Lithuania will introduce year-round conscription in 2026, allowing young people to be called up straight after high school. The Baltic state plans to draft around 5,000 recruits annually as NATO members boost spending and expand mandatory service. The move comes amid deepening fears over Russia and escalating militarization across Europe, which Moscow dismisses as “nonsense” and fearmongering.
