India: Two Suspected Nipah Cases in West Bengal as Centre Sends Emergency Team | WION
West Bengal has reported two suspected cases of the deadly Nipah virus, prompting the Centre to deploy a National Joint Outbreak Response Team. The cases were detected at ICMR’s AIIMS Kalyani lab, with both patients currently under treatment. Union Health Minister J P Nadda said the Centre is providing full technical and logistical support as surveillance and contact tracing are stepped up across affected districts.
