Sudanese return home to a capital unready to welcome them

One year after the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) recaptured Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the reality for returnees is far from the promised restoration of normalcy. Out of the 5 million who fled, over 2 million have returned, driven back by economic collapse and crackdowns in neighboring countries like Egypt. However, they are arriving in a city that remains a shell of its former self.
