South Sudanese president appoints ministers in caretaker positions

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has dissolved the transitional unity government and appointed a caretaker administration ahead of elections scheduled for December 22. The move ends the power-sharing government established under the 2018 peace agreement and comes after changes to election laws cleared key hurdles to the long-delayed vote.
