Seven civilians have been killed in&nbsp;Kashmir valley in the last ten days. The Sikh leaders have decided that people of their community should not go to their workplaces till the situation normalises.&nbsp;

Two teachers were shot dead in a government school in Srinagar’s Eidgah area on Thursday.&nbsp;

Supinder Kaur, a resident of Alochi Bagh, Srinagar, and Deepak Chand, resident of Janipura, Jammu were shot from point-blank range. Both of them were severely injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital. However, they succumbed to their injuries. &nbsp;

DGP Dilbagh Singh, DG JK police said, “The innocent people who work for the society are being killed and targeted. We are sad about the incidents. We are investigating and have managed to get a lot of clues."

"We will soon be able to arrest the guilty," he added.

Earlier, on Tuesday, three civilians were killed in Kashmir Valley. The famous chemist M L Bindroo, the non-local vendor Virender Paswan and taxi driver Mohd Shafi were all shot in different incidents.

These attacks have led to fear among the minority community, including pandits and sikhs.

Sikh Leader Jagmohan Singh Rana said that the community leaders have directed all the government employees of their community to not go to work until the security situation changes.&nbsp;

''A local girl has been killed today in Kashmir. We have been living here for the last 30 years and have been a part and parcel of good and bad. But if this happens with us, we won't tolerate it," the leader said.

He added, "I fear that agencies will misuse this opportunity. However, the main responsibility lies with the majority community. Those responsible should be punished. We have appealed to all the young employees to stop going for&nbsp;work. This will be our way of protesting towards the government so that they punish the culprits.'' said Jagmohan Singh Rana, Sikh Leader.

The investigation is in progress and thr police will continue to work in order to come to a conclusion.&nbsp;

Political leaders have also condemned the incident.&nbsp;

''Jammu and Kashmir has been on the road to progress but some elements from Pakistan do not want peace and they have started targeting the minority communities, BJP leaders, and the policemen," said BJP leader Sofi Yousof.

He added, "They want to repeat the 90's here. There has been no stone-pelting, no civilian killing after the abrogation of article 370. Whoever has done this will be neutralised soon. It is also a security lapse and I have spoken to DG regarding the same.''

In the second incident, a non-local street hawker, who was identified as Virender Paswan, was shot dead at around 8.15 pm at Madina Chowk, Lal Bazaar area of Srinagar.&nbsp;He belonged to Bhagalpur, Bihar, and was currently residing at Alamgari Bazar, Zadibal.

As per the Jammu &amp; Kashmir Police release, the department has registered cases in these incidents. Investigation is in progress, and officers are establishing the full circumstances of these crimes. The respective areas have been cordoned, and search is going on for culprits.&nbsp;

Craftsmen like Shahnawaz Ahmad are making sure that this craft would not die. After completing his Graduation from Fine Arts School, Shahnawaz started experimenting with new designs. He not only started using calligraphy but also used Gold and Silver threads to make these Carpets.&nbsp;

“I am a graduate in fine arts and my whole family is into this craft. I thought of doing something different than routine designs. I started calligraphy art on carpets. The customers across the Gulf loved it. I made cultural paintings and people started liking it. I changed the trend and reaped a lot of benefits," says Shahnawaz.

He is also training his artisans in new techniques. He has held workshops in which artisans were taught calligraphy and how to use gold and silver threads to make designs.

"The workers needed some training and I also held a workshop for them. My father helped me a lot with this. &nbsp;The weavers didn’t take much time to learn the new techniques. I am getting a lot of orders after these new designs. If we do something different I am sure this art will grow more and more," said Shahanwaz&nbsp;

We take all the Kashmiri crafts and we do something innovative with them. We also work on the lifestyle of craftsmen so as to retain them. So the next generation craftsmen are attracted towards this industry. We need to upgrade our system to keep up with the world. Luxury brand include not only high-quality products, but also handmade products. The craft will not be enough, you need more dynamics to it," said Imaad Parvaiz&nbsp;

More than 126 professional golfers from India and abroad are participating in the tournament.&nbsp;

The government of Jammu and Kashmir is promoting the valley as the golfing destination since Kashmir's golf courses are considered to be the best in India.&nbsp;

''It's an international golf tournament which is being hosted by the Professional Golf Tour of India. It's a prestigious golf tournament. It's a very proud moment for us to host 126 professional golfers, one among them is Udaymane who represented the country at Olympics,"&nbsp;said Javaid Bakshi, Secretary of the&nbsp;golf course.&nbsp;"He was leading the pack yesterday.

