Google employees seek stronger protection against job cuts

More than 4,500 Google employees just sent a strong message to CEO Sundar Pichai — enough with the layoff anxiety. Organized by the Alphabet Workers Union, workers rallied at Google's Mountain View campus demanding guaranteed severance, voluntary buyouts before forced layoffs, and an end to what they call quota-driven performance reviews.
