<p>The move was declared by PM Netanyahu under emergency regulations after a parliamentary committee had earlier refused to give it final approval.</p>

<p>The PM's decision was challenged by Rights groups even as the country's top court ordered parliament to create an oversight committee to consider whether to authorise digital surveillance.</p>

<p>The Knesset panel approved the decision allowing "Shin Bet to help in efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus for a month" until April 30, parliament's foreign affairs and defence committee said in a statement.</p>

<p>The Blue and White party of Benny Gantz had earlier denounced the measure as "a dangerous decision" taken without parliamentary oversight.</p>

<p>Isreal has 5,385 cases of coronavirus in the country with twenty deaths so far. The number of confirmed infections has been rising fast in the country.</p>

<p>The COVID-19 crisis was exacerbated after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was put under precautionary quarantine on Monday. Netanyahu's office stressed that quarantine was strictly a precaution.</p>

<p>A 13-year-old boy was among the casualty who died at King's College Hospital in London. The boy is believed to be Britain's youngest person to have died from the COVID-19 epidemic.</p>

<p>Britain had earlier recorded 260 deaths on Saturday with the toll dropping to 180 on Monday.</p>

<p>Authorities in Scotland said 60 people had died as of Tuesday while Wales reported 69 deaths due to the virus. In Northern Ireland, the death toll was 28 due to COVID-19.</p>

<p>There are 25,481 confirmed cases of the virus, according to Johns Hopkins coronavirus resource centre.</p>

<p>According to the UK's health ministry, 1,789 people have died due to the virus in the country.</p>

<p>The Boris Johnson government had ordered a three-week lockdown to reduce stress on the National Health Service(NHS) which has faced the brunt of the virus with doctors and nurses scampering to treat patients, as several complained of being overwhelmed.</p>

<p>Stephen Powis, medical director for the NHS in England said despite the fatalities there were "green shoots" since the rate of infections was slowing.</p>

<p>"It's really important not to read too much into this. It's early days. We're not out of the woods," Powis added, while informing that," it's really important that we keep complying with those (social distancing) instructions."<br />

<p>Sri Lanka on Tuesday reported the highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases in the country with 21 new cases taking the number of confirmed cases to 143.</p>

<p>At least 173 are under observation at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases(IDH) with the country under curfew. Several people have been arrested for violation of curfew, according to reports.</p>

<p>Amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, a meeting an all-party meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday. PM Mahinda Rajapaksa had earlier held a metting with party leaders to devise ways to tackle the virus.</p>

<p>Reports said curfew in at least nineteen districts in the country will continue until further notice, although it was lifted for sometime on Wednesday but will be re-imposed till April 6.</p>

<p>An indefinite curfew is on in Jaffna, Kandy, Colombo, &nbsp;Puttalam, Gampaha and &nbsp;Kaluthra. The ban on foreign arrivals has been extended till April 7 to contain the spread of COVID-19.</p>

<p>The Commissioner-General of Prisons said 1,460 prisoners will be released due to coronavirus threat.<br />
