Taiwan’s ageing problem is a crisis-in-making, and to ward off its impacts on its strong economy, Indian workers might play a huge role.

So, any such arrangement will only help both sides. It will help India rein in the rising domestic unemployment levels, while also ramping up the potential of increased foreign remittances. For Taiwan, Indian workers can prove to be crucial to help it shore up its $790 billion economy.

This is in line with Taiwan’s Southbound Policy, which has pushed the country’s firms to develop relations with India&nbsp;in order to find alternative markets for China.

"The message that I bring you today, Mr President, is that the United States of America is with you, we will remain with you for the long haul," Austin told Zelensky as he paid a visit to Kyiv to reassure Ukraine on US support in its fight against Russia.

In a statement, the Pentagon said that Austin visited Ukraine to meet "with Ukrainian leaders and reinforce the staunch support of the United States for Ukraine's fight for freedom."

"He will also underscore the continued US commitment to providing Ukraine with the security assistance it needs to defend itself from Russian aggression," the statement added. This was Austin's second trip to Ukraine since Russia launched an offensive last year.

However, hardline Republican lawmakers have opposed this assistance.

Till now, the US has been the biggest donor of military assistance to Kyiv, and a cut to American aid would be a major blow to Ukraine as it is preparing for the second winter of the war.

Last month, Austin and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged lawmakers to sustain support for Ukraine, with the US defence chief said that without Washington's support, Russian President Vladimir Putin would be successful.&nbsp;

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday (Nov 20) that Washington's support for Kyiv was for the long haul. "The message that I bring you today, Mr President, is that the United States of America is with you, we will remain with you for the long haul," Austin told Zelensky as he paid a visit to Kyiv to reassure Ukraine on US support in its fight against Russia. In a statement, the Pentagon said that Austin visited Ukraine to meet "with Ukrainian leaders and reinforce the staunch support of the United States for Ukraine's fight for freedom." "He will also underscore the continued US commitment to providing Ukraine with the security assistance it needs to defend itself from Russian aggression," the statement added. This was Austin's second trip to Ukraine since Russia launched an offensive last year. Since the beginning of the conflict, the US has provided tens of billions of dollars in security aid for Ukraine and repeatedly pledged to back Kyiv for "as long as it takes." However, hardline Republican lawmakers have opposed this assistance. Till now, the US has been the biggest donor of military assistance to Kyiv, and a cut to American aid would be a major blow to Ukraine as it is preparing for the second winter of the war. Last month, Austin and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged lawmakers to sustain support for Ukraine, with the US defence chief said that without Washington's support, Russian President Vladimir Putin would be successful. The incident took place on Thursday at 11 am (local time) when she was out at Walmart Store in Southern Ohio for shopping.

The woman, whose name wasn’t revealed, told the Waverly Police Department that&nbsp;her two-year-old boy took her Taurus 9mm firearm from her purse, and it went off.

Fortunately, none of the bullets hit the ceiling of the store, and the child was left with a minor injury to his forehead “due to contact with the magazine,” police said.

In recent years, India has emerged as a key partner for Australia and Canberra seeks to diversify its strategic partnerships beyond its traditional reliance on China. The addition of a sporting warmth into the equation often reflects in the close-door talks between the leaders and their summation which is published in the joint statements.&nbsp;

In May 2023, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Australia, an official readout from PM Modi referred to his sixth visit to Australia as a sign of "the depth in our comprehensive relations, the convergence in our views and the maturity of our ties."&nbsp;

"If I may say in the language of cricket, our ties have entered the T-20 mode," Modi said while referring to the quickest format of the game, implying the way India-Australia ties appear to have surpassed "this depends on time" diplomatic catchphrase.&nbsp;

The two countries will now also hold India-Australia summit annually, the first of which was held in March earlier this year.&nbsp;

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Monday made a strong pitch for "deeper conversations" between New Delhi and Washington on a regulatory framework for artificial intelligence, saying it could be an example of a "multiplicative relationship" between the two democracies.

In an interactive session organised by the Observer Research Foundation, Garcetti stressed the need to "get in front" of artificial intelligence (AI) to avoid facing catastrophic consequences.

He made it clear that while there had been deep conversations on the issue with India, there was no formal proposal yet from either side.

Garcetti noted that US President Joe Biden had spoken strongly on the issue.

Last month, President Biden issued an executive order that required AI manufacturers to provide the federal government with an assessment of their applications' vulnerability to cyberattacks, the data used to train and test the AI and its performance measurements.

"If we don't get in front of AI, the consequences, even if it is a small percentage of likelihood, of something catastrophic happening with our official intelligence could be sooner than we believe,"&nbsp;Garcetti said.

On the India-US 2+2 dialogue last week, Garcetti said the two sides took important steps towards strengthening the major defence partnership which continues to grow and increasing the acceleration seen through initiatives such as the US-India roadmap in industrial cooperation and defence.

He stressed that New Delhi and Washington should deepen their Artificial Intelligence (AI) conversation.

He pitched for India-US collaboration and cooperation in emerging domains.

"...we sometimes just focus on weapons and what is being sold, or potentially co-developed, but the operational level of our militaries...is as critical as any equipment," he said.
