Tennis star Sania Mirza's divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has sparked interest in the practice of 'Khula'. It's a procedure based on Islamic law as mandated by sharia through which a Muslim woman can unilaterally initiate the procedure for divorce from her husband if she feels the marriage is not working out.
