Pacu Jalur is a centuries-old traditional boat race originating from the Minangkabau people in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Held annually along the Indragiri River, particularly in Teluk Kuantan, the event is more than a race—it's a vibrant cultural celebration rooted in Eastern Minangkabau heritage. Officially recognized as Indonesia’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2014, Pacu Jalur preserves local wisdom, environmental harmony, and community spirit. The Pacu Jalur Festival also serves as a talent platform, with winning rowers often chosen to represent Indonesia in international competitions.
