How do scientists avoid space junk while launching spacecraft?

Space junk refers to “man-made” objects in space. They are no longer functional. Over 30,000 tracked pieces of space debris exist. Over 1 million debris objects are larger than 1 cm. Objects in low Earth orbit travel at very high speeds.
