JWST Captures Staggering Structure in 19 Spiral Galaxies. Images Revealed

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has captured breathtaking images of 19 nearby spiral galaxies. Near- and mid-infrared images show off every facet of these face-on spiral galaxies.

Webb’s NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) captured millions of stars in these images, which sparkle in blue tones. Some stars are spread throughout the spiral arms, but others are clumped tightly together in star clusters.

These 19 images are part of a large, long-standing project, the Physics at High Angular Resolution in Nearby GalaxieS (PHANGS) programme, which is supported by more than 150 astronomers worldwide.

Janice Lee, project scientist for strategic initiatives at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, said news images of the nearby galaxies were extraordinary. “They’re mind-blowing even for researchers who have studied these same galaxies for decades. Bubbles and filaments are resolved down to the smallest scales ever observed, and tell a story about the star formation cycle,” Lee said.

Budget 2024: Evolution of 'Jai Jawan' Slogan Over The Decades

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her sixth budget in a row, at par with former Prime Minister Morarji Desai who also held finance portfolio in the 1960s. She also repeated a new dimension to the famous Jai Jawan slogan.

The slogan 'Jai Jawan' (Hail the soldier) first came into vogue in the early 1960s. Its first usage could not be known. However sociologists say that the slogan became a nation unifier immediately after the 1962 India-China war.

The second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri first gave the slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” (Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer) in the year 1965 at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. The slogan unified the spirit of an 18-year-old independent India and became a clarion call of the Green Revolution alongside emphasis on soldier welfare in the wake of the 1962 and 1965 wars with China and Pakistan.

After the Pokhran tests in 1998, then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee added Jai Vigyan (Hail Science) to the slogan to underline the importance of science in India's progress.

Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan

On Feb 1, Sitharaman emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added anushandhan [Research] to independent India's convention of mass support for soldiers, farmers, and science. The slogan now stands transformed as “Jai Jawan, jai kisan, jai vigyaan, jai anusandhan [research]”.

Finance Minister Sitharaman repeated a new dimension to the famous Jai Jawan slogan.

Recognising signs of dehydration is crucial for maintaining good health. Here are five common signs that your body may be dehydrated:

Dark yellow or amber-coloured urine is often an early indicator of dehydration. When adequately hydrated, urine is usually light yellow.

Thirst is a straightforward signal that your body needs more fluids. If you’re feeling thirsty consistently, it’s a clear indication that you should drink water to replenish lost fluids.

Dehydration can lead to a dry mouth and a dry, sticky feeling in the oral cavity. Dryness of skin is also a signal for you to drink water.

Dehydration can cause a decrease in blood volume, leading to reduced oxygen supply to muscles and organs. This can result in feelings of fatigue, weakness, and dizziness. Severe dehydration may even lead to fainting.

Inadequate hydration can contribute to headaches and difficulty in concentrating. The brain is highly sensitive to changes in fluid balance, and dehydration affects cognitive function, concentration, and overall mental alertness.
