<p>Sofia Vergara will next be seen taking on the most dramatic role of her career&nbsp;in Netflix’s <em>Griselda</em>. In the show, Sofia will be seen playing the infamous Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. This is a welcome change for Sofia who is usually seen in fun and light parts, usually that fall in the comedy space.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sofia is best known for her famous role of Gloria Pritchett on <em>Modern Family</em> which ran for 11 seasons and earned her four Emmy nominations for her true-to-nature role.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What to expect from Griselda?</strong></h2>

<p>Excited for <em>Griselda,</em> Sofia Vergara told the Los Angeles Times, “I’m always looking for characters because there’s not much that I can play with this stupid accent. I can’t play a scientist or be in ‘Schindler’s List.’ My acting jobs are kind of limited.”</p>

<p>Since Griselda is a character not like any other she’s played, Sofia Vergara gave it her all. She hired an acting coach Nancy Banks to get the tone for the character right. Nancy has previously worked with the likes of Margot Robbie, Jennifer Aniston, and others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sofia added, “I had no clue what it meant to have a process. It was tricky because I don’t have any real training as an actor. I was married to Joe [Manganiello], who is a fucking classically trained actor. I would ask things and I would see how he would prepare. I was kind of always like, ‘What do real actors do? Can I do this?’”</p>

Oscars 2024 Nominations: Most Shocking Snubs

While everyone expected Barbenheimer to rule this year’s Oscars nominations, The Academy gave movie buffs a rude shock when they snubbed Barbie hard. Oppenheimer did get its due recognition but there were some serious snubs and surprises that the Oscars threw at us. Here’s a list.

The most shocking of all was the glaring omission of Margot Robbie from the Best Actress list even as Barbie was the highest-grossing film of 2023, critics and numbers alike.

We also thought Leo deserved a mention for his Killers of the Flower Moon role in the Best Actor category, but we know what The Academy thinks of him. Every time we’ve thought he should have won, he wasn’t given the Oscar.

Among the films, we think The Academy not finding a slot for this film in the Best Picture category is rather surprising. This was the film version of the Broadway musical that had audiences cheering and tearing up, to be fair.

If someone from the film Barbie had to be nominated, it had to be this masterful, visionary director who pulled off such a marvellous film on dolls. The Best Director list feels incomplete without a nod for her.

<p>The Academy revealed their Oscar nominations list for this year and one of the biggest snubs came as a rude shock for <em>Barbie</em>, last year’s biggest film in terms of critical review and box office numbers. The only notable nod for <em>Barbie</em> came for Ryan Gosling who played the role of Ken while The Academy gave Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie no mention in their list. Meanwhile, America Ferrera earned a nomination for Best Supporting Role.</p>

<h2><strong>What Ryan Gosling had to say about the Barbie snub</strong></h2>

<p>As the 96th Academy Awards nominations were announced and Ryan earned a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category, he spoke about The Academy not mentioning his director Gerwig and co-actor Margot. In a statement to People, he said, "There is no Ken without <em>Barbie,</em> and there is no <em>Barbie </em>movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film."</p>

<p>Acknowledging the two women for their contribution to the film, Ryan Gosling said, "No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius."&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, "Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees."</p>

<h2><strong>Barbie The Film</strong></h2>

<p><em>Barbie</em> was 2023’s biggest film. It featured Margot Robbie as the Mattel doll Barbie with Ryan Gosling as Ken, and America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell in supporting roles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Alia Bhatt is quite a mood. Her fashion choices never fail to amaze us and this time, when she was spotted at the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, she left everyone spellbound with her Ramayan-themed saree. Opting for a striking teal-coloured saree for the occasion, Alia Bhatt kept the look clean with minimal makeup and a chic updo.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Alia Bhatt's sartorial choice for Ram Mandir consecration ceremony</strong></h2>

<p>For the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, Alia Bhatt draped herself in a teal-coloured Mysore silk saree by designer clothing label Madhurya Creations. Her saree was adorned with intricate hand paintings of “important scenes from the Ramayana” as captioned by her stylist Ami Patel who is also the brainchild behind Madhurya Creations. These miniature paintings, which were done in traditional Pattachitra style, took a hundred hours to complete.&nbsp;</p>

