American intelligence fears Russia is a significant competitor to the United States and in a major war can inflict significant damage using nuclear weapons. This was revealed by the National Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard in her testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the annual threat assessment of the U.S. intelligence community.
