"She's refusing to come to the evacuation centre because she believes the floods aren't going to be that bad, and she's seen heaps of floods before," Isis told the national broadcaster ABC.

Mexico fires back at US over cartel alliance accusation

Preliminary data from the mid-air collision between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines passenger plane in Washington showed conflicting readings of the altitudes of the two aircraft.
The deadliest US aviation disaster in nearly 25 years, which happened near Reagan National Airport, killed 67 people who were onboard the helicopter and plane.

The CRJ700 plane was at an altitude of 325 feet (91 meters), plus or minus 25 feet, when the Black Hawk crashed into it, according to the investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The information came to light after the black box of the aircraft was recovered, which records the flight data on various parameters including speed and movements.
The helicopter&rsquo;s black box data is yet to be recovered, as it became waterlogged after the aircraft plunged into the Potomac River. The investigators hope to resolve this difference in altitude using the data from Black Hawk.
&ldquo;That's what our job is, to figure that out,&rdquo; NTSB board member Todd Inman told reporters when asked about what may be the reason behind the discrepancy.
Inman also said that the training flight of the helicopter would usually include the use of night-vision goggles.
&ldquo;We do not know at this time if the night-vision goggles were actually being worn, nor what the setting may be,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Further investigation should be able to let us know if that occurred and what factor it may play in the overall accident.&rdquo;
The data also confirmed that the helicopter was informed about the CRJ700 about two minutes before the collision.&nbsp;
The jet&rsquo;s flight recorder also revealed the change in its height a second before the collision, which may suggest that the plane tried to avoid the crash. However, the investigators did not confirm this.

<h2>Helicopter was practicing secret mission</h2>
On Wednesday (Jan 29) night, the Black Hawk was conducting training to prepare for a catastrophic event or attack on the US.
The 12th Aviation Battalion crew, which was onboard the UH-60 Black Hawk chopper, is responsible for carrying out a secret evacuation of top officials in case of a national emergency like a nuclear or terrorist attack on the US, according to the New York Post.

During a press conference on Thursday (Jan 30), US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the personnel aboard the helicopter &ldquo;were on a routine, annual retraining of night flights on a standard corridor for a continuity of government mission.&rdquo;
He further said that he can&rsquo;t share details on &ldquo;anything that&rsquo;s classified.&rdquo;
The tragic incident has raised concerns over the army for allowing pilots to conduct training near a high-traffic airport in a helicopter that was not equipped with the latest technology that may have alerted the air traffic control about its route.

The US Army has identified the third soldier on Saturday (Feb 1) who died on the Black Hawk helicopter that crashed into an American Airlines passenger plane in Washington, claiming 67 lives.
The devastating mid-air collision between the passenger jet from Kansas and the military helicopter near Reagan National Airport, sent the aircraft plummeting into Washington's Potomac River on Wednesday (Jan 29).
The soldier, identified as Captain Rebecca Lobach of Durham, North Carolina, was one of the three-person crew aboard the Black Hawk and co-piloting the aircraft when it hit the plane.

<h2>Who was Captain Rebecca Lobach?</h2>
Captain Rebecca Lobach, 28, was one of the three soldier crew inside the UH-60 Black Hawk.
She served as an aviation officer (15A) in the regular Army since July 2019 and was assigned to the 12th Aviation Battalion, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
For her contributions to the US Army, she was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

A &ldquo;bright star&rdquo; in their lives, her family said that they were &ldquo;devastated by the loss of our beloved Rebecca.&rdquo; They described her as &ldquo;kind, generous, brilliant, funny, ambitious and strong.&rdquo;
&ldquo;No one dreamed bigger or worked harder to achieve her goals,&rdquo; her family added in the statement released by the US Army.

Lobach also served as a White House Military Social Aide and volunteered to support the President and First Lady in hosting several White House events, including ceremonies awarding the Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

"The investigation will continue, but we see no reason for the ship to remain in Tromso any longer," he added.

<h2>'Nothing wrong'</h2>
The ship's owner rejected any wrongdoing as Norwegian police searched the ship and questioned the all-Russian crew, following a seizure request from Latvia.
Jorgensen, the police prosecutor, had said a crew member was suspected of involvement in the cable damage, which he described as "aggravated vandalism".&nbsp;
The Silver Dania is owned by Norwegian shipping company Silver Sea, whose chief Tormod Fossmark told AFP that "We sailed near Gotland... but we did not cast anchor.
"We did nothing wrong," he added. "Norwegian authorities have brought us into port to clear us of any involvement."
The Russian embassy in Oslo had told AFP by email that none of the sailors had been placed under arrest nor had they contacted the embassy for assistance.
<h2>Bulgarian ship under investigation</h2>
On Sunday, the Swedish coastguard seized a Bulgarian ship, the Malta-flagged "Vezhen", off Sweden's southeastern coast in connection with the same cable incident.
Swedish prosecutors have opened an investigation into "aggravated sabotage", and images of the vessel published by Swedish media appeared to show that one of its anchors had a broken arm.
Alexander Kalchev, CEO of Navibulgar, the Bulgarian maritime shipping company that operates the Vezhen, denied any involvement.
"I am convinced that we cannot say... that this was a malicious act," he said.
But prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist told Swedish news agency TT on Friday that he was confident the Vezhen was involved.
"I think I can say, on very solid grounds, that it is this ship that has damaged the cable," he said.
"Our work is continuing... The ship is still seized and there are various investigative measures being taken, including technical examinations," he said.
The incident is the latest in a series affecting cables in the Baltic Sea amid heightened tensions between Russia and the West since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
Finland and Sweden, which both border the Baltic Sea, have dropped decades of military non-alignment to join NATO as concern about the region's security mounts.
Russia had warned both countries of repercussions if they joined the alliance.

In response, NATO launched in mid-January a Baltic Sea patrol mission to secure critical underwater infrastructure.
Frigates, maritime patrol aircraft, submarines and drones are involved in the Baltic Sentry patrols.

At a meeting in Cairo on Saturday, top diplomats from Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar also rejected any forcible displacement of Palestinians, according to a joint statement.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Saturday that the strikes by US Africa Command were directed by President Trump and coordinated with Somalia's government.
"Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed in the airstrikes and no civilians were harmed," Hegseth added.
"This action further degrades ISIS's ability to plot and conduct terrorist attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians and sends a clear signal that the United States always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the United States and our allies, even as we conduct robust border-protection and many other operations under President Trump's leadership," the statement from the defense secretary said.
The Pentagon's counterterrorism strategy in Africa has been strained as two key partners, Chad and Niger, ousted U.S. forces last year and took over key bases that the U.S. military had used to train and conduct missions against terrorist groups across the Sahel, the vast arid expanse south of the Sahara Desert.
As per the International Crisis Group, the number of ISIS militants in Somalia is likely to be in the hundreds, with most of them scattered in the Cal Miskaat mountains in Puntland's Bari region.
