Landslide at Indonesia's Largest Landfill Near Capital Jakarta
A massive garbage landslide at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment Facility in Bekasi, near Jakarta, killed at least seven people on March 8, 2026, following heavy rain. The collapse of the overcrowded landfill, which handles most of Jakarta's 14,000 tonnes of daily waste, buried trucks and food stalls. Search operations concluded after all victims were accounted for.
