Ella Emhoff, Kamala Harris's 25-year-old stepdaughter on Saturday (Nov 9), slammed rumours about her having a mental breakdown after pictures of her being visibly upset during her stepmother's concession speech on November 6 went viral.
Rumours swirling since Harris' concession speech suggested that Ella had been admitted to a hospital following the election loss.
Ella Emhoff, shutting down the rumours on Instagram, wrote,“There’s a rumour about me having a mental breakdown and getting checked into a hospital. Not true.”
“Also f**k you if you’re out there spreading that. There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is, probably needs a good cry,” she added in an Instagram story.

Emhoff acknowledged her mental health struggles and said, “I’ve struggled with my mental health my whole life and I’m not ashamed of it.”
“I've literally just been playing fetch with Jerry,” she added in the story that featured a picture of her holding a blue ball with a dog at her feet.
Previously in another post on her Substack 'Soft Pins,' she stressed that showing emotion is normal and healthy, especially in tough times.
Recounting her feelings in the aftermath of election day, she wrote: “Ooof… What. A. Week”.

“I feel like we all need this extra this week. I know we are all feeling a lot of emotions right now. That’s normal, and it would be weird if we weren’t. I know I’ve gone through about 10 cycles of sadness, rage, and stress—and that was just this morning.”
She advised her followers to let their emotions out so they don’t build up inside.

In a message to her followers on social media, she reassured them, “We are all going to get through this. It just f***ing hurts like a b***h right now and that’s ok.”
Throughout the election campaign, Emhoff was an active supporter of Harris, often seen at rallies and posting her thoughts online.
