The sudden success of ChatGPT was reported to have sparked tensions among the top leadership of OpenAI. As per the media reports, board members like one of the co-founders and AI researcher Ilya Sutskever grew increasingly worried about their technology posing potential dangers to society. 
 
The members also felt that Altman was not looking into these risks and was more concerned about growing the business of OpenAI. 
 
The rift in the boardroom culminated in a coup on November 18 as Altman was ousted. The board of directors of OpenAI had the power to decide the leadership of the company without any influence from its investors, which gave them the autonomy to kick out Altman. 
 
Sutskever along with other board members which included Adam D’Angelo (CEO of Q&amp;A forum Quora), Helen Toner (an AI safety researcher at Georgetown University), and Tasha McCauley (entrepreneur) sacked Altman, who was also a board member but lacked the majority needed for overturning the decision. 
 
President, co-founder of OpenAI and board member Greg Brockman, who was not a part of the decision-making process, also quit after Altman's dismissal.

The board stated that after a review they found that Altman was “not consistently candid in his communications” with the board. “The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI,” the artificial intelligence company said in a statement. 
 
The statement further said that the behaviour of the CEO was “hindering” the ability of the board to exercise its responsibilities.

<h2>How did Sam Altman return to OpenAI within five days?</h2>

Soon after Altman was fired, more than 500 of 770 employees of OpenAI signed an open letter which called for the resignation of the board. The board was accused in the letter of being “incapable of overseeing OpenAI”. 
 
“We are unable to work for or with people that lack competence, judgement and care for our mission and employees,” it added. The signatories threatened to resign and instead work for Altman and Microsoft's newly formed subsidiary. 
 
Meanwhile, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella extended support to Altman after his firing. The board members of OpenAI rejected any pressure to reverse the decision from Microsoft and other investors. 
 
On November 20, Nadella announced that both Altman and Brockman will be heading a new advanced AI research team at Microsoft. “We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners," announced Nadella.

The Qatari court will set a hearing date to re-examine the death penalty awarded to the Indian nationals, based on the appeal, according to an NDTV&nbsp;report, citing sources&nbsp;

The eight men were arrested in August last year by&nbsp;Qatar’s intelligence agency, based on spying allegations.&nbsp;They were all employees of the private firm Al Dahra and had their first trial in late March.&nbsp;

After the arrest, the eight men filed several bail petitions but all were rejected before the ultimate verdict was pronounced by the&nbsp;Court of First Instance in Qatar last month.&nbsp;

After the verdict, the Indian&nbsp;Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement saying it was shocked by the penalty handed to the men.&nbsp;

"We have initial information that the Court of First Instance of Qatar has today passed a judgement in the case involving eight Indian employees of Al Dahra company," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

"We are deeply shocked by the verdict of the death penalty and are awaiting the detailed judgement. We are in touch with the family members and the legal team, and we are exploring all legal options," it added.

However, on Thursday, MEA in a fresh statement said:&nbsp;“The judgment is confidential. There is a court of first instance that gave the judgment, which was shared with our legal team. Considering all legal options, an appeal has been filed. We are in touch with the Qatari authorities.”

When most Britons die without a traceable heir, their assets, money, and other property are given to the Treasury, but if this report is to be believed, the royal family collects the financial assets of others, if they lived in specific areas linked to the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall.&nbsp;

The Guardian says that after seeing and analysing internal duchy documents it found that only a small percentage of these revenues is being given to charity.&nbsp;

The newspaper has based its report on cases of several individuals whose life savings have been used to upgrade King's private property.

The report said that the duchy inherits bona vacantia monies from people whose last known address was in a territory known as Lancashire County Palatine and administered by a duke in the Middle Ages. The renovations include upgrades including new roofs, double-glazing windows, boiler installations and replacements of doors and lintels, the newspaper said in the report. &nbsp;

As quoted by The Times, a spokeswoman from the Duchy of Lancaster said: "It is a long-standing principle of UK law that property or goods cannot remain 'ownerless'. Responsibility for such assets, referred to as bona vacantia, is transferred to HM Treasury and in the County Palatine revert to the Duchy of Lancaster."&nbsp;

"From monies received as a result of bona vacantia, the Duchy of Lancaster makes an allocation to the late claims fund to ensure that any claims received up to 30 years following the administration of an estate can be met. The cost of administering bona vacantia and any costs associated with the upkeep of public buildings and those of architectural importance is also deducted," she added.&nbsp;

She further stated that the balance is allocated between three charities set up by the late Queen and they support local community initiatives. Biden also spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and assured him his country's support in securing the release of all the remaining hostages.

"The President further emphasized the importance of maintaining calm along the Lebanese border as well as in the West Bank," the White House said.

The civil suit claims that the plaintiff "was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York".

In the filing, the accuser, whose identity has not been revealed, is seeking a trial and at least $5 million in relief, reported news agency AFP citing The Messenger.

Adams has "vigorously" denied the accusation saying that he does not even remember meeting the plaintiff and that he wouldn't ever do anything to cause anyone physical harm.

"The mayor does not know who this person is. If they ever met, he doesn't recall it," a City hall spokesperson said in a statement.

"But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim."

The suit was submitted under the New York Adult Survivors Act, a law that was passed last year and opened a one-year window for sexual assault claims to be filed, which otherwise happened too far in the past to sue. The window expires on Friday.

Former police officer Adams took office in January 2022 as New York's second Black mayor in the history of the United States.

The civil case was filed on Wednesday (November 22). It calls for Rose to face a jury trial and award the victim "punitive damages".

A bus was set ablaze as protesters clashed with the riot police in Dublin on Thursday evening (Nov 23) after a stabbing incident in the capital city wounded five people, including three children.

In the aftermath, public transport was suspended in the city and the people were advised not to travel to a nearby hospital until absolutely necessary.

A double-decker bus was put on fire in front of the Daniel O'Connell statue at the head of the street, windows were smashed at a nearby Holiday Inn hotel and McDonald's restaurant. &nbsp;A Footlocker store was also looted, as per news agency Reuters.

"They are disgraceful scenes. We have a complete lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology engaged in serious violence," Police Commissioner Drew Harris told reporters after deploying 400 officers to restore public order.

A police car was also burnt in the violent clashes.

Harris said all lines of inquiry related to the attack remained open, contrary to a senior officer who had ruled out terrorism.

A group of approximately 50 anti-immigrant protesters tore through a police barrier shouting "get them out".

A larger crowd then started pelting objects and releasing fireworks at riot police in helmets and shields.

"Every force possible is being used by the Gardai (police) to restore order. This will not be tolerated."

On Thursday, a five-year-old girl was seriously wounded in a stabbing incident in Parnell Square East, north central Dublin.
