Cuomo added that "we have the virus more than any other state because travelers from other parts of the world come here first," a statement that reportedly has some facts attached to it.

According to the report, millions entered the US even as restrictions were put in place which included Americans returning home.

President Donald Trump had restricted travel from China from February 2, although China reported its first death on December 31 and from January onwards Wuhan had begun reporting large number of infected cases and deaths.

New York has been the hardest hit due to the virus with 100,000 confirmed cases including some 2,300 deaths even as health officials complained of shortage of medical equipment.

The United States on Thursday recorded 1,169 COVID-19 fatalities which is&nbsp;the highest one-day death toll&nbsp;anywhere in the world as the country continues to grapple with the deadly virus.

In Italy, 969 people had died due to the virus earlier. The US also recorded over 30,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours presenting a grim picture for health officials and the Trump admnistration which has been scampering for a consistent battle plan since the virus spread to every state in America.

US vice president Mike Pence said on Thursday that over than 1.3 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the US, while President Trump asserted that "we are now conducting over 100,000 coronavirus tests per day," adding," "more than any other country in the world, both in terms of the raw number and on a per capita basis."

White House projections show the virus is expected to kill between 100,000 and 240,000 people in the US, however, there is still no consistent plan on how to stop the spread of the virus in New York which has now become the new epicenter.

The health ministry updated the figures on Friday reporting the total number of COVID-19 positive cases rising to 2,301 in India.&nbsp;

Earlier, at least 200 new cases were reported in India taking the number of infected cases to 2,069 on Friday. Out of these, 1,860 are active cases.

Bhilwara district collector Rajendra Bhatt said that no new cases were reported in the area in the past three days while informing that 13 out of 26 cases have come out negative in repeat tests. Curfew has been imposed without any relaxation for the next ten days in order to break the chain of Coronavirus, Bhatt added.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister's office said today that 161 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state which included &nbsp;140 who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi.

The Karnataka government said 125 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the state with three people dead due to the virus. One new case of the virus was detected in the state today.

The patient is a 75-year-old man from Bagalkot who has been isolated in a designated hospital, the Karnataka government added.

Meanwhile, police has been deployed in Telangana's Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad after some patients in coronavirus isolation ward allegedly attacked doctors on Thursday.

In Illinois last week Governor JB Pritzker had said an infant had died due to COVID-19, the state department of Public health later said that the child who died in Chicago was younger than one year old and had tested positive for COVID-19.

"There has never before been a death associated with COVID-19 in an infant," the department's director Ngozi Ezike said in a statement.

"A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of death."&nbsp;

On Wednesday, California officials warned the youth to adhere to safety warnings on coronavirus as the country grapples with the rising death toll.

Reports said a teen had tested positive and had died, however, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said the cause of the death "will require further evaluation."

"Though earlier tests indicated a positive result for COVID-19, the case is complex and there may be an alternate explanation for this fatality," it said.

In France last week a 16-year-old girl had died due to the virus in the&nbsp;Ile-de-France region of Paris.

“The Commander of Army Air Defence Command, Lieutenant General Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, has been designated as chief coordinator of NCOC,” ISPR said in a statement as Pakistan prepares to fight the pandemic.

Balochistan reported six new cases with Sindh reporting one more death with 33 new cases detected with Karachi most affected.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that twenty-one per cent of those hit by the virus have recovered numbering 82.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's minister for planning and development Asad Umar said that restrictions in the country will continue to be in place till at least April 14.

According to India's health ministry, 41 people have died due to COVID-19 in the country with 437 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

In Telangana, thirty new COVID-19 positive cases and three deaths were reported.

" The death toll in the state has risen to nine, all the deceased had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi," the Telangana chief minister's office informed.

"Thirty-six people who had who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi have been identified and quarantined", chief medical health officer in Rajashtan informed.

Nine more cases of COVID-19 were reported in Rajasthan with seven in Ramganj, and one each from Jodhpur and&nbsp;Jhunjhunu. There are now 129 coronavirus positive cases in the state.

In Madhya Pradesh, twelve new COVID-19 cases were reported in Indore, taking the total number of cases to 75 in the city. The confirmed total number of cases in the state has risen to 98.
