Microsoft faces off with amazon as AI chip battle intensifies

Amazon takes a bold leap in the race for AI dominance with the unveiling of Trainium-2, its second-generation chip designed for training artificial intelligence systems. This announcement intensifies the rivalry with Microsoft, which recently introduced its own AI chip, Maia. According to AWS chief executive Adam Selipsky, trainium-2 outpaces its predecessor, offering four times the speed while being twice as energy-efficient.
