Iran has named Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, after a decision by the Assembly of Experts. Soon after the announcement, Iran launched a fresh barrage of missiles toward Israel, escalating the ongoing Israel–Iran conflict.
