An Indian-American&nbsp;student, who was completing his doctorate in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, was found dead in a nature preserve on Monday evening (Feb 5), reported the Warren County Coroner’s office.

The 23-year-old student, identified as Sameer Kamath, had US citizenship and had completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in August 2023 from Purdue University, confirmed the coroner’s office.

He is the second&nbsp;Indian-American student from&nbsp;Purdue University who died under mysterious circumstances in the last few weeks, after&nbsp;Neel Acharya.&nbsp;

Kamath's body was found at the Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve around 5 pm (local time) on Monday (Feb 5). Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve is part of the Niches Land Trust which is located at 3300 North Warren County Road 50 West, in Williamsport.

A press release regarding the death of the Indian-American student was released by Warren County Coroner Justin Brummett on Tuesday afternoon (Feb 6).

Kamath received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and enrolled at Purdue in 2021.

As per his LinkedIn profile, he was set to graduate from the doctoral programme in 2025.&nbsp;

The new death comes in the wake of Indian or Indian-origin students in the US facing increasing attacks in the United States.

Indian student Syed Mazahir Ali's video surfaced on Wednesday (Feb 7) in which he was seen bleeding profusely and desperately pleading for help in Chicago after getting attacked by robbers.

This was the fourth such case to have emerged in recent days. Another 19-year-old student, Shreyas Reddy Beniger, who held an American passport, was found dead last week. The authorities ruled out any foul play.

She will be remembered especially for founding and setting up the Memorial Gates in central London dedicated to the memory of non-white soldiers from the Commonwealth who fought in the two great wars,"&nbsp;it notes.

Lord Karan Bilimoria, Chair of the Memorial Gates Council, expressed his sadness at the passing away of Baroness Flather the "driving force" behind the memorial and someone he knew for 30 years for breaking "one glass ceiling after another."

"I will always be grateful to her as she was the person who brought me into Parliament for the first time when she started an initiative called Asian Link', which brought in young Asians to events she organised with Cabinet ministers speaking, at the House of Lords," shared Bilimoria in his tribute.

"She was a unique personality and a force of nature. Shreela was always proud of being Indian and Asian. She was an inspiration to me and to so many and paved the way for so many of us. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her,"&nbsp;he said.

Baroness Flather addressed a gathering of war veterans and diplomats annually at the gates opened in 2022 to mark Commonwealth Day in March.

As many as six people were killed while 31 were injured in a rain-induced landslide&nbsp;in a gold-mining village, situated in the mountainous region of&nbsp;the southern Philippines, informed officials on&nbsp;Wednesday (Feb 7).&nbsp;

The landslide happened on Tuesday night outside a gold mining site in the town of&nbsp;Maco in the province of Davao de Oro. Two buses were buried in the landslide as they were picking up employees, according to mining operator Apex Mining.&nbsp;

At least 28 people were in the two buses when the tragedy struck, provincial disaster official Edward Macapili told AFP.&nbsp;

"There was no sign that a landslide would occur because the rains stopped on Thursday and by Friday it was already sunny and hot," said&nbsp;Macapili.

The rescue operation started last evening but had to be halted due to poor visibility.&nbsp;

"Rescue work is hampered by limited visibility and intermittent slides," Apex Mining said.&nbsp;

This comes almost a days after Buckingham Palace announced that the British monarch has been diagnosed with cancer and will postpone public-facing duties while undergoing treatment.&nbsp;

The palace didn't clarify whether or not it was prostate cancer. In the statement released by the palace, the type of cancer has not been revealed, but it noted that the King began "regular treatments" on Monday.&nbsp;

The statement read: "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. Yemen's internationally-recognised government Monday (Feb 5) named foreign minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as the new prime minister in a surprise appointment that analysts say will likely anger the country's Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

Bin Mubarak replaces Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed at a time of rising tensions in the Arabian Peninsula's poorest country following a spate of Red Sea attacks by Houthi rebels which have prompted retaliatory strikes by the United States and Britain.

A decree issued by Yemen's presidential council and carried by the official Saba news agency announced bin Mubarak's appointment as premier and assigned the outgoing prime minister to the post of presidential advisor.

It did not give a reason for the move.

Bin Mubarak, Yemen's former ambassador to the US, is widely seen as a staunch adversary of the Houthi rebels, who abducted him in 2015 and held him captive for several days.

He previously served as chief of staff of Yemen's presidential office and was also appointed as the country's envoy to the United Nations in 2018.

Mohammed Al-Basha, a Yemen expert for the US-based Navanti research group, said bin Mubarak is seen as one of the "architects of the Saudi-led coalition" that intervened against Houthis in 2015 to prop up the internationally-recognised government, a year after the rebels captured the capital Sanaa.

"The Houthis are unlikely to embrace the appointment of bin Mubarak," he said, adding that bin Mubarak is a long-time adversary of the group.

Amid biting US sanctions, the new facility is expected to help in conducting&nbsp;fuel and nuclear material tests as well as the production of industrial radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals.&nbsp;

The announcement comes days after Tehran announced it was constructing a nuclear power plant complex in the south.&nbsp;

Eslami said last week the construction of the nuclear power plant complex would comprise four individual plants with a combined production capacity of 5,000 megawatts.

Notably, only the US, France, China, Russia and South Korea have&nbsp;more than 20,000 megawatts of nuclear capacity installed.

This figure, of 32 dead hostages, as per the report, is higher than any number previously disclosed by the Israeli authorities. In a comment to the publication, the Israeli military disclosed that most of the dead were killed on Oct 7 itself.
