Niger soldiers announce coup and president’s removal on TV
Armed troops had earlier blockaded the presidential palace in Niamey, the capital of one of the world's most unstable countries, according to soldiers in Niger, who claim to have ousted President Mohamed Bazoum from office. Late on Wednesday, a few hours after the president had been taken into custody, a group of troops emerged on the nation's television.
