Story highlights

Remember Viva, India's first all-girl band? They are back with a reprised version of their hit song 'Jaago Zara'.

India's first all-girls band VIVA just reunited to sing one of their all-time hits in order to lift the spirits up of their fans.
Chosen through a reality tv contest the band comprised of singers Seema Ramchandani, Pratichee Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin, Mahua Kamat, and Anushka Manchanda. Their first album was an instant hit with young audience as they created hits like 'Jaago Zara’, ‘Jaha Ho Pyar Ka Mausam’ and ‘Hum Naye Geet Sunaye’.

Seema Ramchandani was the first to leave the band and eventually, the group disbanded and made careers in music. Now 15 years later, amid nationwide lockdown, the four members of the band came together to sing a reprised version of 'Jaago Zara'. Neha, Anushka, Pratichee and Mahua shot their version at their homes and then the video was edited into one. They also recorded their songs separately owing to the lockdown.

Anushka Manchanda, who also edited the video, shared a long emotional post about their reunion along with the new version of the song.  Calling it the 2020 version of 'Jaago Zaara', Anushka wrote, " Its been so many years and so much has happened, and still today, people come up to me, to us all, to tell us what Viva meant to them.

This video is for you, for every time you have thought of us, sent us messages, sung our songs and reached out to us to tell us how you feel Thank you for this everlasting love, this crazy bond you have built with us that has lasted so many years. We feel you, we give you love right back."

The video was shared by Anushka's other band members as well on social media.

The video brings back memories of early 2000 and still seems relevant for today's time. While the girls did not mention that if they were planning a reunion album soon, the video does give the fans a ray of hope.