Alia Bhatt is quite a mood. Her fashion choices never fail to amaze us and this time, when she was spotted at the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, she left everyone spellbound with her Ramayan-themed saree. Opting for a striking teal-coloured saree for the occasion, Alia Bhatt kept the look clean with minimal makeup and a chic updo. Alia Bhatt's sartorial choice for Ram Mandir consecration ceremony For the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, Alia Bhatt draped herself in a teal-coloured Mysore silk saree by designer clothing label Madhurya Creations. Her saree was adorned with intricate hand paintings of “important scenes from the Ramayana” as captioned by her stylist Ami Patel who is also the brainchild behind Madhurya Creations. These miniature paintings, which were done in traditional Pattachitra style, took a hundred hours to complete. <p>The <em>Aarya</em> season 3 trailer opens with Sushmita pointing a gun to her head, ready to kill herself. It is followed by the turn of events that led her to make that decision. This time, Sen will face an enemy in Ila Arun’s character.</p>

<p><em>Aarya</em> season 3 is created and co-directed by Ram Madhvani. The ensemble cast also includes Sikandar Kher, Indraneil Sengupta, Vikas Kumar, Maya Sarao, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Shweta Pasricha, Viren Vazirani, Pratyaksh Panwar, Aarushi Bajaj, Bhupendra Jadawat and Vishwajeet Pradhan amongst others.</p>

Despite whatever destiny holds for Aarya Sareen as she makes her fearless attack."</p>

<p>"Being Aarya Sareen on screen gave me a sense of power during times when I could not pick myself up. Aarya's on-screen family is today my off-screen family and will continue to be.”</p>

Sushmita Sen is back as Aarya in the new trailer of Aarya Antim Vaar. The new season of Aarya is here as we have a fiercer Sushmita tackle new challenges. She is seen caught between her arms supply business and three kids. The trailer for Aarya Antim Vaar shows that Sen can go to any extent to save her kids’ lives. The Aarya season 3 trailer opens with Sushmita pointing a gun to her head, ready to kill herself. It is followed by the turn of events that led her to make that decision. This time, Sen will face an enemy in Ila Arun’s character. Aarya season 3 is created and co-directed by Ram Madhvani. The ensemble cast also includes Sikandar Kher, Indraneil Sengupta, Vikas Kumar, Maya Sarao, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Shweta Pasricha, Viren Vazirani, Pratyaksh Panwar, Aarushi Bajaj, Bhupendra Jadawat and Vishwajeet Pradhan amongst others. Talking about the show, Sushmita said earlier, “It all started when Aarya's family was shredded into pieces. Despite the messes and the misses, she rose to become the fearless sherni of the business but now it's beyond just playing a part in this game, it is justice. Despite whatever destiny holds for Aarya Sareen as she makes her fearless attack." "Being Aarya Sareen on screen gave me a sense of power during times when I could not pick myself up. She gave me a new ground to explore as an actor and tune-in my emotional sensibilities and now that she gives her all and sacrifices everything for her family, it all feels more than personal. Aarya's on-screen family is today my off-screen family and will continue to be.” Watch the trailer of Aarya season 3 here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Disney+ Hotstar (@disneyplushotstar) × Aarya Antim Vaar will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from February 9.

National Tourism Day: Ways How Tree Plantation Boosts Green Tourism

National Tourism Day falls on January 25. It is an occasion to recognise the impact of afforestation on India’s growing tourism sector. Pradip Shah, environmentalist and co-founder of Grow-Trees.com explores how tree plantation not only aligns with the national strategy but also plays a vital role in preserving the ecological balance of our tourist destinations.

There is a growing trend to focus on eco-tourism while visiting hill stations and other eco-sensitive regions where trekking and similar activities are allowed. Planting more trees and enhancing the green cover in such areas can ensure that the benefits of a healthy environment spill over to the next generation.

Surge in mass tourism leads to excessive land use, pollution, fodder extraction and heightened human-wildlife conflicts. Recognising the strong connection between tree planting and ecological health, many organisations are increasingly working on ways to improve forest health.

In its 2023 report, 'A Healthy Forest for Healthy People,' the UN emphasises that sustainable forest management and the prudent use of resources are pivotal in the battle against climate change. Trees help us to combat climate change mainly due to their natural ability to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

Trees offer an aesthetic and calming green cover to urban zones. Some of the most famous cities in the world are known for their gardens, tree-lined avenues and public parks. In the concrete jungles of big cities, they also help to reduce the heat island effect, regulate microclimate, mitigate air pollution and improve hydrology.

Tree planting projects create multiple job opportunities for local communities. Conserving trees and biodiversity also creates a feeling of ownership. This active engagement of local communities is crucial in tourism as it facilitates vibrant cultural exchange for tourists to experience.
