US-Iran War: Iran Seeks To Move World Cup Matches From US, Urges FIFA For Change | WION

Iran has called on FIFA to move its 2026 World Cup matches out of the United States, citing safety concerns amid escalating tensions with Washington.
Iran’s sports minister has proposed relocating the matches to co-host nation Mexico, arguing that the current political and security situation makes it risky for players to travel to and compete in the U.S.
The request follows remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting it may not be appropriate for Iran to play in the United States “for their own safety.”
Iran had originally been scheduled to play group-stage matches in U.S. cities, including Los Angeles and Seattle, as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
FIFA has not yet announced any decision on the request.
