From coast to coast, the Universities in the United States are increasingly resembling a battleground. Students have been protesting against the Israel's war in Gaza and expressing solidarity with the Palestinians. A movement that began on the 17th of April with only 70 students at Columbia University in the New York city has gone from strength to strength despite threats of suspension and arrest. More than a dozen Universities & Institutes have joined the spreading protests, with Columbia University remaining the epicenter of this student protest movement. Large-scale arrests have been carried out by the police in Universities across the country. Chemical irritants and tasers have been employed to disperse students. But the students have remained steadfast in their demand that their institutions divest from companies that are enabling the brutal war in Gaza. Though this isn't the first time that University students in the U.S. have staged protests on campus, the crackdown on the student encampments have been particularly harsh this time.
