Parts of Kiev lost power, high-voltage wires were broken, and individuals were buried beneath debris, said Zelensky.

According to Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, 13 people were injured in Kyiv, including a pregnant woman. Apartment buildings caught fire in multiple Kyiv districts.

Oleksandr Senkevich, the mayor of Mykolaiv, said one man was killed in the attack, which also damaged the port city's water and gas pipelines and stripped the roofs of twenty dwellings.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor of Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, a 52-year-old woman was mildly hurt in an S-300 missile attack.

The attacks in Kyiv sent Josep Borrell, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, into an air raid shelter in his hotel, the AFP news agency reported.

The multi-billion dollar Nord Stream pipelines transporting Russian gas to Germany under the Baltic Sea were ruptured by a series of blasts in the Swedish and Danish economic zones in September 2022, releasing vast amounts of methane into the air.

Danish police have said the pipelines were hit by powerful explosions and Swedish investigators have confirmed that traces of explosives found on site conclusively showed that sabotage had taken place.

Sweden, Denmark and Germany launched separate investigations into the Nord Stream blasts, each tightly controlling information. The Danish and German probes are still ongoing.

"Within the framework of this legal cooperation, we have been able to hand over material that can be used as evidence in the German investigation," the Swedish prosecution authority said.

Following an extensive investigation, the Swedish prosecutors concluded that nothing had emerged to indicate that Sweden or Swedish citizens were involved in the attack which took place "in international waters".

"Against the background of the situation we now have, we can state that Swedish jurisdiction does not apply," Public Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said in a statement.

Russia has blamed the United States, Britain, and Ukraine for the blasts which largely cut it off from the lucrative European market. Those countries have denied involvement.

If no conclusive evidence is found by either of the remaining investigations, the mystery behind one of the most significant acts of infrastructure sabotage in modern history could remain unsolved.

According to reports, Milei's&nbsp;La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party, which controls only a small number of seats in the Congress, pulled the bill and&nbsp;obtained the adjournment of the session.

The move was necessitated after&nbsp;opposition lawmakers went on a rejection spree, culling several crucial proposals at an article-by-article vote.&nbsp;

After the setback, LLA said it would send the bill back to committees for further debate.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Oscar Zago, leader of the ruling party faction called out the governors for their betrayals.&nbsp;

“Betrayal will be costly and [LLA] will not allow the governors to extort the people to maintain their privileges,” the coalition wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).&nbsp;

Notably, the opposition towards the bill continued even as the LLA dramatically scaled back on its previous version - removing&nbsp;more than two-thirds of its original 664 articles, to win over centrist lawmakers.

Despite the omissions, the new bill still included measures such as giving the nod to privatise two dozen state companies,&nbsp;strengthening penalties for road-blocking protests and relaxing some environmental protections.

After the setback, Milei, who is currently on a trip to Israel, issued a fiery response.&nbsp;

"Our government program was voted by 56 per cent of Argentines and we are not willing to negotiate it with those who destroyed the country," Milei posted.

"We know that it will not be easy to change a system in which politicians have enriched themselves at the expense of Argentines,"&nbsp;he added.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said Tuesday (Feb 6) they attacked two more ships in the Red Sea, causing damage to both of them. The US military’s Central Command also confirmed the missile attacks on Star Nasia and Morning Tide, the two vessels.

“Three of the Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles (ASBMs) were attempting to hit MV Star Nasia, a Marshall Island-flagged, Greek owned-and-operated bulk carrier transiting the Gulf of Aden,” the command said in an X post. The ship reported minor damage caused by a nearby explosion; however, the crew remained safe.

“The remaining three ASBMs were likely targeting MV Morning Tide, a Barbados-flagged, UK-owned cargo ship operating in the Southern Red Sea. The three missiles impacted the water near the ship without effect,” the command added.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said the Greek-owned Star Nasia was en route to India from US and was carrying coal.

Chilean ex-President Sebastian Pinera died in a helicopter crash on Tuesday, sending the country he led for two terms into mourning and prompting an outpouring of condolences from leaders across Latin America.

The helicopter carrying Pinera, 74, and three others plunged into a lake in southern Chile. The former president was pronounced dead shortly after rescue personnel arrived at the scene. The other three passengers survived.

Pinera often spent the Southern Hemisphere summers near the picturesque lakes that dot Chile's south, and frequently piloted his own helicopter.

President Gabriel Boric declared three days of national mourning, while preparations have begun for a state funeral on Friday for the former leader, who served two non-consecutive terms between 2010 and 2022.

Former Argentine President Mauricio Macri expressed his sadness at the news of Pinera's death. "He was a good person, committed like no one else to Chile and to the values of freedom and democracy in Latin America," he said.

The son of a prominent centrist politician, Pinera was a Harvard-trained economist who made his fortune introducing credit cards to Chile in the 1980s.
