UNSC members Britain, France and Germany have however contested the US sanctions and informed the UN body that they favour sanctions relief for Iran. Amid the sanctions row over Iran, the differences between the United States and United Nations Security Council(UNSC) members Britain, France and Germany have come out in the open as US officials said that "UN sanctions against Iran will come back into place this weekend." UNSC members Britain, France and Germany have however contested the US sanctions and informed the UN body that they favour sanctions relief for Iran. The Trump administration had pulled out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, however, the US insists it is still a participant since its name is still listed. US secretary of state Mike Pompeo had last month triggered the 30-day process at the UNSC to enforce UN sanctions on Iran. However, 13 members of the Security Council say the Trump administration's move is void as it is no longer part of the nuclear deal. The US government had introduced the "snapback," which aims to re-establish all sanctions against Iran on August 20. Earlier last month, the Trump administration had moved to extend arms embargo on Iran at the UNSC but had suffered a defeat. Pompeo hit back at US allies saying they were "siding with Iran's Ayatollahs." Pompeo had asserted that the US would "do all the things we need to do to make sure that those sanctions are enforced." "We are going to act in a way -- and we have acted in a way -- that will prevent Iran from being able to purchase Chinese tanks and Russian air defence systems," he said, adding, "We expect every nation to comply with UN Security Council resolutions - period, full stop."

Nepal on Friday started the trial of its&nbsp;first broad-gauge railway service after&nbsp;procuring railway engines, coaches from India.

After reamining halted for a period of six years because of a lack of upgrade,&nbsp;the previous narrow-gauge, now a broad gauge is expected to come into operation after Dashain-Tihar.

With its operation, the first trans-border railway connection between India and Nepal&nbsp;will be established&nbsp;again.

The Konkan Railways on Friday said that it delivered two DEMU train sets, designed and developed by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, to Nepal Railways.

"Konkan Railway is happy and privileged to deliver two modern DEMU train sets to Nepal Railways today," it said in a statement. 
 
The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd had signed a contract agreement on May 10 last year with Nepal`s Department of Railways for supply of two 1600HP DEMU train sets.

Nepal's railway department has procured the rail engines and coaches from Kokan India for 84 crore 65 lakh&nbsp;Nepali rupees&nbsp;operated using diesel and electricity, each set has 5 bogies (coaches). Out of them one is an AC coach while three are general bogies.

One of the set's engine has been designed with the capacity to accommodate passengers. Combining the 5 bogies, it bears the capacity of 1300&nbsp;passengers at a time.

It would revive the earlier Janakpur-Jaynagar railways connection between India and Nepal. Further work of extending railways track from Kurtha to Bijalapur of Mahottari measuring 17 Kilometers is underway.

The 34-km-long Jayanagar-Kurtha Railway Link has been built by IRCON with a financial grant from the Indian government under the India-Nepal Development Partnership programme.

The railway is likely to come into operation after Dashain and Tihar festivals.

India has allowed the export of around 25,000 tonnes of onions to Bangladesh on an emergency basis even as its export ban comes into effect. A source of High Commission of Bangladesh in New Delhi and High Commission of India in Dhaka confirmed the development.

An Indian government source said, "India has allowed export of around 25,000 MT of onions to Bangladesh which is already under transit/ processed for exports." adding, it is a "special gesture to our close friend".

India had announced onion export ban earlier this month. It majorly impacts neighbourhood and particularly Bangladesh. Around 250 trucks of onions have been stuck on various roads in India waiting to enter Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, a source of in the ministry of foreign affairs of Bangladesh MOFA told WION that Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran on Friday informed foreign minister AK Abdul Momen about India's permission to export onions to Bangladesh.

Kolkata has 20089.31MT of onions already approved for exports before the ban was announced. It is the largest in any port/area of the country followed by Mumbai, Trichy and Nagpur.

Bangladesh had earlier raised the onion crisis with the Indian government after the ban was announced.

Meanwhile, Nice in France has banned gatherings of more than 10 people in public spaces with restrictions placed on bar opening hours which was introduced earlier this week in Marseille and Bordeaux. Denmark has taken similar measures limiting gatherings from 50 people from 100 and ordered bars and restaurants to close early.

Iceland has ordered entertainment venues and pubs in capital Reykjavík to close for four days between September 18-21 even as the Netherlands prepares new measures to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

The US plan&nbsp;involves barring citizens from downloading the Chinese-owned messaging app WeChat and video-sharing app TikTok from&nbsp;September 20.

“At the President’s direction, we have taken significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens’ personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of US&nbsp;laws and regulations,” Commerce department statement added.

Meanwhile, TikTok slammed the US move, saying: "We disagree with the decision from the Commerce Department," while adding that it was "disappointed" with the ban.&nbsp;

TikTok's parent company ByteDance has been in talks with Oracle and others to create a new company aiming to address the US administration's national security concerns.&nbsp;

US President Donald Trump had said earlier that he is "not prepared to sign off on anything", asserting,"it has to be 100 per cent as far as national security is concerned."

Microsoft had earlier expressed interest in buying TikTok's international operations, but Oracle has become the frontrunner for a deal with TikTok. However, &nbsp;media outlets said ByteDance would keep a majority stake in the company and Oracle a minority stake.
