Trump said, "Turkey had agreed to no-military action" and the US would not impose any sanctions on Turkey.
The Turkish military has decided to pause for five days.
US said the two countries were committed to defeating the Islamic State.
Earlier White House had said that Trump may revoke the invitation to host Erdogan depending on Ankara talks.
The development has come after US Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Turkey seeking to secure a ceasefire in the Turkish invasion of northern Syria.
Turkey and its Syrian proxies launched a broad assault on Kurdish-controlled areas on October 9, after US troops pulled back from the border and started withdrawing from the northeast altogether.
Turkey's week-old offensive against Kurdish-controlled areas of northeastern Syria has displaced more than 300,000 people, a war monitor stated.