An inspection team arrives before the players to check the golf course, Bakshi informed. "They have a course director who does all the planning. We are lucky and proud that Mr Sampat who is the tournament director has rated this golf course as one of the best in the world. It's a big feather in the cap of Union Territory. These golfers will go as ambassadors and promote Kashmir as a golfing destination,'' Bakshi added.

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has six golf courses in total. Out of these, three are in Srinagar, one in Pahalgam,&nbsp;one in Gulmarg and another one in Jammu. The Royal Spring Golf Course has 18 holes with three lakes, a club house and around 8.5km pathway for cart. The golf course is spread over 100 acres of land.&nbsp;

Samaniya has also become a champion of issues related to women. She hosts a show called Halla Bol, where she speaks to young achievers— mostly women—from north Kashmir.&nbsp;The station is fast becoming a voice for the people from the region.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I was always told by my teachers to take up radio jockeying, but I wasn’t keen. But then I got a call for the auditions one day, and finally got selected. And here I am, loving every bit of it. There was a girl recently who spoke about how she wasn’t allowed to study further after graduation and was made to sit at home. "'It's a nice initiative since we were fighting for it. It was a struggle for an art gallery by our senior artists. I think we have finally reached the goal. Now the government has done the inaugural&nbsp;show. I hope this will give a new dimension to Kashmir contemporary art. The people of the valley will be able to witness&nbsp;art. Till now, they were not aware because of the platform issue. Obviously when people will&nbsp;display the work, the new generation artists will come there and get inspired. The Jammu and Kashmir government with the help of the central&nbsp;government started work on this project three years ago. The Shergari Palace was built in 1772 when Afghan governor Jawansher Khan ruled Kashmir. It was later used by the Dogra rulers after which the complex was turned into erstwhile state Assembly and Legislative Council and also used as Administrative Secretariat.

'"We had submitted a DPR to the government of India for the financial assistance of around 137 crores for the whole complex. This will be the first kind of complex in Jammu and Kashmir that will become the cultural centre where we are going to display various artefacts which we are getting from SPS Museum and they will be displayed here in various buildings. So far, this building is concerned we have already converted the stone building into the art museum," said Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh, Deputy Director, Archives.

"We have paintings from various institutes. The work started in 2019 is still ongoing. We have restored it in its original glory. The khatamband ceiling&nbsp;was introduced in Kashmir with this building. The art was called mouj. We have displayed more than 150 paintings here. The artists can come here and we will provide the space for exhibitions. There will be an international art gallery."

Since there are no art galleries in the Kashmir valley, this centre has been getting a lot of response already. The entree has been kept free and anyone can visit it during 10 am-5 pm every day, barring Monday.&nbsp;

"The response&nbsp;is very good. People associated with art, as well as students, are coming to this place. We are getting a great response. We started it on August 15 and it's been going really well. The officers here have worked day and night on this. This is the first art museum in Kashmir. The private institutions are also coming here," said Ghulam Jeelani Malik, officer in the museum.&nbsp;

The government believes that this can become the hub of art and heritage in Kashmir.

Many houseboat owners were relieved to have the ATM nearby as they had to travel all the way to the main city, which is about 8.8 kilometres from Dal Lake, for withdrawing money. They also said that it would boost their business as the tourists can now stay at the houseboats without having to worry about travelling long distances&nbsp;to get cash.

''We are thankful to the State Bank of India. This is the first floating ATM in Jammu Kashmir. This will benefit the locals as well as the tourists coming to the valley. It could become a tourist attraction as it's a unique concept. The tourists who are living in different houseboats are also appreciating the step,'' Saqib Ibrahim, owner of a houseboat in Dal Lake, said.&nbsp;

Krishak Agritech has exported 20 MT of fresh apricots procured from more than 200 farmers of UT of Ladakh.&nbsp;

The value of this is around 30 Lakh rupees and also generating an avenue of employment for the locals.
