The team said it could be a "potential" lifesaver for patients. The findings come even as the US National Institutes of Health halted clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) had said earlier that testing of HCQ&nbsp;for COVID-19 patients had been halted after new data showed no benefit. The US Food and Drug Administration(FDA) had also stopped the emergency use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 patients.

The drug has been widely touted by US President Trump as a cure for the virus. The US president had surprised officials of his own administration after he declared he had been administering the drug to combat the virus. Trump had called the HCQ a "game-changer".

UK also halted the drug trial terming it "useless" while treating COVID-19 patients. "This is not a treatment for COVID-19. It doesn't work," Martin Landray, an Oxford University professor had said while informing the WHO about its conclusion.

After the WHO halted the clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine, the French government also banned the treatment.

Like Trump, Brazil President Bolsanaro has also lauded the use of hydroxychloroquine even though the US FDA has had cautioned against possible side effects of the drug. Brazil now has the second-highest coronavirus cases after the United States with the death toll climbing to over 60,000.

The research found that people in the higher income bracket were happier although it found no evidence that "happiness" fades after an income level.

The study concluded that the decreasing ability to pay for higher education, rising inequality and rising real estate prices has had a direct impact&nbsp;on income and happiness.

The Emotion study has been underway since 1972 under the title: expanding class divide in happiness in the United States. It is one of the longest-running surveys in the United States which has studied the behaviour of over 44,000 participants from 1972 to 2016.

Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in the United States, US President Donald Trump said that he would wear a mask&nbsp;if he was in a "tight situation with people".

The US president has consistently avoided wearing masks in public places including at&nbsp;the rally at Okhalama which riled critics.

Trump while speaking to US television channel said, "I'm all for masks - I think masks are good," he said," adding, "If I were in a tight situation with people I would, absolutely."

However, Trump said he wouldn't make it mandatory for people across the United States to wear masks.&nbsp;

"You have many places in the country where people stay at a very long distance from each other," the US president contested.

The President once again reiterated that coronavirus would one day "disappear", saying: "I think we are going to be very good with the coronavirus. I think that, at some point, that's going to sort of just disappear, I hope."

"Yes, sure, at some point. And I think we're going to have a vaccine very soon too," the US president asserted.

Trump had said back in February that the virus will disappear when it had just begun to take hold in the United States.

The Trump administration is now actively asking Americans to wear masks amid rising COVID-19 cases. US Vice President Mike Pence wore a mask during his visit to Texas which has been hit hard due to the virus.
