Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has passed away at the age of 80. She died early today at around 6 a.m., shortly after the Fajr prayer, while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness. Khaleda Zia was a towering figure in Bangladeshi politics, serving multiple terms as prime minister and leading the opposition for decades. Her passing marks the end of an era in Bangladesh’s political landscape and is expected to have deep national and regional repercussions.
