The White House briefing room has been transformed under President Donald Trump's administration, welcoming new media personnel such as podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators.
The move, spearheaded by the youngest Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, aims to provide representation to groups that have not previously had a presence in the briefing room.
At her first daily media briefing on Tuesday (Jan 28), Leavitt said, "Millions of Americans, particularly young people, have shifted away from traditional television and newspapers to consume news through podcasts, blogs, social media, and other independent platforms.&rdquo;

She said the seats along the wall at the front of the briefing room, traditionally reserved for White House press staff, will now be designated the "New Media Seat."

Leavitt encouraged independent journalists, social media influencers, and content creators to apply for White House press credentials through a new platform on <a href="http://whitehouse.gov/newmedia">whitehouse.gov/newmedia</a>.
Applications will be reviewed by Leavitt's team, and credentials will be granted to those who meet the criteria and pass the US Secret Service's security requirements.

&ldquo;After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons,&rdquo; Leavitt said, reading a statement by Trump during her first briefing.

<h2>Unclear explanation</h2>
The explanation did not clarify what research or other reasons were there for the drone sightings, many of which occurred near military bases.
Some leading politicians have also been sceptical of the official explanation for the drones. Last month, the then House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Mike McCaul (R-Texas) said that he believed many of them were &ldquo;spy drones&rdquo; from China.

&ldquo;My judgement based on my experience is that those that are over our military sites are adversarial and most likely are coming from the People&rsquo;s Republic of China,&rdquo; McCaul had said.
&ldquo;We&rsquo;re not getting answers and I think it&rsquo;s because our government does not know who is behind them and that is very disturbing to me.&rdquo;
Apart from New Jersey, the drones were also seen over New York City and other parts of the US, leading to a sense of hysteria among the people. However, the government agencies insisted they pose no threat.

A joint statement by the FBI, FAA, Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security said that &ldquo;we assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones.&rdquo;
<h2>Trump accused Biden of coverup</h2>
Trump, who was the president-elect at the time, had accused Biden and his aides of a coverup.&nbsp; Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government&rsquo;s knowledge. I don&rsquo;t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!".
He also said, &ldquo;Our military knows where they took off from &mdash; if it&rsquo;s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went, and for some reason they don&rsquo;t want to comment.&rdquo;

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday (Jan 28) said that he would allocate people to hold peace talks with Ukraine if Volodymyr Zelensky wants to take part in the negotiations, however, he ruled out the possibility of speaking directly to the Ukrainian leader, whom he labelled "illegitimate".
To this, Zelensky responded saying that Putin was "afraid" of negotiations. He further fired back at the Russian president accusing him of intentionally prolonging the nearly three-year conflict using "cynical tricks".
United States President Donald Trump, since taking his office for the second term on Jan 20, has pushed both the warring sides to end the fighting.&nbsp;
Trump has threatened sanctions on Russia stating that Ukraine is ready for the negotiation talks to broker a "deal".
"If (Zelensky) wants to participate in the negotiations, I will allocate people to take part," Putin said, calling the Ukrainian leader "illegitimate" because his presidential term expired during martial law.
"If there is a desire to negotiate and find a compromise, let anyone lead the negotiations there... Naturally, we will strive for what suits us, what corresponds to our interests," he added.
Zelensky expressed hope stating that there was a chance for "real peace," but accused Putin of thwarting efforts to end the conflict.&nbsp;
"Today, Putin once again confirmed that he is afraid of negotiations, afraid of strong leaders, and does everything possible to prolong the war," Zelensky wrote on X.
Zelensky has warned that Ukraine should not be excluded from any peace talks that take place between Russia and the United States, accusing Putin of wanting to "manipulate" Trump.

She said, &ldquo;I've been up here long enough right now I've been trying to remember what it's like to walk. I haven't walked. I haven't sat down. I haven't laid down. You don't have to. You can just close your eyes and float where you are right here,&rdquo; reported People Magazine.

Williams admitted that she didn&rsquo;t expect to be stuck in space for such a long time.

In a move to comply with US President Donald Trump's order, Google is set to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America on Google Maps in the US.
This comes after the Trump administration&rsquo;s Interior Department on Friday officially renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.&nbsp;
Following this, the Gulf of Mexico will soon be renamed the &ldquo;Gulf of America,&rdquo; and Alaska&rsquo;s Denali mountain will revert to its former name of Mount McKinley in the app.&nbsp;

The four-day week advocates believe that the five-day working pattern is a hangover from an earlier economic age. The foundation&rsquo;s campaign director, Joe Ryle, said that the &ldquo;9-5, five-day working week was invented 100 years ago and is no longer fit for purpose. We are long overdue an update.&rdquo;
He added that with &ldquo;50% more free time, a four-day week gives people the freedom to live happier, more fulfilling lives.&rdquo;

Another 22 companies in the consulting and management sector have also permanently offered four-day weeks to staff, according to The Guardian.
In total, 200 firms have solidified their commitment to shorter work weeks, which is a useful way of attracting and retaining employees and enhancing productivity over fewer hours, according to the supporters.&nbsp;
Currently, 59 of the total firms that have allowed a 4-day work week are London-based firms, which are leading the trend.&nbsp;

&ldquo;Beyond the hormonal and surgical medical interventions involved, adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual&rsquo;s sex conflicts with a soldier&rsquo;s commitment to an honourable, truthful and disciplined lifestyle, even in one&rsquo;s personal life," it said.&nbsp;
