In a historic first, double-humped Bactrian camels will march in India’s Republic Day parade. The rare breed, showcased by the Indian Army, is specially adapted to Ladakh’s extreme high-altitude and freezing desert conditions. Capable of carrying loads of up to 250 kilograms, these camels play a vital role in logistics and mobility in some of the harshest terrains in the world. The debut highlights India’s unique military capabilities and regional heritage.
