to get up off their butts and start playing when a person is just paying attention to them," said co-author Clive Wynne of Arizona State University.

- Seeking attention like children? -
The researchers offered several ideas for what might be driving the effect.

One possibility is that an owner's attention might be a reward the dogs are seeking, like young children pleading with their parents to watch them as they show off what they can do.

The dogs might have also learned that playing among themselves leads to bigger prizes, such as the owner joining in the fun, or taking them outside.

Or, their owner might provide the dogs a sense of safety, because although animals use play to strengthen bonds, it can sometimes turn tense and lead to aggression. Having a person around is insurance against a fight.

Their human's presence could also be a trigger that enriches the general environment, perhaps causing a rush of the love hormone oxytocin, which leads to a more positive emotional state that in turn manifests as play.

"It's one of those types of studies that leads to a lot more questions than answers," said Mehrkam, adding she was working on untangling the various threads in ongoing experiments.

Dog show: Pet pooches play more when humans are watching

It's a Covid-era conundrum for Valentine's Day: how to eat out with your beloved when you live in a country where all restaurants are closed?

The answer hit upon by a handful of hotels in Belgium's capital is to convert empty rooms into private dining salons for two, where a four-course meal with champagne and wine can be enjoyed without breaking the household "bubble".

"We're over the moon about being here tonight, just like in a restaurant," said Marine Deroo, a 34-year-old Frenchwoman living in Brussels who was trying out the concept just ahead of Valentine's Day.

"We've been cooped up at home for months. We've tried setting up pretend 'evenings out' at home -- but to actually go out, like to a restaurant, it's a super opportunity that we just jumped on," she said.

She and her boyfriend had just been greeted and shown to a candle-lit table set up where a bed used to be, as music travelled into their room in the Qbic Hotel, which says it pioneered the idea.

A waitress hovered to take their choices from the menu, including a bottle of wine, which had to be ordered before a government coronavirus ban on serving alcohol past 8:00pm kicked in.

It's not just room service, the hotel manager, Bert Vandewaetere pointed out. The 149-euro ($180) package covers a hotel room to sleep in, a separate room to dine in, the dinner -- not including any drinks -- and breakfast.

"Basically, people dress themselves up for a really good night on a Saturday evening -- children at home, only couples are coming here, just two people," he said.

- 'Finally we can go out' -
He said he came up with the idea after Belgium closed restaurants and bars in November to slow the spread of the coronavirus, aggravating an already steep drop in hotel business because of cancelled trade fairs and other events.

It was especially important that the Qbic prove itself, as it had opened in late 2019, just before the pandemic hit.

Providing free rooms to frontline medical workers in the pandemic's first wave and a lobby co-working area for university students kept activity ticking over, providing at least some work for the hotel's staff, most of whom are furloughed.

But it was only two months ago, when some of the empty rooms were turned into two-person dining chambers, that business really took off on weekends.

"The idea came because a lot of people were frustrated to stay at home," Vandewaetere said.

"We have plenty of rooms -- so why not combine them with a really nice offer, to offer them the time of their life on a Saturday when half of Belgium wants to go out?"

- 'Finally we can go out' - He said he came up with the idea after Belgium closed restaurants and bars in November to slow the spread of the coronavirus, aggravating an already steep drop in hotel business because of cancelled trade fairs and other events. "We have plenty of rooms -- so why not combine them with a really nice offer, to offer them the time of their life on a Saturday when half of Belgium wants to go out?" The reaction was swift. "The comments that we receive from people were really: 'Finally, I had some time alone with my partner. Finally, I had some other walls to look at, not just my living room at home. Finally, we can go out again'," he said. Other hotels in Brussels have followed suit, opening up the possibility to dine out while respecting social distancing rules.
